“Making it real”
Opportunities Fair 2013
Directory of stalls and activities
Tuesday 23 April 2013
Edgbaston Cricket Stadium
Care First
Living and learning for a brighter future.
2. Welcome
Welcome to the third Opportunities Fair to be held in Birmingham.
We have listened to what people have said and hope that this year we
have put together an event to support and excite you.
We are proud to tell you that the team who have planned and organised the
event are made up of; people who use services, supportive citizens, staff from
businesses and charities outside the council and staff who work for the
council.
The Fair is supported by ‘Making it Real’ a group working together to improve
life for citizens with disabilities in Birmingham. The group have chosen
statements that they want to make real. The statement that the Opportunities
Fair is working towards making real is;
‘I have access to a range of support that helps me live the life I want and
remain a contributing member of my community.’
We hope you will agree that the fair supports people to be part of positive and
inclusive communities.
We have decided to hold the Opportunities Fair in April this year to reach out
to young people in transition between children’s and adult services. We hope
we have provided some ideas and opportunities to help young people and
their family carers make some choices about the future.
Have a wonderful time at today’s event.
