A long time ago there was a country where the people would change
the king every year.
The person who would become the new king had to agree to a contract
that he would be sent to an island after his one-year tenure of a king.
One king finished his term and it was time for him to go to the island
and live there.
很久很久以前，有一个国家，人们每年都会更换国王。
成为新国王的人必须同意一项合同，即他将在他的国王
任期一年后被送到一个岛上。一位国王任期结束，他该
去岛上居住了。

The people dressed him up in expensive clothes and put him on an
elephant and took him around the cities to say goodbye to all the
people. This was the moment of sadness for all the kings who ruled
for one year.
After saying farewell, the people took the king in a boat to a remote
island and left him there. On their way back, they discovered a ship
that had sunk just recently. They saw a young man who survived by
holding onto a floating piece of wood.
人们给他穿上华贵的衣服，骑在大象上，带着他绕城而去，辞别所有的人。

As they needed a new king, they picked up the young man and
took him to their country.
They requested him to be a king for a year. At first, he refused
but later he agreed to be a king. The people told him about all
the rules and regulations and how he would be sent to an island
after one year.
The young man was a very wise man.
因为他们需要一位新国王，所以他们找到了这个年轻人并把他带到
了他们的国家。他们要求他做一年的国王。 起初，他拒绝了，但后

After three days of being a king, he asked the ministers to show him
the island where all the other kings were sent. They agreed and took
him to the island.
The island was covered with thick jungles and the sounds of
animals were heard coming out of it. The king went a little bit inside
to check. Soon he came upon the dead bodies of all the past kings.
He understood that as soon as they were left in the island, the
animals came and killed them.
成为国王三天后，他要求大臣们带他去见所有其他国王都被派往的岛

The young king went back to the country and collected 100 strong
workers. He took them to the island and instructed them to clean
the jungle and remove all the live and dead animals and cut down
all old unnecessary trees. He would visit the island every month to
see how the work was progressing.
In the first month, all the animals were removed and many trees
were cut down. In the second month, the whole island was cleaned
thoroughly.
年轻的国王回到国家，收集了 100 名强壮的工人。 他把他们带到岛
上，并指示他们清理丛林，清除所有活的和死的动物，砍掉所有不必要

The king then told the workers to plant gardens in various parts of the
island. He also took to the island some useful animals like chickens,
ducks, birds, goats, cows and so on. In the third month, he ordered
the workers to build big houses and docking stations for ships.
Over the months, the island turned into a beautiful tourist place.
Gradually, the ships passing the island started stopping there and
people started coming to visit the island.
国王随后命令工人们在岛上的各个地方种植花园。 他还把一些有用的动

After some time, some people started living there and thus a small beautiful
town was established there.
After one year when the time came for the king to leave his kingdom, the
people dressed up the king and put him on an elephant to take him around the
country to say goodbye to the people. To the people’s surprise, the king was
unusually happy to leave the kingdom. The people asked him, “Your Majesty,
why are you so happy? All the other kings would cry at this moment.”
过了一段时间，一些人开始住在那里，于是在那里建立了一个美丽的小
镇。一年后，当国王离开他的王国的时候到了，人们为国王盛装打扮，让

The clever king replied, “You will know soon.”
When the people reached that island with the king, they were
surprised to see the island. The island had been transformed into a
beautiful tourist place with all kinds of facilities and people from far
and wide had come to visit the island. Even their own kingdom was
not so beautiful. Seeing them all surprised, the king smiled and said,
“You were asking me why I am happy. I am happy for this reason.
聪明的国王回答说：“你很快就会知道。”当人们和国王一起到达那个岛时，他们

While all the other kings were lost into the luxuries of the
kingdom, I always thought about the future and planned for it.
I turned the deadly island into a beautiful place for me. Here, I
can stay peacefully.”
All the ministers and the people who came, saw that nowhere
would they find such a wise and visionary king.
当所有其他国王都沉浸在王国的奢华中时，我却一直在思考未来并为之
计划。我把这个致命的岛屿变成了一个美丽的地方。 在这里，我可以安

They requested the king to become their king forever.
At first the king did not accept but on their repeated
requests, the king finally agreed.
So, this king became the king of that kingdom and of
that beautiful island forever.
