Expected to Dip
By Narrative Science Forbes Magazine - Financial Section February 6th, 2014
Wall Street is expecting lower profit for New York Times Company when
the company reports its fourth quarter results on Thursday, February 6,
2014. Analysts are expecting earnings per share of 16 cents after the

analysts expect revenue to fall 23% year-over-year to $441 million for the
quarter. For the year, revenue is expected to come in at $1.57 billion.
Last quarter’s loss snapped a streak of earnings in the previous two quarters.
The company has seen dips in its revenue in the last two quarters. In the
third quarter, revenue was $361.7 million, 37% lower than the year-ago
figure. In the quarter before that, revenue fell 6%.

“Computers are now doing many
things that used to be the domain of
people only.
The pace and scale of this
encroachment into human skills is
relatively recent and has profound
economic implications.
Perhaps the most important of these
is that while digital progress grows
the overall economic pie, it can do
so while leaving some people, or
even a lot of them, worse off.”
