5. Vientiane
As a capital city, Vientiane is a home of many temples an national
Monuments. Located on a curve of the Mekong River, Vientiane
has a recorded history that stretches back to around 1.000 AD.
Like all big cities, Vientiane has many activities such as shopping for
handicrafts, wondering around town and experience colorful nightlife.

8. Champasak/Vat Phou
Vat Phou is a ruined Khmer temple complex in southern
Laos. It is located at the base of mount Phu Kao, some 6 km
from the Mekong river in Champasak province. There was a
temple on the site as early as the 5th century, but the
surviving structures date from the 11th to 13th centuries.
The temple has a unique structure, in which the elements
lead to a shrine where a linga was bathed in water from a
mountain spring. The site later became a centre of
Theravada Buddhist worship, which it remains today.

9. Champasak/Si Phan Don
The Si Phan Don is a riverine archipelago located in
the Mekong River, Champasak Province in southern
Laos. Si Phan Don is characterised by numerous
islands, half of which are submerged when the
Mekong River is in flood. The principle islands of Si
Phan Don are Don Khong (the largest), and Don Det
and Don Khon.

10. Champasak/Khone Phapheng Falls
The Khone Falls and Pha Pheng Falls is a waterfall located in Champasak Province on the Mekong River in southern
Laos, near the border with Cambodia. The Khone Falls are the largest in southeast Asia and they are the main
reason that the Mekong is not fully navigable into China. The highest falls reach to 21 metres (69 ft); the
succession of rapids stretch 9.7 km (6.0 mi) of the river's length. The average discharge of the cataract is nearly
11,000 m3/s (390,000 cu ft/s), though the highest volume on record was reached at over 49,000 m3/s (1,700,000
cu ft/s).

11. Champasak/Bolaven Plateau
The Bolaven Plateau is an elevated region in southern Laos.
Most of the plateau is located within Champasak Province of
Laos, though the edges of the plateau are also located in
Sekong and Attapeu Provinces. It is located between the
Annamite Mountain Range, along which runs Laos’ eastern
border with Vietnam, and the Mekong River to the west, at
about 15°N 106°ECoordinates: 15°N 106°E. The plateau's
elevation ranges approximately from 1,000 to 1,350 metres
(3,300 to 4,430 ft) above sea level The plateau is crossed by
several rivers and has many scenic waterfalls.
