Creating Journal Entries
• The process begins with creating journals.
Create journals in several ways:
• Enter manually directly in the ledger.
• Use a spreadsheet interface.
• Import journals into the ledger.
• Create automatically from formulas or processes.

• Posting Journal Entries
• You can post journal entries only in open accounting periods.
• During the posting process, the journal entry is validated and, if
successful, the credit and debit amounts are updated to their
respective accounts in the ledger.
• You cannot change a journal entry that is posted.
• Correcting Journal Entries
• Edit journal entries as needed before they are posted. After posting,
either reverse and enter the journal again, or enter a new journal to
correct the amounts in question.

Journal Entry Components
• Batch: A batch can contain multiple journals,
each of which can belong to a different ledger.
• Journals: A journal requires the following data
• Ledger name
• Journal name
• Accounting date
• Source
• Category
• Currency
• Lines: The lines require accounts and amounts.
Total debits must equal total credits for all journal
entries except for statistical journal entries.

• General Accountant role (at minimum) must be assigned to the User
• Ledger Data Access Set must be assigned to the User & subledger
• Open an accounting period
• ADFI Desktop Integration must be installed for Excel access connection to
Oracle Cloud Fusion module

How You Create Journals in Workbooks
• You can use the Create Journals workbook for high volume journal
entry.
• You can prepare the journals offline, distribute the workbooks for
review, or save the journals for recurring entry.
• Setup : Before you can use the Create Journals workbook, you must
install an Excel add-in. Navigate to the Tools work area and select
the Download Desktop Integration Installer link.
• Download: To download the Create Journals workbook, navigate to the
Journals work area and select the Create Journal in Spreadsheet task

• Journal Entry: The Create Journals workbook has two worksheets
• Single Journal
• Multiple Journals
• Submission: When you're ready to submit the journals for processing,
click Submit on the Create Journal ribbon.
• Validations: Below validation will be performed, the validation results
display in the Status Viewer pane.
• Validation verify that you provided an accounting date and journal
category.

Journal posting is a process that updates balances in general ledger
accounts to reflect an entity's business transactions and provides data for
financial reporting.
Automatic or Manual Journal Posting
The two methods for posting journal batches are
• Manually from the Manage Journals or Create Journal pages
• Automatically using criteria sets, spreadsheet creation, allocation and
revaluation processes, or propagation to secondary ledgers
