This document summarizes an online course about using open educational resources (OERs) in teaching. The course is part of a MOOCs for Teachers series created through a partnership between Politecnico di Milano and another university. Participants will learn tips for incorporating OERs, basics of OERs, and perspectives on key issues from experts in the field. The course follows Kolb's experiential learning cycle, starting with an introduction and moving through reflections on OER examples, theoretical background, and hands-on design activities. Videos are supplemented with graphics and keywords to highlight important content, and references are provided to deepen knowledge and awareness. The goal is to help teachers start using OERs in their

USING OERS IN TEACHING – the topic
“We have a great chance in using
OERs created and shared by other
experts, enriching them by adding
our expertise, and sharing them again
- together with the OERs we created -
in a continuous process that leads
global knowledge toward a virtuous
spiral of enhancement.
A wider awareness about OERs can
really change something in the future
of education.”

to pedagogical innovation and is aimed at giving the chance
to teachers and people involved in instructional design
to develop skills in the didactical area.

12. EXPLICIT PEDAGOGICAL APPROACH – Kolb’s learning cycle
WEEK 0
Introduction to the MOOC, its structure
and the main subject we are dealing with.
FROM WEEK 1 TO WEEK 4
The core part of the MOOC:
from some example of OER use and context,
through a deep reflection on them
and a guided analysis of the theoretical background,
to the “hands on” part,
to start using the approach
for participants’ own course’s design.
FINAL SECTION
The pedagogical approach applied
in the MOOC, Kolb’s experiential learning cycle.
This section has the aim to give teachers
a meta-level of reflection on the overall
design phase of a course.
