Gesture recognition is the process of understanding and interpreting meaningful movements of the hands, arms, face, or sometimes head. It is of great need in designing an efficient human-computer interface. The technology has been in study in recent years because of its potential for application in user interfaces

We always prefer an unobtrusive continuous health monitoring system in the home for the purpose of assessing early health changes. Identification followed by assessment of the health issues at early stages of health disorder provides a window of opportunity for curing the issues before they become lethal. This presentation discusses various Artificial Intelligence techniques which can be used in this regard.

Gesture recognition is to recognizing meaningful expressions of motion by a human, involving the hands, arms, face, head, and/or body. Hand Gestures have greater importance in designing an intelligent and efficient human–computer interface. The applications of gesture recognition are manifold, ranging from sign language through medical rehabilitation to virtual reality. In this paper a survey on various recent gesture recognition approaches is provided with particular emphasis on hand gestures. A review of static hand posture methods are explained with different tools and algorithms applied on gesture recognition system, including connectionist models, hidden Markov model, and fuzzy clustering. Challenges and future research directions are also highlighted.

Day by day lots of efforts are been taken towards developing an intelligent and natural interface between computer system and users. And looking at the technologies now a day’s it has become possible by means of variety of media information like visualization, audio, paint etc. Gesture has become important part of human communication to convey the information. Thus In this paper we proposed a method for HAND GESTURE RECOGNIZATION which includes Hand Segmentation, Hand Tracking and Edge Traversal Algorithm. We have designed a system which is limited to the hardware parts such as computer and webcam. The system consists of four modules: Hand Tracking and Segmentation, Feature Extraction, Neural Training, and Testing. The objective of this system to explore the utility of a neural network-based approach to the recognition of the hand gestures that create a system that will easily identify the gesture and use them for device control and convey information instead of normal inputs devices such as mouse and keyboard.

Information conveyed in seminars, project presentation or even in class rooms can be effective when slideshow presentation is used. There are various means to control slides which require devices like mouse, keyboard, or laser pointer etc. The disadvantage is one must have prior knowledge about the devices in order to operate them. This paper proposes two methods to control the slides during a presentation using bare hands and compares their efficiencies. The proposed methods employ hand gestures given by the user as input. The gestures are identified by counting the number of active fingers and then slides are controlled. Unlike the conventional method for hand gesture recognition which makes use of gloves or markers or any other devices, this method does not require any additional devices and makes the user comfortable. The proposed method for gesture recognition does not require any database to identify a particular gesture.

This work is the part of vision based hand gesture recognition system for Natural Human Computer Interface. Hand tracking and segmentation are the primary steps for any hand gesture recognition system. The aim of this paper is to develop robust and efficient hand segmentation algorithm where three algorithms for hand segmentation using different color spaces with required morphological processing have were utilized. Hand tracking and segmentation algorithm (HTS) is found to be most efficient to handle the challenges of vision based system such as skin color detection, complex background removal and variable lighting condition. Noise may contain, sometime, in the segmented image due to dynamic background. An edge traversal algorithm was developed and applied on the segmented hand contour for removal of unwanted background noise.

An integrated portable device for continuous heart rate and body temperature monitoring system development is presented in this paper (Proc. of 2nd EICT, 2015). Heart related diseases are increasing day by day; therefore, an accurate, affordable and portable heart rate and body temperature measuring device is essential for taking action in proper time. Such a device is more essential in a situation where there is no doctor or clinic nearby (e.g., rural area) and patients are unable not recognize their actual condition. The developed system of this study consists of Arduino UNO microcontroller system, transmission system and Android based application. The system gives information of heart rate and body temperature simultaneously acquired on the portable device in real time and shows it through the connected Android application instantly. The developed system is more affordable with low price compared to other developed devices due to use of easy available Arduino UNO and smart phone as Android device. The developed device is shown acceptable outcomes when compared with other measuring devices.

This paper presents a child activity recognition using a accelerometer and RFID reader. Usually children start walking between 8 months to 16 months and they are more dangerous during this age. So we place accelerometer and RFID on the body of child to prevent child accidents such as falling or any injuries at home. In this paper we determine the activity of child such as sitting down, standing still, walking, toddling, crawling, rolling, and wiggling. The accelerometer and RFID are placed on waist of babies which gives every movement of child. That determine whether the child is falling or in safe mode. The accuracy of each child activity recognition was 98% using accelerometer and RFID reader. The temperature at home and fire at home can be determined by smoke sensor and temperature sensor for safety of child. To recognize daily activities, mean, standard deviation, and slope of time-domain features are calculated over sliding windows.

Emotion detection is a very exhausting job and needs a complicated process; moreover, these processes also require the proper data training and appropriate algorithm. The process involves the experimental research in psychological experiment and classification methods. This paper describes a method on detection emotion using Galvanic Skin Response (GSR) data. We used the Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS) method to get a good data training. Furthermore, Support Vector Machine and a correct preprocessing are performed to classify the GSR data. To validate the proposed approach, Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curve, and accuracy measurement are used. Our method shows that the accuracy is about 75.65% while ROC is about 0.8019. It means that the emotion detection can be done satisfactorily and well performed.

Webinar Recording: https://www.panagenda.com/webinars/why-teams-call-analytics-is-critical-to-your-entire-business Nothing is as frustrating and noticeable as being in an important call and being unable to see or hear the other person. Not surprising then, that issues with Teams calls are among the most common problems users call their helpdesk for. Having in depth insight into everything relevant going on at the user’s device, local network, ISP and Microsoft itself during the call is crucial for good Microsoft Teams Call quality support. To ensure a quick and adequate solution and to ensure your users get the most out of their Microsoft 365. But did you know that ‘bad calls’ are also an excellent indicator of other problems arising? Precisely because it is so noticeable!? Like the canary in the mine, bad calls can be early indicators of problems. Problems that might otherwise not have been noticed for a while but can have a big impact on productivity and satisfaction. Join this session by Christoph Adler to learn how true Microsoft Teams call quality analytics helped other organizations troubleshoot bad calls and identify and fix problems that impacted Teams calls or the use of Microsoft365 in general. See what it can do to keep your users happy and productive! In this session we will cover - Why CQD data alone is not enough to troubleshoot call problems - The importance of attributing call problems to the right call participant - What call quality analytics can do to help you quickly find, fix-, and prevent problems - Why having retrospective detailed insights matters - Real life examples of how others have used Microsoft Teams call quality monitoring to problem shoot problems with their ISP, network, device health and more.

In the thrilling conclusion to 2023, ransomware groups had a banner year, really outdoing themselves in the "make everyone's life miserable" department. LockBit 3.0 took gold in the hacking olympics, followed by the plucky upstarts Clop and ALPHV/BlackCat. Apparently, 48% of organizations were feeling left out and decided to get in on the cyber attack action. Business services won the "most likely to get digitally mugged" award, with education and retail nipping at their heels. Hackers expanded their repertoire beyond boring old encryption to the much more exciting world of extortion. The US, UK and Canada took top honors in the "countries most likely to pay up" category. Bitcoins were the currency of choice for discerning hackers, because who doesn't love untraceable money?
