Did you think that volcanoes
could only be on land? No you
  were mistaken there are more
  than five thousand volcanoes
  underwater that are of various
  sizes.
It is not necessary for these volcanoes
to be under deep water, these can also
exist under shallow water and when
these shallow water volcanoes erupt,
they throw the magma on the
surrounding land area as well.
The coral reefs are found in shallow, warm water only,
where the temperature of water is mostly constant
throughout the year. Have you ever wondered what
exactly are these reefs made up of? These are made up
of as many as thousands of corals, and when this coral
dies, it leaves behind the calcium carbonate skeleton.
Further, the cycle starts again when the young ones
attach themselves to the old skeleton. And so on, every
generation builds up themselves on the prior generation.
Coral reefs start at a length of a few centimeters and
go on to attain an unimaginable size - the Great
Barrier Reef in the Pacific Ocean being one of the
best example of the same. Coral reefs are considered
largest living structures on the planet.
Sharks have been the most feared and wild
marine creatures. These animals have been
prowling in the oceans for around 400 million
years and have evolved into 440 different
species. Sharks are known to live for many
 years.
Sharks have excellent eyesight and can
see objects moving even in dim light.
Strong smell and touch senses make
them amazing and smart predators. With
the gift of such wonderful sensory
abilities, their prey animals can hardly
escape these deep water beasts
Seahorse, the unique fish species
 belongs to the genus Hippocampus
 wherein hippos stand for 'horse'
and campus for 'sea monster'. More
than 30 species of the fish have
 been identified by the scientists.
The lower part of the body of a
seahorse is composed of a curly
tail which is used for various
purposes and the upper torso
looks like a horse. Their tail
resembles tail of a monkey.
There are about 32 types of dolphins and all are
unique in their color and body constitution.
Looking at them together will really fascinate
anyone! While these 32 types thrive in salt
water, there are five other types of dolphins who
live in the freshwater. Bottle nose dolphin, the
Killer Whale, the Common dolphin, the Black
dolphin and Dusky dolphin are some of the types
of dolphins.
an adult dolphin eats nearly 20 to 22
kilos of fish every day!! The eating
habits of dolphins are dependent on the
area where they thrive and the season
of the year. Seasons in which fish like
mullet, mackerel, herring, cod are
found abundantly, the dolphins have a
party time!
