Initiative Abatement Letter
1. July 24, 2007
Perry and Betty C Wallace
3217 Loftyview Dr
High Point, NC 27260
This letter serves as formal notice that property owned by you, namely,
1900 Apex Pl. High Point, North Carolina has been used in such a manner that it
greatly concerns the surrounding community and the High Point Police Department. You
need to be aware of the following activity at that location:
Multiple purchases of illegal narcotics have been made from persons at this address
by the High Point Police Department over the past several weeks.
The police department seeks your cooperation and assistance in addressing this situation.
Activity of this sort can place your property in jeopardy of forfeiture. Chapter 19 of the
North Carolina General Statutes allows for the abatement of nuisances through civil
proceedings. Specifically, Chapter 19 defines public nuisance and allows the District
Attorney, Attorney General, local government, or private citizen the right to seek court
action to abate or stop a nuisance. Possible penalties include forfeiture of property, court
ordered closure of property, permanent restrictions on use of the property, payment of
civil fines and accounting fees, liens and invalidation of leases.
I wish to offer you an invitation to meet with me at the High Point Police Department on
Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at 4:30 P.M. We will discuss your rights and responsibilities
as property owners as well as options that may help you avoid similar circumstances in
the future.
If you have questions concerning this matter please contact Captain Jim Baldwin at (336)
887-7849.
J. Douglas Henderson
