Amani is the newly elected head of the Honor Board.
She has been involved with SGA since her first year.
Amani is a strong believer in self‐government – it’s
one of her favorite things about Bryn Mawr.
Amani’s confidence has grown since coming to Bryn
Mawr. She feels empowered to act on her beliefs and
become a leader, and she is encouraged to speak up and say what is on her mind.
Associate Professor Monica Chander is one of Amani’s favorite professors, and
she enjoys working in the biology lab. Amani hopes to combine her studies of
Biology and Cities in her future career.
3. Vivien Chen ‘14
Class Color: Dark Blue
Major: English
Minor: Political Science
Hometown: Holmdel, NJ
The students Vivien met on a campus visit convinced her
that Bryn Mawr was the college for her. She felt
welcomed by their open friendliness. Vivien loves how
Bryn Mawr encourages students to find their inner
confidence and prepares them for the future. She also loves the Tri‐Co relationship.
Vivien is an English major, but she is also interested in corporate law. She spent
summer 2012 working at a law firm in Hong Kong. Vivien will take her L‐SATs this
spring and is planning to attend law school after she graduates.
Vivien is the captain of Bryn Mawr’s tennis team. She’s looking forward to May Day.
She loves everything about the tradition – the food, and the fact that students,
faculty, and staff all come together to have fun.
5. Hosanna Odhner ‘13
Class Color: Red
Major: Physics
Hometown: Bryn Athyn, PA
Hosanna chose Bryn Mawr because of the potential,
power, and responsibility of the Honor Code. She also
wanted to be in a diverse environment with people who
have different opinions and passions in life.
Hosanna is a Physics major and has held an internship
position every summer as a researcher. She interned at
Georgia Tech, Lehigh University, and the College of Wooster. However, after taking a
Management certificate course with Chief Financial Officer John Griffith, Hosanna
found her passion for business. This summer, she will start a job at Vanguard where
she will work with group sales and develop business practices to recruit new clients.
On class colors, Hosanna has always affiliated with Red. Hosanna thinks Reds are
driven go‐getters, qualities she sees in herself as well.
7. Yashaswini Singh ‘13
Class Color: Red
Majors: Economics and Mathematics
Hometown: New Delhi, India
Yashaswini loves the closeness of Bryn Mawr’s
community, from its traditions and Customs to her circle
of friends. She has become a more‐confident person since
coming to Bryn Mawr, and she attributes that personal
growth to Bryn Mawr’s incredible and invaluable support
network of mentors, peers and professors.
Always busy, Yashaswini has worked in Wyndham, Canaday Library, as a tour guide,
and as a Zumba instructor. She is currently a teaching assistant in Economics.
Internships took Yashiswini to Washington, D.C. for two summers where she worked
for non‐profit development think tanks, and last summer she was a public policy
intern at the MDG Centre in Kenya, Africa.
After graduation, Yashiswini will go on to graduate school to study Economics. She
sees her future in international finance development possibly at the United Nations.
9. Kayla Bixler ‘16
Class Color: Light Blue
Hometown: Lancaster, PA
Kayla loves Bryn Mawr’s campus with its grand
buildings and picturesque setting. She also
appreciates the College’s small community where
upperclassmen nurture younger students and help
them succeed.
Kayla wasn’t interested in Chemistry when she was
in high school, but after working in Bryn Mawr’s lab
with Professor Krynn Lukacs, she is now planning to
major in Chemistry and is taking pre‐med classes.
A defensive player in field hockey, Kayla trains all year to keep in shape for the season
and is enjoying spring training. Kayla also coaches a field hockey team in
Downingtown, PA.
11. Prerana Vaddi ‘16
Class Color: Light Blue
Hometown: Sunnyvale, CA
Prerana wanted a college that focused on bringing out the
best in students. Bryn Mawr won her over – the students
she met on campus were like‐minded in their goals of
doing their best and becoming leaders.
Prerana is on a pre‐med track, leaning towards majoring in
either Political Science or Psychology, and minoring in
Neuroscience. The collaborative relationships she has
with her professors in both Psychology andBiology are helping her to develop her
academic potential.
At Bryn Mawr, Prerana wanted to achieve something outside of her comfort zone. So
she joined the Equestrian Club, though she had never been on a horse. She loves it
and plans to ride for the next four years. She photographs for Hepburn’s Closet, a
campus online fashion magazine, and will be photographing for the Bi‐Co News next
semester.
13. Lindsey Lyons ‘15
Class Color: Green
Major: Classical and Near Eastern Archaeology
Hometown: Long Island, NY
When selecting Bryn Mawr, Lindsey was looking for
a college with a strong Archaeology department.
She was impressed by Bryn Mawr’s program, and
as soon as she visited campus, she fell in love with
the welcoming community. She knew belonged at
Bryn Mawr.
She counts Bryn Mawr’s diversity as one of her favorite things about the College. It
gives her the opportunity to come out of her comfort zone. She enjoys the small
classes where you get to know professors and are encouraged to be an active
participant in class discussions.
Archaeology is Lindsay’s passion. She spent the 2012 winter break in a field school in
the United Arab Emirates, run by Professor Peter Magee. She worked at two sites
there and enjoyed the experience of being in the Middle East.
15. Mfon‐ido Akpan ‘15
Class Color: Green
Home country: Nigeria
Mfon was a volunteer at the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria
when a college advisor recommended Bryn Mawr to her.
She was looking for a college with rigorous academics,
and Bryn Mawr fit the bill. She is leaning towards
majoring in Economics and minoring in French.
Mfon finds the support system at Bryn Mawr to be
amazing. Professor Anne Dalke and Dean Raima Evans
devoted hours to helping her acclimate to a new school and a new country and feel
like Bryn Mawr is home away from home. At Bryn Mawr, Mfon has learned that she
can be anything she wants to be.
In summer 2012, Mfon worked as a Hepburn Fellow in Washington, D.C. doing
research with the Global Fund for Children. And this summer, she is excited about
her internship, which will take her to London to work with an investment
management team.
