1. OVERVIEW
This study is about the meaningful of making art among children. Nowadays, parents
prefer their children to study hard for the science stream subject without care or alert
about what their child like to do. Many parents want their children be a doctor, lawyer or
engineer but they forget that children was born in a different expertise.there are some
children that really like in art but parents or teacher does not.know that. For them, art is
meaningless.
Based on experience, which parents and adult now is not interested in children art
making, author tried to prove by doing a survey to children to make adult impressed and
proud with the children’s art making and make them know that it is meaningful.
The author makes the question of why children should be engaged in manufacturing
art and easiest answer is because the child is a part of society that need to be addressed
and opportunities to do what they like. To strengthen this study, the authors have found
that children actually use the ethnographic method in proses of making art. Ethnographic
method is the study of the cultural patterns and perspectives of participant in their natural
setting. In a easier words is to understand the situation about phenomena which is
children will get an experience from surrounding.
According to the article, children always get an ideas by observation from
surrounding. They will draw from what they see and actually the drawing is not exactly
like the actual figure or picture because they just draw from the imagination. In the early
age, children just know to doodling or scribbling without think about the aesthetic value.
Respond from from the children when doing art making is most important to make them
understand about what they learn. It is because children will learn something from the
adult and in the same time they will make adult as their role model to follow what to do.
Adult also must know either children like or not while the art making process.
According to the author, adults always think that children’s art are nothing and
meaningless. Normally, what people see in the children art making is not same with the
children’s imagination. Sometimes, adult put a high expectation to children by doing art
making but they do not want to guide or give the spirit to them. Children also have their
own explanation of their art art making. Everything that children draw have their own
meaning. Sometimes, adult are never know and understand what they do but when we
ask them about their drawing, they will tell us about their drawing, they will tell us about
the drawing one by one like a story telling. Author said again, children needs making art in
their live because it can generate their minds.
2. DESCRIPTION OF THE METHODOLOGY
This study takes place at Haven Elementary, a charter school in Bayside, a large,
diverse city in California. The mission of Haven is to develop youth into educated and
involved citizens through community and environmental programmed, and the arts are
central to this mission. All students at Haven had art twice per week. Visual art classes
were taught by Ms Murray, a veteran art teacher and arts mentor for a countywide arts
integration initiative. Her approach was to provide a few art assignments during the year,
allowing students time to develope each project over time. The school aimed for diversity,
but struggled to maintain that vision. The population of the school was about 65 per cent
African American, 15 per cent white, 8 per cent Latino, and 12 per cent of student
received free or reduced-price lunch.
This analysis is from a study that was designed to describe the world of children’s art
making and explain the experiences of individual children within that world. This study
was designed to foreground the experiences and activity of children as they participate in
art making in a learning context. To the end, this study was designed to foreground
children’s art-making activity and their experiences as learners in the art making process.
Author asked each classroom teacher to nominate 3-4 students for small group
interviews. Children were nominated based on their interest in art making and likely
interest in talking about art. Author said, she learned more about children’s art making
and willingness to participate in interviews, author was select some children for individual
interviews, making an effort to have a diverse group. There are several group that
represented the school’s diversity. Some were avid artist who worked intensively on art
projects whenever possible, while others were less interested in art and did little more
than complete school assignments.
3. EVALUATION
- The author was succeeded to prove that children’s art making are meaningful and
can be used as a reference or example in the certain part. It is because children’s
art making are have their own value and meaning, which is not all adult will
Understand with the drawing they do. By making art, author found that children can
generate their mind and throw out the expression inside them.
- The data presented are based on the survey, intensions were restricted to the
artistic motivations that demonstrated what children were doing or trying to do in
their art making. The reasons such as ‘i had nothing to do’ and ‘the teacher asked
us to do it’ were not included in this analysis. Author was observed independently of
the reasons that children engaged in art making at a given moment.
- The study did not find any significant methodological weakness in the study to find
the answer.
- The method used by the author is a method which is in accordance with the nature
of the child where environmental conditions will affect the learning process of
children. Adults is also one of those things that animated it, including in terms of
behavior and attitudes.
