The Importance Of Writing Process In Writing
After this semester I feel that I've not only developed into a better writer but also have grasped a
better understanding of the writing process, which is arguably most important; having a solid
foundation for my writing technique is the key to writing well. Throughout middle school and high
school, I have always been told to use the "five paragraph format" when writing essays, but now that
I'm in college, I understand that I have been limiting my creativity and not expressing my
opinions and ideas to their fullest extent. To be a good writer, I must put time and effort into my
topic and fully understand the main idea to write a satisfactory essay. So far, I feel as if I'm doing
alright. `When I first begin the writing process I always start by typing out the full story.
Personally, I can't sit down and plan what I'm going to write about; formal drafting makes me feel
as if I have writers' block. Over the years I have taken bits and pieces of advice about my writing and
incorporated those snippets of guidance and suggestions into what my writing style is today. I don't
think I'm a bad writer, but I could work on developing more of my essays into "A cakes."
In the narrative essay, I chose a topic that most of my peers could relate to and a topic that was
very important to me personally. Being a new driver is exciting, however, it also is potentially very

Process Analysis Reflection
Teachers in high school were constantly trying to tell you how to write their way and perfect what
they thought was good writing. Little did I know everyone's writing style is good in its own way.
This academic writing class proved to me that no writing style is right or wrong, but instead all
writing styles have their own uniqueness and character to them. After reading the assigned articles
and analyzing the writing process and other topics discussed in this class, I now see writing as an

What helped me analyze this was Carol Berkenkotter and Donald Murray's analysis of the writing
process. Donald Murray was analyzed for two months in his everyday life and they analyzed how
the environment he was in when writing affected his writing outcomes. The importance of the
audience when editing was highlighted in one of the final paragraphs and I did not realize the
importance of the audience really until I looked back and thought about my writing. Even going
back to junior high writing, your audience was the teacher, and your goal was to write to the
teacher's specifications. Writing is more than just sitting down and writing a dull essay. Even if it is
not the first thought in your head you still have to know your affordances, constraints, and
audience in order to write effectively and edit to the best of your ability. Going into this course I
was afraid my writing style would not be good enough, or up to par with the writing style of a

Self–Analysis
Before taking this course my writing styles and habits were very different. I was the typical
procrastinator because I would wait until the night before a paper was due to start it. This did not
allow me enough time to properly proofread everything, which resulted in getting points deducted for
simple grammatical errors that could have been avoided if I would have had the time to proofread.

I can write a thesis that will give an overview about what main topic of the paper is and what other
elements will be addressed in the paper. From taking this course I have been able to improve
many of my weaknesses, but there are still some that I need to work on. Overall I am becoming
better at not procrastinating as much as I used to. This class has helped me to learn to take the
little steps along the way because then there will not be as much work to do towards the end.
This has also made me realize that the final product of my writing will turn out better because it
will have had more time to develop, which means that there would have been more opportunities
to proofread. I think by learning many styles of writing, such as paraphrasing, summarizing,
analyzing, and researching; it has enabled me to be able to write more broadly. By knowing how
to correctly use all of these kinds of writing styles, it will help me in the future for other classes

publishing. When going throughout this process I feel that it is important to check your progress
quite frequently. After you complete each stage of the writing process it is always acceptable to

Group Analysis: Group Process Issues
Group Process Issues Trust may be a major issue during the group process. Since the members are
female middle school students, the likelihood of them previously being betrayed by a trusted friend
is great. It may be difficult for members to trust each other when disclosing personal information.
Another issue that may arise is shame. The girls may not fully self–disclose because they are
ashamed about the negative self–concept they have of themselves. It also may be difficult to say

The last two factors of attending are to resist tuning out and avoid interruptions. When it comes to
tuning out and interrupting, I have a huge dilemma while communicating with others. Back in high
school, that was one thing that I was good at; tuning out. I even still struggled with it coming into
college. In my first semester at Nassau Community College, a student asked me what we had to
get done on a class assignment and I had completely tuned out because I got easily distracted by
thinking about what I needed to do when I got home. I knew that tuning out was not a pleasant idea
and I should change that before it got out of hand. I keep a constant reminder that blocking mixed
thoughts and distractions will accredit me to improve in this area of the listening process. Avoiding
interruptions has always been an issue and still is to this day. It only occurs when I'm with family
and/or friends but never at school or with teachers. During an encounter with a friend, she was
talking about how we don't spend enough time hanging out and after a single minute, I interrupted
her with a tangential response. Interrupting interferes with attending and tends to be a barrier for
most school–going students. If we want to prevent interruptions from happening, turn–taking should

Within English 219, we have already learned a vital set of writing skills, that will allow for the
improvement of essays, and summaries that must be written for future assessments. Some of these

Voice was the main stylistic element that we discussed in class, and it is the role of voice that
allows for the flow of the paper to remain constant and the reader to remain engaged within a
paper. Without proper voice, the paper can be confusing to the reader and creates issues of flow

Two barriers that students and parents face during the transition process are indecisiveness and
unrealistic expectations. Many students do not know what they want to do after high school. Some
students and/or parents or both, have unrealistic expectations on what they can be in life. However,
it is important for educators to be optimistic and provide the student with the skills necessary to

Many policy makers do this by setting goals or objectives within a 30 – 60 –90 day window. Once
again information is given in feedback form to the policy makers and over time the data and
information is kept in order to review and analyze at a later date. The analysis can be done in
many ways one way indicated is by comparing the feedback to a policy already existing. Look at
the feedback and determine the positive and negative as it affects the majority of the people as a
whole. The thing to remember in the analysis stage is just like dealing with computers and

First in my process, I selected I need to figure out my audience demographics. Our school has a
business school, a cosmetology school, a culinary school, and a medical school. With that said, I

I have conducted an interview with a client and in my paper I will explain my experience and

my first year of college. Although I've never been quite fond of English in the past, I've always
excelled in the subject. I had yet to work for my grade and no English course I had taken proved
to be a challenge through my eyes. I am a huge procrastinator, if not one of the biggest when it

The Importance Of Writing Process In Writing After this semester I feel that I've not only developed into a better writer but also have grasped a better understanding of the writing process, which is arguably most important; having a solid foundation for my writing technique is the key to writing well. Throughout middle school and high school, I have always been told to use the "five paragraph format" when writing essays, but now that I'm in college, I understand that I have been limiting my creativity and not expressing my opinions and ideas to their fullest extent.
