This study examined how the use of the Edmodo e-learning platform influenced teaching and learning performance in a non-engineering course at Universiti Malaysia Pahang. The course objectives focused on reflecting on ethnic relations history and concepts in Malaysia. Edmodo was used to provide an e-library, assignments, notifications, and progress updates. Based on the e-PAT evaluation, students found that Edmodo encouraged two-way communication and the uploading of resources, and that the lecturer was knowledgeable, innovative, and responsive. The conclusions were that Edmodo served as an effective interactive e-learning tool that helped achieve course objectives and positively influenced teaching and learning performance.

5. 1. Introduction
• This study looks on how students evaluate the
use of e-learning tools (particularly edmodo)
gives impact to the quality of teaching and
learning.
9. Statement of Problem
• Teaching non-
engineering course to
the engineering
students requires
interactive e-learning
tools and technology
oriented interaction
rather than traditional
learning approach
(James L. Cooper & Ball,
2003).
10. • According to Kenkonen-moneta &
Moneta in Hong Kong, students
used e-learning tools
outperformed those in traditional
classes (Kekkonen-moneta, Bay,
Kong, & Moneta, 2000).
• This research investigates on how
edmodo as e-learning tool can
further enhance engineering
students understanding and
interaction inside and outside
class and teaching and learning
performance particularly the
non-engineering/university core
courses .
12. Research Gap
• Edmodo is one of the e-
learning tools used as e-
learning platform to
enhance teaching and
learning of the university
core courses in UMP
namely Ethnic Relations,
Soft Skills and Islamic and
Asian Civilization which
are non-engineering
courses in nature.
14. • E-pat is the acronym of
the Universiti Malaysia
Pahang online teaching
evaluation by the
students known as
Penilaian Pengajaran
Oleh Pelajar Secara
Atas Talian (e- PAT).
16. 2. Research Questions
1. What are the course objectives of Ethnic
Relations?
2. What are the edmodo items used in Ethnic
Relations course?
3. How the usage of edmodo influences
teaching and learning performance?
17. 2. Research Objectives
• To describe the course outcomes of Ethnic
Relations.
• To explain the edmodo items used in Ethnic
Relations course.
• To discuss the influences of edmodo on
teaching performance.
21. Result Objective 1
Course outcome:
1. Reflect the history of Ethnic Relations in
Malaysia
2. Define basic concepts and theories related to
Ethnic Relations in multiethnic society
3. Discuss the history, economic and federal
constitution perspective in promoting national
integration
4. Analyse political, religious, integration and
education viewpoints in relation to social
cohesiveness.
22. Result Objective 2
Some of the edmodo
items used:
• e-library
• e-assignment
• e-notification
• e-progress

35. 5. Conclusions
• Edmodo served as an effective e-learning tool to
achieve course objectives which enable to embed
and engage between students, lecturer and the
course materials and assessments interactively.
• Edmodo influenced Teaching and Learning
performance (e-pat result).
• Edmodo benefits both students and lecturers to
enhance teaching and learning experiences and
performance with interactive mode.
