JIM CARMICHAEL: Currently President of the Rockwall Music Teachers Association; has served on various committees of the TMTA, most recently the
Music Theory Committee; studied piano and organ with Mrs. Elma Rankin Beeson for twelve years in Johnson City, Tennessee; received his BA in Music Education in
1970 from The University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN; received an MBA from Emory University in Atlanta, GA in May, 1982. Carmichael has an extensive
background in sacred music having played in churches since the age of eight; he is the nephew of Ralph Carmichael, one of the leading sacred music composers of the
1960’s and 1970’s, and has written and arranged sacred music for years; currently the principal organist at First Baptist Church of Rockwall. Carmichael is the Owner
of the Music Rockwall piano studio; he has also produced four CD’s featuring young aspiring vocalists and bands. His website is www.musicrockwall.com.
POLLY FERRARO: Holds a Master of Music degree in Piano Pedagogy from Southern Methodist University and a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano
Performance from Central Methodist College; she is a Nationally Certified Music teacher; currently studies with Sheila Paige.
TENA HEHN: An honors graduate from North Texas State University, now the University of North Texas, with a Bachelor of Music Education degree, with

ALLEN LONG: Studied with Rita Fuszek and Earle Voorhies and received a BA from California State University at Fullerton; also completed 5 years of study
at Dallas Theological Seminary and earned a Master in Theology degree. As an ordained minister, Long served in church ministry as a pianist, music director, choir
director, arranger and composer for 26 years; also taught piano to church members. More recently, Long studied piano with Dr. Carol Leone at Southern Methodist
University; graduated in 2005 with a MM in Education. Currently serves as a full-time choral accompanist in Irving ISD, and maintains a private piano teaching studio.
ELIZABETH MARCY: Marcy grew up in Wisconsin, is one of eight children, all musicians; attended the International School of Music in Indianapolis, IN as
well as received certification in teaching the Suzuki method; has taught piano for 13 years, and is the pianist at her church. Marcy enjoys coffee dates with friends,
shopping, time spent with her husband Tim, and is passionate about her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
BEVERLY PANASIK: NCTM; private studio in Garland; holds a BME from Campbell University and an MS, Music Education from the University of IL. Panasik
is the immediate past president of the Garland Music Teachers Association, where she is still an active member; frequent adjudicator at festivals in the Dallas area.
LEAH PENA: Received her Bachelor of Music in Piano Pedagogy, Summa Cum Laude from Baylor University. Pena later studied at Texas Christian University
and received her MM in Piano Pedagogy under Dr. Ann Gipson; was active in her collegiate MTNA chapter at TCU and was a presenter at the 2010 MTNA
Conference with three other colleagues. Diverse teaching experiences, from Early Childhood Music to RMM group piano classes. Pena is beginning her second year
on staff at Coppell Conservatory, where she teaches theory classes and maintains a full studio of private students of all ages.
MONA REJINO: Teacher, adjudicator, composer and arranger; is co-author of the Hal Leonard Student Piano Library. Rejino has taught privately for
more than 25 years and is currently teaching at the Hockaday School in Dallas. She holds a BM from West Texas State University and a MM from the University of
North Texas in Performance. As a Hal Leonard clinician, Rejino presents workshops throughout the country. Her newest works, Current Hits and Just for Kids are
available through Hal Leonard.
RICHARD REJINO: Began working in the print music industry a long time ago and has been in the retail print business for more than 28 years. Rejino has
been a teacher, adjudicator, and speaker for many years; he is Co- Director of the National Piano Teachers Institute; also serves as a consultant for the Hal
Leonard Student Piano Library. Most recently, Rejino authored his first book, What Music Means to Me, published by Hal Leonard. His wife, Mona, and two
children, Maggie and Adam, keep him very humbled outside of work, leaving him precious little time for photography, running and writing.
BEVERLY RYAN: A member of Garland Music Teachers Association since 1983; teaches students from age 4 to adult; currently has a studio of 38-40
students. Ryan is a church pianist and accompanies in the schools for choirs and band/choir solos for UIL. Married; a proud mother of two daughters and one son (all
married); grandmother of 9 boys and 1 girl. Sight reading is her forte.
SUZANNE TAITTE: Originally from New Orleans, LA; received her BM degree in Piano Performance from the University of Louisiana in Lafayette with a
minor in voice and her MM degrees in Piano Pedagogy and Piano Performance from Southern Methodist University. Taitte has taught piano for forty years; recently
retired from teaching general music at Mount St. Michael Catholic School in Oak Cliff after volunteering there for 24 years, but still teaches piano in her home studio
in Richardson. She is an active member of the Richardson MTA and serves as a cantor at St. Rita Catholic Church.
KRISTIN YOST: NCTM, co-founded the Centre for Musical Minds with Sam Holland in 2008; serves as executive director and teaching faculty. Yost holds a BA
from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and a MM in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from Southern Methodist University. 12 years of teaching experience; is
an active presenter, author, and mentor in areas of music business for independent teachers, jazz, and practical application of technology in student lessons; has given
presentations throughout the United States and Europe and continues to look for ways to keep music learning at the piano engaging and joyful.
