Business Page? 5 Outstanding Examples
Are you struggling to grow your Google plus business page and need some motivation? Google plus
has been a sort of Social Media late starter however as it is Google it’s important to be on it. Social Media
may seem confusing and time-consuming but it is a must if you wish to market your business effectively,
especially online. Several companies and brands have been successful and achieved a brilliant ROI
from Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Google+ and others. So why not yours?
 Strategy: As with all marketing, it is important to have a social media strategy in place. These
strategies will vary depending on your business.
 Advertising: You can promote your Google plus page by linking it to your Google
AdWords campaign, thus your advertising and page share +1’s, also increasing the count on your
page and vice versa. It can increase your click-through rate by 5 to 10%.
 B2C: As with all Social Media, B2C companies are going to be more successful on Google plus because
you are talking directly to your customers after all.
 B2B: With one million brand and business pages being created in the first six months of Google plus
launch, it understands that businesses realise they need a presence too.
What you can achieve using your Google Plus business page?
 Grow your circles – increase the number in your circles so you can tailor the information you share
between these circles and get the right message to the right people therefore.
 Increase your +1’s – a +1 is similar to a like on Facebook so think of a spiders web whereby the
more +1’s of your content and/or page the further your network grows.
 Spreading news of your company – with more in your circles and increased +1’s you will be
expanding your potential customer base.
 Converting Google+ connections to business – the most important result of using Social Media for
your business is to increase the interest in your business and eventually grow your profits.
Here are five excellent company examples of google plus business pages:
# 1. Cadbury UK on Google+
Cadbury UK is among the most successful brands on Google+, currently with over 3.2Million +1’s and
1,797 people in their circles. They made the most of their sponsorship of the Olympic Games in London
2012 to build their brand on Google+.
Jerry Daykin, the Social Media and community manager at Cadbury London 2012 and Kraft Foods Europe,
said “Our strategy has been to try to build an engaged community that we can both share our London 2012
Olympic Games story with and actively bring closer to the general Cadbury brand through dialogue.”
 Cadbury UK had a social media strategy in place from the beginning
 Updates on Google+ are posted at least once a day, sometimes twice, so the pages are up-to-date
 They include videos and enticing pictures of chocolate bars to draw the customer in
 Cadbury UK are aware of current events and utilise them effectively, e.g. #Wimbledon
 During the London Olympics 2012 Cadbury used Google+ hangouts to interact in real time with
Olympic athletes and chocolate experts who then participated in creating the chocolate replica
Google+ page. They increased their Google+ followers base by 150,000 people at the time
 Cadbury UK use their circles to compartmentalize followers into their chocolate preferences.
 They achieved a 17% uplift in CTR across all the advert campaigns by linking up their Cadbury’s
Google+ page to their AdWords campaign. By doing this it meant that when you see the Cadbury
advert on Google you will also see recommendations from your friends which make it far more
relevant to you.
# 2. Hello Kitty on Google+
Hello Kitty is a fictional character produced by the Japanese company Sanrio. Originally aimed at pre-
adolescent females, Hello Kitty’s market has spread to include adult consumers too. Hello Kitty can be
found on a variety of products ranging from school supplies to fashion accessories and high-end
consumer products. They currently have nearly 3.5Million +1’s and just over 3Million in their circles on
Google+.
 Hello Kitty update their Google+ company page regularly but not always on a daily basis
 They have a varied customer base so appeal to many
 They use the Google+ page to promote new products and give sneak previews to what is going on
 They run contests which are publicised on Google+
 Hello Kitty use exclusive content on Google+ to make it the place to see what is happening first, thus
attracting the interest on this platform before others.
# 3. Zagat on Google+
With nearly 3.5Million +1’s and just over 3Million in their circles Zagat is a collection of restaurant ratings
from diners. The company has been running for over 30 years, and now their surveys cover over 100
cities. They also rate hotels, nightlife, shopping, zoos, music, theatres, golf courses and airlines. Google
acquired Zagat in September 2011 and they are now tightly integrated as a free service so are a great
example to use as they have Google pulling their strings on Google+ so to speak.
 They update their content twice daily most days providing pictures and information about food and
restaurants which are always eye-catching
 Zagat use the Google+ Hangouts feature so that people can be involved with chefs and events in their
localities
 They provide behind the scene information of what is going on to make their page a must watch page
 Zagat utilises Google+ Local and integrates it into search, maps and mobile which is hugely effective
for them with users searching for locations with these tools and their results also include reviews
from friends
# 4. BMW on Google+
Well if you like cars who isn’t going to follow the BMW Google+ page? Their nearly 3.7Million +1’s prove
this fact.
 BMW update their status daily on Google+
 The pictures they use are all high quality which encourage comments and increasing discussion
between their followers
 There is a huge level of interaction on their page initiating growth of their network constantly
 Because of the global knowledge of the brand they encourage interaction within their community
easily just by posting a picture to whet the appetite
# 5. Robert Scoble on Google+
Most people will know Robert Scoble for his blog, Scobleizer. He was previously a “technology evangelist”
at Microsoft. He currently works for Rackspace and the Rackspace sponsored community site Building 43.
Nearing 4Million +1’s Robert shares a huge amount of information about his personal life, current tech
innovations, and his opinions about the state of the industry.
 Robert posts on Google+ constantly several times of day
 He shares posts, video and lots more enticing conversation amongst his community
 He regularly uses Google Glass which keeps his page attractive and highly visual which obviously
attracts more interest
 Robert interacts with his page in an informal and engaging way all the time
 He suggests Circles to add him to, including “Gadget Freaks” and “Chasers of Extraordinary
Experiences” showing his interests “on his sleeve” so to speak.
Conclusion
Having looked at lots of Google+ pages to find the above five that stood out for us, we found the following
tips:-
 Be consistent
 Post at least once a day
 Integrate your Google+ page with your Google AdWords campaigns to cross-migrate likes and +1’s
 Be visual using videos (YouTube) and Google Glass
 Use clear and high definition pictures
 Interact with your Google+ page and comments that you receive

