T- stereotype, reinforce, subvert, protagonist, antagonist
Extension: explain how media language is used to construct
these representations
In the extract men are represented in a
stereotypical way. For example, when the
protagonist runs and leaps across the bridge in
order to chase after the antagonist. This reinforces
the stereotype that men are brave and strong. This
conforms to traditional expectations of male
characters as the protagonist risks his life to chase
the antagonist. This is emphasized by the low
camera angle as he leaps across the gap, which
further reinforces the risk and bravery.
