1. Magazine advert

2. To make my music advertisement for a magazine I am going to find some inspiration and ideas from other advertisements. I like the simplicity of this advertisement. The bold background colour makes the advert stand out and the classy feel to the advert contrasts with the bands music making it interesting. This advert includes a twist on the usual gothic symbol of a skull. I like how the contrast of bright colours and the skull image makes the advert stand out and appear juxtaposed.

3. I like the use of black and grey in this advert as it makes it appear quite western. The font used here is bold and you can’t but help read it. I also like the use of random images used to attract the reader and the decorative boarder which again contrasts with the bold writing. I like the cartoon effect in this advert. The use of bright colour contrasted with the simplistic base colour makes the advert really stand out.

4. I want my advert to show a different side to my band. I want the advert to interest people who may not have heard of them before so that they want to buy the digipak. I liked the idea of using the usual dark colours of my band with a slightly brighter colour to symbolize what the majority of society would consider unusual music. I also like the idea of including a cartoon effect. I will take a cartoon related to the band, such as the skull and make an interesting effect with it to catch the audiences eye. I also think the photo should be active. I will use a photo of a member playing an instrument to illustrate their love for instruments. Although I don't want my advert to look like a conventional heavy metal advert, I want to incorporate some of the bands associated images. I will use the same text for the bands name as I have on the digipak as well as an image of a skull. This means that people who know the band will distinctively see that it is their advert. I also want the advert to look slightly disjointed so it attracts more attention. I will use a selection of five colours so as not to make the advert appear too messy and colourful.
