was written by a team of consultants
from the Stephen Covey Consulting
Management Team – a consulting

conducting Disciplines of
Execution (often
abbreviated as 4DX)

Important Goals (WIGs).
Formulate WIG or Wildly
Important goals that are super
important for the progress of
the team or business
performance.

A work team or department should
only has 3 WIG, no more. Thus, the
focus of the target is incredibly
important or has the greatest
impact on improving performance.
Having too many goals will only
make the work process less-
focused.

Some examples of WIG or Wildly
Important Goals include:
• Increasing net profit 2 times in
the next 2 years
• Increasing sales revenue 5
times in the next 3 years

• Increasing customer satisfaction
score to 99 (on a scale of 0 -100)
in the next year
• Growing employee engagement
scores (employee engagement
and commitment) by 50% in the
next 12 months

Lead measures = able to leverage or
jump-start the company's business
performance to an even greater
level.

For example, we have WIG =
Increasing sales turnover 5 times
in the next 3 years
Then the examples of lead
measures are as follows :
- The number of customer leads
increase by 50%
- The amount of new product
increase by 100%

Lead Measures:
- The number of customer
complaints decrease by 50%
- Customer complaint resolution
speed increase by 100%
- The number of defective products
(defect rate) decrease by 75%

Example of Lead Measures:
- Increasing exercise frequency
- Increasing the frequency of eating
healthy (fruits and vegetables)
- Practising an adequate sleep
duration and quality

The third discipline to perform the
implementation or execution
process effectively is to prepare a
"performance scoreboard” which
is easy to read, access and manage
by every team.

This discipline refers to the
team leaders and members
who are responsible for
ensuring the achievement of
WIG goals optimally.

definite and clear
accountability or responsibility
to achieve performance
targets that have been set
(discipline of accountability).
