2. A long time ago…. in a land called Mongolia located above China, a boy named
Temujin was born.
3. When his father was killed, Temujin’s step-brother tried to take his place as ruler.
But Temujin knew that he was stronger and killed his brother to prove that he
would be a good leader.
4. As Temujin got older he led large armies and took over much land. He gave
himself the new name of Genghis Khan.
5. The Mongol army was incredible at shooting bow and arrows. As well as fighting
while on horses.
6. Even though that there was a large army, they could move very quickly.
7. When they were fighting an enemy, they would split up into groups so they would
not be surrounded. When it was time to fight, they would surround the enemy and
attack quickly.
11. When they went to take control of Russia, the soldiers fought when the weather
was extremely cold. This brought the element of surprise to the Russians as
usually it was a period of time that was off limits for fighting.
