The Chagrin Falls Popcorn Shop was built in 1875 originally as a flour mill powered by the Chagrin Falls River. It became a popcorn shop in the 1940s selling locally produced ice cream, popcorn, and candies. Located in downtown Chagrin Falls, Ohio, the Popcorn Shop was visited by President George W. Bush and his family in 2004 and nearly burned down in 2000 after a vehicle crashed into it. The shop continues to serve ice cream, popcorn, lollipops, and other treats today.
2. How It Started
The Chagrin Falls Popcorn Shop was built in 1875 to be a retail showcase for The Pride
of the Falls flour mill adjoining it. There was a water wheel driven gristmill, powered
by the Chagrin Falls River. Around the 1940’s the building became the Popcorn Shop,
and began serving locally produced ice cream, popcorn and other sweet
candies and treats.

The Chagrin Falls Popcorn Shop is located on 53 North Main street. It is near
the center of Chagrin Falls.

President George W Bush in September 4, 2004.
Laura Bush joined George W Bush for ice cream, and
lot’s of popcorn. Jenna and Barbara Bush joined

Next to The Popcorn Shop is a staircase that leads down near the Falls. They
allow you go down with your ice cream (or any other candy) and eat it.
Some people visit the Popcorn Shop to
celebratehave weddings.
7. Some More Fun Facts
We nearly almost lost the Popcorn Shop on November 2000. A vehicle crashed into the
front of the Popcorn Shop, dislodging it from the bridge it abuts, nearly pushing the
whole building into the river. The building was restored from the foundation up.