Jerry Daykin, the Social Media and community manager at Cadbury London 2012 and Kraft Foods Europe, said “Our strategy has been to try to build an engaged community that we can both share our London 2012 Olympic Games story with and actively bring closer to the general Cadbury brand through dialogue.”  Cadbury UK had a social media strategy in place from the beginning  Updates on Google+ are posted at least once a day, sometimes twice, so the pages are up-to-date  They include videos and enticing pictures of chocolate bars to draw the customer in  Cadbury UK are aware of current events and utilise them effectively, e.g. #Wimbledon  During the London Olympics 2012 Cadbury used Google+ hangouts to interact in real time with Olympic athletes and chocolate experts who then participated in creating the chocolate replica Google+ page. They currently have nearly 3.5Million +1’s and just over 3Million in their circles on Google+.  Hello Kitty update their Google+ company page regularly but not always on a daily basis  They have a varied customer base so appeal to many  They use the Google+ page to promote new products and give sneak previews to what is going on  They run contests which are publicised on Google+  Hello Kitty use exclusive content on Google+ to make it the place to see what is happening first, thus attracting the interest on this platform before others.
  • 4. # 3. Zagat on Google+ With nearly 3.5Million +1’s and just over 3Million in their circles Zagat is a collection of restaurant ratings from diners. The company has been running for over 30 years, and now their surveys cover over 100 cities. They also rate hotels, nightlife, shopping, zoos, music, theatres, golf courses and airlines. Google acquired Zagat in September 2011 and they are now tightly integrated as a free service so are a great example to use as they have Google pulling their strings on Google+ so to speak.  They update their content twice daily most days providing pictures and information about food and restaurants which are always eye-catching  Zagat use the Google+ Hangouts feature so that people can be involved with chefs and events in their localities  They provide behind the scene information of what is going on to make their page a must watch page  Zagat utilises Google+ Local and integrates it into search, maps and mobile which is hugely effective for them with users searching for locations with these tools and their results also include reviews from friends

Their nearly 3.7Million +1’s prove this fact.  BMW update their status daily on Google+  The pictures they use are all high quality which encourage comments and increasing discussion between their followers  There is a huge level of interaction on their page initiating growth of their network constantly  Because of the global knowledge of the brand they encourage interaction within their community easily just by posting a picture to whet the appetite

He currently works for Rackspace and the Rackspace sponsored community site Building 43. Nearing 4Million +1’s Robert shares a huge amount of information about his personal life, current tech innovations, and his opinions about the state of the industry.  Robert posts on Google+ constantly several times of day  He shares posts, video and lots more enticing conversation amongst his community  He regularly uses Google Glass which keeps his page attractive and highly visual which obviously attracts more interest  Robert interacts with his page in an informal and engaging way all the time  He suggests Circles to add him to, including “Gadget Freaks” and “Chasers of Extraordinary Experiences” showing his interests “on his sleeve” so to speak.

Conclusion Having looked at lots of Google+ pages to find the above five that stood out for us, we found the following tips:-  Be consistent  Post at least once a day  Integrate your Google+ page with your Google AdWords campaigns to cross-migrate likes and +1’s  Be visual using videos (YouTube) and Google Glass  Use clear and high definition pictures  Interact with your Google+ page and comments that you receive
