Objectives of the Brainstorming Symposium on ODS illegal trade
- 1. 1 INTEGRATED ENFORCEMENT CHAIN: ‘BRAINSTORMING’ SYMPOSIUM ON ILLEGAL TRADE IN ODS
- 2. Overall Objective Identify the needs and provide a potential roadmap for a better integration of the judiciary, prosecutors and other legal stakeholders in developing countries in combating illegal trade in ozone depleting substances (ODS) 2
- 3. Aims Identify the needs for capacity building in the enforcement chain Share experiences and best practice in preventing and deterring illegal trade in ODS Better common understanding of ongoing initiatives and activities Assessment of available tools, materials and projects 3
- 4. Advice sought Means of advancing the role of the judiciary in enforcement on the Montreal Protocol including judges, prosecutors, attorneys and other legal stakeholders How to strengthen capacity of the entire enforcement chain Identification of obstacles for the judiciary as a whole to address enforcement Potential synergies with work on ODS and other areas Possible role for UNEP OzonAction and partners in capacity building activities for the enforcement chain Consideration of a workplan of activities Identification of partners to cooperate in capacity building 4
