show or event attendance/participation, public relations and email
marketing, etc.
• Evaluate the channel (Google+ vs. Facebook vs. Pinterest vs. Twitter),
• why you should use it,

• how much it‟s going to cost (time & money).
• Create a calendar/timeline for each tactic

Tips for Business
11. – WHAT IS IT?
Pinterest is a social network that allows users to visually share, curate, and
discover new interests by “pinning,” images or videos to their own or others‟
pinboards (i.e. a collection of „pins,‟ usually with a common theme). Users can
either upload images from their computer or pin things they find on the web using
the Pinterest bookmarklet, Pin It button, or just a URL.
12. – WHY IT MATTERS
Twitter faces increasing pressure from Pinterest (15 percent of all internet users)
and
Instagram (13 percent), and is still significantly behind Facebook (67 percent
usage)
in overall popularity.

Any business that relies on driving a high-volume of website traffic to increase
sales,
should consider joining Pinterest. In fact, early research indicates that Pinterest is
more effective at driving traffic compared to other social media sites, even
Facebook.

14. - TIPS FOR BUSINESS
Four tips from Pinterest:
• Pin from various sources rather than one specific site.
• Repin rom within the site to engage with others – repinning is one of the most
social activities on Pinterest and it's how any user really builds his/her
network of followers.
• Create at least a few boards that cover a broad range of interests, rather than
maintaining a single board devoted to one topic. Pace your pins so that your
followers aren't overwhelmed by too many pins in their feed at once.
• For businesses, pinning can be a great way to highlight aspects of your brand
that may not come to mind at first when people consider your brand. Pinterest
can also be a great tool to learn what your audience/users/customers want
and like.

Keeping an eye on strategy will help you weed out the ones you should pay attention to and the ones that may not matter.
If you were going to drive to San Diego, you wouldn’t necessarily drive through Canada to get there (unless your goal was to criss cross the US in order to see as much as possible ).For today’s discussion, please keep in mind the last two Ps – place and promotion
Going back to the California analogy, you could fly, drive, take a bus, take the train, even ride a bike. If your strategy is to see as much of the country as possible in a year and be healthy and environmentally conscientious about it, maybe bike riding is the right tactic. If, however, you have a business meeting and you have to be there a week from today, flying is likely to be the tactic of choice. Then you iron out logistics such as which airline, rental car or cab, etc? When you think about your business meeting, you need to know who your audience is, if it’s a group of potential investors, your appearance and message will likely be different than if it were a group of employees. (June Google+ prep, July Google+ launch, July-Sept. begin Pinterest research, August/September monitor leads from Google+, make adjustments; October launch Pinterest). One vehicle per quarter, ongoing. Watch for patterns, use slowly for intereaction/engagement and evaluate).
Pinterest, which launched in 2009, has experienced explosive growth, especially with a white, female and affluent user base. Women are five times more likely to use Pinterest (5 percent vs. 25 percent) and almost twice as likely to be white and college-educated. It’s become a magnet for hip urbanites searching for the hottest wedding gowns and apartment decor. Twitter, however, gets a lot more attention, since neither presidential campaigns nor Middle Eastern activists are leveraging style catalogs to rearrange their countries’ political leadership.
