The document shares several passages from the Bible describing Jesus' resurrection and its significance. It discusses how Mary Magdalene and other women discovered Jesus' empty tomb, guarded by an angel. It also shares Jesus' appearances to his disciples after his resurrection and his promise to be with them. The document emphasizes that if Christ had not been raised, faith and forgiveness of sins would be meaningless. It celebrates Jesus' victory over death.
2. At dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. There was a violent earth-quake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.
3. The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here! He is risen, just as he said! Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples; ‘He has risen from the dead….’” So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples.
4. On the evening of the first day of the week, the disciples were together. The doors were locked because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders. Jesus came into the room, stood among them, and said “Peace be with you!” He showed them his hands and side.
