Evaluating

2. What have I learnt?
This Task has been on how we
personally evaluate. In our class we
have done a lot of evaluating around the
General Election 2011. We have focused
on how everyone evaluates to make
their decision on who they are voting for.
Though doing this work I have learnt a
lot about the Election and surprisingly I
know more about the different systems
for the election than my mum. We have
also talked about how countries are run
by the government. We talked about
countries that run under Dictatorships
and how fair and unfair it is. We have
also talked about how we are run by a
Democracy.

3. Where did I start?
I started out knowing that John
Key was part of National and
Phil Goff was part of Labour. I
only knew that we lived under a
Democracy and that everybody
got to vote over about 20.

4. Where am I now?
I am now at a stage where I know
as much maybe even more about
the way countries are run and the
election than my mum. I now know
the difference between the different
systems that everybody had to vote
for in the referendum. I know the
different ways countries are run. We
live under a democracy like a lot of
other countries but other countries
are not the same. Like that North
Korea live under a dictatorship
where everybody is given equal
everything.

5. What’s Changed?
This task has made me realize that we
evaluate when we don’t even know we are.
I have also learnt a lot Politics and how
governments are run in different countries.
In class we had to do a flow-chart on how
we cross the road. It was harder than we all
thought and it proved that we evaluate
when we cross the road without even
thinking about it. Using evaluation as a
guidance we started talking about politics
and the General Election this year. We
focused on how people evaluate to make
their decision in the General Election. We
also talked about different ways countries
are run.

6. What’s Improved?
My knowledge for politics has
definitely gotten better though
all the work we have done in
class and my knowledge for
evaluation has gotten better all
the work and class discussions
that we have done.

7. How did I do it?
For this task one of the main
things that helped me learn was
discussions in class. Getting
involved in class discussions
helps me learn more than going
off and working independently.
What also helped me was
watching 3 News and using the
things I had learnt in class to
make sense of the political stuff
they talked about. I also learnt
from looking at how to cross the
road that we evaluate without
even thinking that we are
evaluating.

8. How did I get here? John Key is part
of National???
I got from knowing pretty much
nothing about politics and the
ways governments are run to
knowing a lot about politics
and knowing how different
governments are run. I got
here by getting involved in
class discussions and listening Before
to what Ms Tahu says when After
she's talking about I now know
Task, Politics and of course about the list
evaluating. I also got here from MP’s and the
watching 3 News at 6:00 and electorates.
trying to use what I learnt from See more.....
school to help me make sense.
