5th grade students have written and illustrated the Catalan legend St George and the dragon.

A CATALAN LEGEND
ST. GE RGE
AND THE
DRAG N

2. Once upon a
time in the
medieval Catalan
village of
Montblanc, there
lived a pretty
princess and her
family.

3. Unfortunately, Montblanc was being
terrorized by a nasty dragon that ate all of
the animals and wanted to eat the people.

4. The people decided
that every day
someone would be
chosen randomly to
be eaten by the
dragon so he would
stop destroying the
village. One day, the
princess' name was
picked.

5. The whole village was saddened by this,
but she still went to the cave to meet her
fate. On her way to the cave, a knight
called George appeared and killed the
dragon with a fatal stab wound to the
heart.

6. Blood from the dragon's heart
poured onto the ground. Finally,
lots of roses grew from the blood
of the dragon. Saint George
picked the most beautiful one and
gave it to the princess.
