Bootcamp Day 4 The Lazy Man’s Guide To Rank On Google
Two Types of SEO
Off Page SEO
This involves creating backlinks that point to your site along with other variables that can become
extremely advanced. It tells Google “This is where my site is, and this is how many people think it’s
important.” The more backlinks, the more important Google views your site as.
The extremely advanced and technical methods of creating multiple varieties and levels of backlinks and
anchor text, etc. are covered in the 15K Formula product which can be viewed in your back office of
Empower Network by clicking on the 15K Formula tab under “My Training”.
The basics of creating backlinks and doing Off Page SEO are covered in this Bootcamp series.
On Page SEO Basics
This is what you do on your own
site and within your posts and
pages to rank on Google. It is NOTE: Since recording this video we have found that
much less complicated and easier SEOpressor is a glitchy plugin that was not giving accurate
to do because you have control of results. SEOpressor is not as smart as your human brain
what you put on your posts. and you can do this better than what SEOpressor would
have told you to do.
Here are the simple steps to
perform On Page SEO within your Also, SEOpressor can be misleading, it is much more
blog posts. important to please Google than it is to have a 100% score
in SEOpressor.
It will actually take you longer to
read through these steps than to
actually do them. These steps will take less than 15 minutes per day once you know all of them.
STEP 1 – Choose a focused topic for your blog post that is something people will actually WANT to read.
The topic of your blog post can be anything you want it to be. Using topics that are current events or hot
topics of discussion right now are the best topics because you will have the most people searching for
more info on a hot topic rather than something that no one really knows or cares about.

STEP 2 – Use Google Keyword Tool to choose the best keyword to use within your blog post that pertains
to the topic that you chose in step 1. You can access the Google Keyword Tool here:
https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal
Full instructions on how to use the Google Keyword Research Tool can be found in Lesson 3 of the 15K
Formula in your Empower Network back office.
STEP 3 – Place your keyword within your post with these steps:
Create A New Blog Post
Instructions on creating and formatting a new blog post were covered in Bootcamp Day 2, these
instructions are going to tell you how to optimize your post for On Page SEO.
Place Your Keyword In The Title
Throughout this example the words “My Keyword” is going to be the keyword we are placing in each
part of the post.
You can see at the end of the Permalink that “My Keyword” will also appear in the link itself.
(Empower Network blogs are setup to place the post name into your permalink. If
for some reason your permalink does not put the title of your post at the end of
the permalink and puts numbers instead you will need to change your permalink
settings. If you do not know how to do that please send in a support ticket and
they will change the setting on your Empower Network blog for you.)
Use An H1, H2 and H3 Heading Tag
To do this we will first refer to the instructions from Bootcamp Day 2 for displaying the full set of editing
buttons for the Visual tab.
Copyright 2012 by Empower Network LLC
By default Wordpress hides some of the options. If this is your first time logging in it will look like this:
Open up the 2nd row of editing tool buttons by clicking on the button at the end that shows rows of dots.
It will say “Show/Hide Kitchen Sink” when you hover over it.
It will now look like this:
Here is what you need to do to create your keyword within an H1, and H2 and an H3 heading.
First, copy your prewritten post into your Empower Network blog (as a precaution you will always want
to write and save your blog post on your computer first to safeguard against issues such as a loss of
internet connection which could lose your blog post.)
You will want to copy your post into your blog by using the “HTML” tab and then switching over to the
Visual tab before formatting your post.
Here is how you will make the text an H1 Heading:
FIRST – The text that you use for your H1 tag will need to be a reworded version of your title, and will be
the first line in the body of your post.
SECOND – Highlight the line of text. Click on the editing option that says “Paragraph” and then choose
“Heading 1”.

