* for Jane Tiffany who will be having cancer surgery
on the top of her head tomorrow;
* for continued healing for Jean Foulkes who
underwent a back procedure due to a small fracture;
* for the regaining of strength for Larry Pete who
who was in ICU last week and for peace as he starts
cancer treatments early in October;
* for Terry Boeve who will need to have heart
surgery in the very near future;

make a full recovery following a very serious health

We have obtained a block of tickets for the Collingsworth Family
Concert being held on Friday, October 11, at 7:00 p.m. at
Jenison Performing Arts Center. The price is $23 per ticket and
only a few tickets remain. If you are interested in attending,

CHURCH PANTRY
The pantry is in need of canned fruits, vegetables and canned meats (tuna,
chicken, etc. They are low on these foods and are currently helping 6 families so
this month if you could donate these items, it would be greatly appreciated!)
If you are in the stage of your life where your kids are almost or already
gone, consider being part of Parkside’s Empty Nesters!! Join the group on
Saturday, September 21 at 4:00 p.m. at the Holland State Park Channel
(near the picnic tables.) Meet for fellowship and build relationships! Bring
your own picnic meal and we’ll eat together at 5:00. Stay for the sunset if
your want! Couples and singles are invited! Questions, talk to Pastor Gary.

2. WALKING EXERCISE CLASSES TO RESUME TOMORROW, SEPTEMBER 16 Want to
get in shape, lose weight or tone up? Join others at Parkside on Monday evenings starting
on 9/16 in the Philippi classroom (end of the hallway) from 6:00-7:00 p.m. and walk 3-5
miles indoors to a video by Leslie Sansone. All are welcome - men and women! Adjust the
routine to your own ability. Contact Pam DeBoer if you have questions - 616-566-0908.

SUPER SENIORS We will continue our regular Wednesday morning meetings through
October in the Fellowship Area at 10:30 a.m. for Bible study of the people who knew Jesus.
Troy Sergey will be teaching. Invite another person or couple! Lunch will follow at James
Street Inn.
WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY Ladies, plan to attend the Women’s Bible Study meeting every
Thursday evening from 6:30-8:00 p.m. from September 5 - November 21 and February 6 -
May 7. We will be studying the book of Romans. Bible Study books are $11 each. If you

EXPLORE THE BOOK (O. T. Poetic Material) A study entitled “Explore the Book” is being
held on both Wednesday from 7:00-8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 6:30-8:00 p.m. The
same material will be offered each night with Pastor Joe teaching on Wednesday evenings
and Pastor Gary on Thursday evenings. Join us as we learn about the Old Testament
poetic material of Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, etc.
LADIES DINNER & GAME NIGHT Ladies, join us this Friday, September 20, for a fun
evening out! Meet at James Street Inn at 5:30 p.m. then plan to come back to the church
for simple card and board games and treats. This is a great way to get to know other
women of the church! Sign up at the Women’s Ministry Counter.
MEN’S SATURDAY MORNING GROUP Men, plan to come to Parkside every Saturday
morning at 7:30 a.m. for a relaxing time of coffee, donuts, fellowship, great conversation, a
look at a Scripture passage and prayer! We’re done by 9:00 a.m. leaving you plenty of
time to spend with your family and tackle your weekend projects!

SUNDAY EVENING WORSHIP “WHAT IS YOUR WORLD VIEW?”
Your “World View” is like a set of glasses through which you view and interact with the
world. It’s made up of certain basic assumptions you bring to all of life’s questions. Our
purpose on Sunday evenings will be to help us each clarify and evaluate our own World
View. We will consider several different World Views and see why having a Christian
World View is by far superior to every other approach to life. Pastor Craig Apel will be
teaching/facilitating the discussion, with Pastor Gary leading a time of singing, prayer, etc.
Bring your Bible and pen or pencil. Hope to see you there from 6:00-7:00 p.m.!

(Youth Room) We will be using the B.I.G. material (Bible Instruction Group) written
by Craig MacDonald. This will allow students to get an overview of the Scriptures
(Old Testament and New Testament) from a Dispensational perspective. From
Genesis to Revelation, God's plans and purposes are being lived out.
ADULT CLASSES:
Knowing God and His Unfolding Purpose - Harold Kimbel – Antioch Room
We will take an in-depth study of who God is, His nature, characteristics and
reasoning for His Creation. We'll approach this from a dispensational perspective
and discuss the plan of God throughout human history. We will dive into different
topics along the way.
Behind the Scenes of the Old Testament – Pastor Joe & Ryan VanderHaar –
Galatia Room Have you ever wondered why the Bible seems so strange? Why are
the names hard to pronounce? Why don’t the poems rhyme? The Bible was written
in different cultures, languages, and historical contexts. In this class, we’ll dive deep
into what’s going on in Israel and the surrounding nations. We’ll always anchor it in
the text of Scripture as well to see exactly why backgrounds matter.
Walking with God in the Desert – John Tooke – Ephesus Room The desert is
one of the richest and most helpful images of the Bible. The beauty of the deserts of
the Bible lands, the stories set there, and the people of the desert are deeply moving.
Days spent in the desert are very hard. In the hardship and struggle to survive in the
desert, we find a metaphor for surviving the desert experiences of heart and soul. And
yet, God is with us. This series is filmed on location at Biblically significant sights in
the Middle East.
Explore the Book: New Testament Overview (NEW TITLE) – Kurt Postma –
Philippi Room In the Bible, we see God’s full plan of redemption given to us and
played out. In “Explore the Book,” we’ll take a look at one book of the Bible each
week and see how it’s written, key themes, major characters, and how they each look
forward to Jesus Christ. Material will be provided each week. By the end of the class,
you’ll be able to see the big picture of God’s story and be able to identify the theme of
each book.

4. VISITATIONS WITH PASTOR JOE
Do you enjoy visiting with the elderly, shut-ins, the sick, the lonely or those in
need? Every Wednesday, you have an opportunity to head out in pairs to
visit these special people. Meet at the church at 1:30 p.m. and we’ll con-
clude by 3:30. If you know of anyone who would like to be visited or if you
would like a visit or have questions, talk to Pastor Joe.

HARVEST OF HEALTH WOMEN’S CONFERENCE
Saturday, October 5 9:30-3:00 p.m. at Parkside.

Annette Stone or Sabrina Preikszas. (At the door tickets

Lyle is doing just fine after his surgery four
weeks ago. He graduated from his therapy
and is ready to golf, drive and help around
the house again. We are so thankful and
grateful for our church family, for your visits
your cards and all the prayers! Your love
and concern for us is priceless. We love
and appreciate our church family.
