  • 8. TECHNIQUES OF JOB REDESIGN Job Simplification Job simplification means variety & difficulty of tasks performed by a single person are reduced. Job Enrichment More advanced technology tends to cause Job Enrichment meaning that the job provides greater responsibility, recognition and opportunities for growth and development. Job Rotation Job rotation means moving employees from job to job to give them greater variety of task so that to help preventing boredom.

ALTERNATIVE WORK ARRANGEMENTS Especially important for a diverse workforce of dual-earner couples, single parents, and employees Flextime Employees work during a common core time period each day but have discretion in forming their total workday from a flexible set of hours outside the core. Example of Flextime Time Schedule Job Sharing The practice of having two or more people split a 40-hour-a-week job. Approx. 19% of large organizations now offer Job sharing. Telecommuting Employees do their work at home on a computer that is linked to their office. Categories of Telecommuting Jobs •Routine information-handling tasks. •Mobile activities. •Professional and other knowledge-related tasks. caring for a sick or aging relative.

CASE FACTS Multitasking is the characteristics of Millennial generation.  About 81% of the young people report “Media Multitasking”  Multitasking illustrates that motivation is not just effort but also the way effort is directed.  Multitasking makes people more efficient, which is a positive impact.  According to David Meyer, multitasking results in adverse outcomes beyond inefficiency.  Absorbs material more superficially  Damage productivity and social relationship.
