La banda canadiense Three Days Grace se formó originalmente en 1992 como un quinteto llamado Groundswell, lanzando un álbum en 1995. Después de disolverse, se reformaron en 1997 como un trío llamado Three Days Grace y lanzaron un demo en 2000 que llamó la atención de un productor. El grupo se mudó de Norwood a Toronto y conoció al productor Gavin Brown, anteriormente de la banda Big Sugar.
