2. God Forgives and Heals
• Through the Sacrament of Reconciliation,
the faithful obtain pardon for their sins,
while they are at the same time reconciled
with the Church they wounded by their
sins. It also works for their conversion by
charity, example, and prayer.

• Sacrament of Conversion- it
signifies Jesus’ call for
sinners to go back to God.
Metanoia- change of heart

Three Essential Parts of the Sacrament of
Reconciliation
1. Contrition- sincere sorrow or regret for the sins
we have committed accompanied by a strong
resolution not to sin again.
Examining our conscience- reaching and
searching deep in our souls in order to recall
our sins.

Act of contrition- made after confession, which is an
outward prayer in front of the priest that expresses our
internal sorrow for our sins.