Repeat these steps for an H2 Heading and an H3 Heading. Make each heading be a reworded variation
of text. Don’t use the same line of text for each heading or your SEO efforts will look automated and lose
value with your readers.
Your text for the H1 & H2 Headings will appear like this:

The H3 Heading will look like this:
The higher the number, the smaller the heading text will be.
On Page SEO Within Pictures
Bootcamp Day 2 covers how to insert pictures and how to also insert what is called an ALT tag. For the
purpose of On Page SEO your picture title and alternative text (ALT tag) need to be the keyword you
chose.
When uploading a picture include your keyword in the fields where “My Keyword” is shown in the image
below:

Attention To Your Keywords
Show that your keywords are important by using bold, italic and underline editing options at least once
for each editing option.
Google reads the actual source code of your post and sees the HTML code for these editing options,
which tells Google that those words are important.
This is how “My Keyword” looks in bold, italic and underline within your post:
Length Of Post & Amount Of Keywords
The length of your post should be 500-700 words long. And the amount of times your keyword needs to
appear within your post has been argued to vary from 1%-3% depending on which SEO expert you listen
to. The typical guideline is to have at least 1% keywords within your post and no more than 3%. This
would equal at least 1 keyword for every 100 words.
Your blog post will tell you how many words you have in your post at the bottom left of the post body
here:
In this example this post would need to have the keyword in it a minimum of 6 times and no more than
18 times.

Higher than a 3% density for keyword placement is considered “keyword stuffing” and is actually
penalized by Google.
Also, always place your keyword in the FIRST and LAST sentence of your blog post.
Internal Linking
Link your blog post to another page or post within your blog using your keyword as the “anchor text”.
Highlight your keyword within the blog post and then click on the chain link icon in the first row of
editing buttons.
The button will look like this:
Enter the link to the post or page on your site and put the keyword of the target site in the Title field like
this:
Copyright 2012 by Empower Network LLC
You can choose whether or not have the link open in a new window/tab but it is common practice to
have this box checked so your readers don’t lose track of the post they are currently on.
The above steps are the basic steps you will need to perform for each post you create on your Empower
Network blog.

Here is the complete list of what you will need to have within your post to achieve 100% On Page SEO

Off Page SEO Basics
Create A Pingback
Pingbacks can be simply explained as happening when a link is created to another post that was
written using the Wordpress.org source code and then Wordpress recognizes that the site sending
the initiating link is also a Wordpress blog and therefore it will automatically “ping” it back.
How it works gets more complicated than that, but we don’t need to know the specifics of how it
works in order to make use of it in this strategy.
FIRST – Google the keyword that you chose for your blog post and then link to it and reference it
within your post.
SECOND – Choose a post that is related to the topic of your blog post and copy the permalink for
that blog post. (Copy the URL from the address bar while you are viewing the other blogger’s
post.)
THIRD – Reference the post as another source that verifies what you are saying and then link to it
within your post.
That’s it. You validate what your post is about by showing that others have the same opinion and
that what you are talking about is important and other people are talking about it. Plus you bring
a new visitor to your post that already trusts you because you 1. Linked to them and 2. Share the
same opinion based on similar content of your blog posts.
Syndicate With Ping.fm
Ping.fm is a free service for updating your social networks from one location. Plus, you can use
the RSS feed of your blog and have Ping.fm update your social sites automatically.
RSS is often referred to as Really Simple Syndication, and it is. RSS feeds are used by blog
publishers to quickly syndicate their blog posts automatically and they are also used by readers
of your blog posts to receive updates when you publish a new post.
FIRST – Setup your account with Ping.fm
It’s free, but does take some time to setup accounts with each of the services within Ping.fm such
as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Tumblr and Multiply.

SECOND – Locate your RSS feed from your Empower Network blog. Your RSS feed can be found
by clicking the orange square shown below or just by adding /feed to the end of your Empower
Network blog link.
THIRD – Insert the RSS feed link into your Ping.fm account.

Bonus Strategy – Setup A Facebook Page
Use Google to find tutorials or use tutorials within Facebook itself on how to do this. Be sure
that you use a Facebook PAGE not a personal profile. It MUST be a public PAGE. (The type of
page that people click “Like”)
For the advanced methods of using your Facebook RSS feed for the page and for the page’s
notes reference the 15K Formula training.
