2. The question is this – AMD vs Intel? Which is the better choice. Well it is a
difficult question to answer as there are too many variables in the question
of AMD vs Intel. This is because AMD and Intel both produces many different
types of processors and in order to know which is better, you will have to
literally compare “apple to apple”.
However if you are not looking into a technical discussion but is in general
wanting to know which AMD vs Intel processors to choose to build your new
computer, then read on.
Here many AMD users share their experience on why they moved on to use

I would like to start by saying that if you're wondering whether to get this,
just get it! I have mine at 4.5ghz stable with my hyper 212+ cooler. I can
probably go higher, but i really have no need for it. I'm using an asus p8p67
board and it's great! i had some boot problems at first, but then i flashed my
bios and everything's running fast and smooth!
my processor idles at at about 16-25 degrees Celsius and on full load, goes
up to only about 55 degrees.
This processor is one of the fastest that are available at the moment. For
$200-$250, i definitely recommend any of the new i5 cores from intel. They
save energy and runs fairly cool while giving you optimal performance.

I must start off by saying that I have run nothing but AMD processors for the
last 10 years in each one of my setups. This processor had high reviews
from all of my peers while I received nothing but negative reviews from the
AMD counterparts. I decided to give it a try and spend the extra money to

3. go with this processor. I am glad I did. While the base setup of this
processor is nice and runs everything smoothly, I decided to overclock it a
tad bit. Most of the new boards do come with an auto overclock option so I
enabled it.
This change made this processor run at a stable 4.0. I've tried to bog it
down by running a minecraft server and clients on the same machine, but
this processor takes it like a champ and seems to ask for more. I couldn't be
happier. All of the games I throw at it run amazing and the cpu process
alarm on my antivirus hasn't gone off once since I changed over. I admit
that I am in awe of what this processor can do and may just stay an intel fan
if they produce chips like this in the future.

Absolutely the best processor I have ever owned, overclocking is insane, its
seems it can go as high as the sky, the only draw back being more intense
cooling being needed, regardless, this puppy overclocks like its never heard
of the term unstable, anyone can overcloack this to 4.2ghz without a hassle,
more experienced overclockers can reach 4.8 without a problem, it seems
this processor is ahead of the competition by at least a generation, this CPU
has not been able to bottleneck yet, it commands my two 570;s with ease
and pushes them at a constant 99%, I decided it was time for an upgrade, i
had a q8400 at 3.4, i said meh, wont be much of a difference right? 3.4 to
3.7? oh man, thankfully i was so wrong........ just get it, don’t decide
between CPU;s, this one is def. the best CPU for the price hands down, as a
side note *at stock clocks it out paces a AMD 1090 six core by at least 20%
talk about build quality.

OK, there have been a lot of Intel CPUs that have blown away AMDs for the
last few years but this was the one I finally got that ended my 13 years
using AMD processors. It's not to expensive and it overclocks to 4.0 GHz
without even trying. If I was more adventurous I could probably get up to
4.5 GHz. I've seen one guy who was pushing 5.0 GHz.

I love this CPU. I upgraded from a Core 2 Quad Q9550 and holy cow, what a
huge difference. I loved my C2Q, but this really does blow it out of the
water. Everything is just so snappy! I am using this with an Intel H67
motherboard. Don't try and rip me apart about using this with H67 chipset, I
already know. I didn't get this to overclock, I got this because it has built-in
Intel HD graphics 3000 instead of HD 2000 that the non-k has. I will not be
using a dedicated GPU so I wanted the most out of the integrated graphics.
Also, the stock cooler doesn't do terrible. It stays at about 35 degrees
Celsius.
You can't really going wrong with this CPU. Its low cost, high reliability, and
awesome overclockingness makes this a no-brainer. I would recommend this
over any AMD CPU.

I only have good things to say about this processor. I am coming from a
AMD Athalon X2 4800+ and this Intel CPU gave my old computer a righteous
kick in the pants. Not only is it faster, it optimized the processes I use so
that they run smoother and quicker.
Before I overclocked this CPU I transcoded some movies and it cut my old
best time by 300% or more what used to take me 2 hours takes 18mins!!
Then I decided to see what I could do overclocking this thing and I have it
running stable @ 4.6GHz!! I never thought that would be possible on air
cooling but it really is. I paired this CPU with a Hyper 212+ and it is Wicked
Fast! If you have the ability and are ready for something new this is the ONE
TO GET! I even recommend this to others over the i7 Sandy bridge mainly
because most people will never need the HT on the i7.

This is coming from a long-term AMD user, and this particular chip, although
spectacular in its own right, will not convert me completely (waiting for AMD
Bulldozer architecture to show its teeth, hopefully very soon). I'm glad I did
the switch though, and the choice to do so was the price vs performance
factor, finally Intel gives you a reasonable choice for, well, not THAT MUCH
money spent:)
I switched from Phenom II 940 system to this and the difference on desktop
use level is very noticeable, I'm kinda surprised - expected little to none
actual increase in performance. Everything is snappy and fluid. Overlocking
this thing to 4.5 rock stable 24/7, gaming and benchmarking, well, is
another story altogether:) significant increase in Crysis performance (the
only game I've tested so far) with GTX570, about 15-20 FPS increase
actually. Exactly what I was aiming for. Planning to take this further to
4.8Ghz, could be a challenge with my current cooler (CM Hyper N520), but
since 4.5 is very easily achieved = another satisfied customer here:)
So if you're planning to take the plunge, well, depends on the level where
you're coming from. I guess current AMD Phenom X6 or Intel i7/i5 users
won't find anything breathtaking.
Anyway, a solid chip for a reasonable price, MBs are priced right too (if you
can find them due to recent recall debacle), and a good choice to keep your
gaming needs satisfied, well, until the end of this year, for sure!

WARNING! Using this processor will put a permanent grin on your face while
everything you throw at it Explodes with speed! :D
Honestly I was stuck between this and the 2600k i7.. but decided to go with
this i5 in the end and invest the extra $100 bucks that I would have
normally spent on the i7 on better cooling and 8GB of RAM. I'm sure the i7
is faster with heavy processor based applications such as photoshop or video
editing software with hyperthreading, but keep in mind this i5 is no push
over!
I'm a photographer which means I utilize image editing software on a
regular basis and I also dabble with video editing. I can see the Processor

6. hesitate on certain aspects during editing, such as selecting large amounts
of text and stuttering when selecting a large area on pictures, however these
are all SMALL inconveniences when seeing all the other things this processor
can do flawlessly.
Gaming is EXCELLENT with this bad boy, I'm running it in conjunction with a
XFX Radeon 5670 by itself and Dragon Age Origins on Maximum settings
with no issues whatsoever, never a hint of lag!
I haven't overclocked mine yet since its already performing beautifully at
3.3GHz but I've read multiple people pushing this thing over 4GHz without a
problem.
Now only thing you gotta do is stop reading this and just go up and order it,
you seriously can't go wrong with this, and if you were considering the AMD
6 core Phenom, change your mind like I did because this thing whoops the
AMD in any benchmark test out there, google it.
