Creating an Artist
I would like the artists I use in my
magazine to follow a similar philosophy
to that of Nas or Jay Z.
Both of these artists grew up in the
various poverty affected projects
dotted around New York, particularly in
the Brooklyn/Queens area.
The main reason for my admiration
towards these artists comes from how
they managed to make a career from
almost nothing. Their passion for their
talents allowed them to gain immense
fortune and success. Now both artists
are amongst the richest population of
America and have extensive amounts
of influence over their audiences.

I would like to keep the ‘Rise from the
Bottom’ theme with my artist, however the
twist is that my artist will operate within the
House music genre as opposed to the Hip-
Hop and Rap Genre that the artists I
mentioned previously originate from. The
reason for this is due to the fact that the
house music genre and industry has recently
been receiving more and more attention
and an artist with a unique quality like this
would stand out amongst others.

3. My Artist Profile
The artist I am choosing to create is ‘Illicit’. The
proper definition for this term is ‘forbidden by
law, rules, or custom’. I chose this artist name
because it reflects danger and the impression
that the music the artist produces is
‘Underground’.
My artist has a great admiration for many
different types and genre of music which is
expressed in his interview for my production.
This quality makes him an admirable
character.