- In my opinion, We should provide opportunities and space for children to develop
their ideas in art, so that, children will more exited and interested to know more about
art. We should have the attitude to guide the children to produce better artwork and
high quality. So then, children’s art making can be improved from time to time with
having the instructor or guidance. Besides that, always providing encouragement if
they are interested to know more in the art.
4. DISCUSSION OF IMPLICATION
According to the author, by reaching out to children and deepen their hearts, adults can
experience what it is like presented by the child. drawing activities either individually or in
groups and let them draw freely without the constraint is one of the smart and effective
way to groom the child. It also can built self confident among children when their artwork
was criticized in a positive direction and adults should not have said what they did was
wrong and not right, this is because they do have their own explanation with their art
making. Adults also have no right to say what the children produce is not attractive, it is
because beauty is a subjective and difficult to interpret.
I’m strongly agreed with the author because she said, children should be given the
opportunity to develope their art making and idea. Children were seen making art in ways
that made it a meaningful activity for them and a meaningful way to connect to their
culture. They were also found to be making meaning through their art in the sense that
they used art materials to investigate, represent and transform that important ideas that
they encountered in their world.
Based on the current issues, the development of children’s art making should be at
serious note and given a new lease of life in art and culture among children, and indirectly
the sheathing for the future. Every school should spend at least two hours a day to do art
activities and people must change their mind set which is art among children just a waste
and nothing to do with art when they are grow up.
I think, Children have their own approach to making art & develop the idea based on their
observation from surrounding. As an adult, as adults, we should support them to continue
doing the artwork and do not give up, it's because the art will evolve over time and
change their age. do not be angry with them if the artwork is made not to be as expected
because adult children on stage they just do the work of art based on imagination. We
can't underestimate the artwork of children because they also can produce a good
result of the art manufacturing. By produce art, children can expand their minds not to be
restricted and can grow well.

The author makes the question of why children should be engaged in manufacturing art and easiest answer is because the child is a part of society that need to be addressed and opportunities to do what they like. To strengthen this study, the authors have found that children actually use the ethnographic method in proses of making art. Ethnographic method is the study of the cultural patterns and perspectives of participant in their natural setting. In a easier words is to understand the situation about phenomena which is children will get an experience from surrounding. According to the article, children always get an ideas by observation from surrounding. They will draw from what they see and actually the drawing is not exactly like the actual figure or picture because they just draw from the imagination. In the early age, children just know to doodling or scribbling without think about the aesthetic value. Respond from from the children when doing art making is most important to make them
  • 2. understand about what they learn. It is because children will learn something from the adult and in the same time they will make adult as their role model to follow what to do. Adult also must know either children like or not while the art making process. According to the author, adults always think that children’s art are nothing and meaningless. Normally, what people see in the children art making is not same with the children’s imagination. Sometimes, adult put a high expectation to children by doing art making but they do not want to guide or give the spirit to them. Children also have their own explanation of their art art making. Everything that children draw have their own meaning. Sometimes, adult are never know and understand what they do but when we ask them about their drawing, they will tell us about their drawing, they will tell us about the drawing one by one like a story telling. Author said again, children needs making art in their live because it can generate their minds. 2. DESCRIPTION OF THE METHODOLOGY This study takes place at Haven Elementary, a charter school in Bayside, a large, diverse city in California. The mission of Haven is to develop youth into educated and involved citizens through community and environmental programmed, and the arts are central to this mission. All students at Haven had art twice per week. Visual art classes were taught by Ms Murray, a veteran art teacher and arts mentor for a countywide arts integration initiative. Her approach was to provide a few art assignments during the year, allowing students time to develope each project over time. The school aimed for diversity, but struggled to maintain that vision. The population of the school was about 65 per cent African American, 15 per cent white, 8 per cent Latino, and 12 per cent of student received free or reduced-price lunch. This analysis is from a study that was designed to describe the world of children’s art making and explain the experiences of individual children within that world. This study was designed to foreground the experiences and activity of children as they participate in art making in a learning context. To the end, this study was designed to foreground children’s art-making activity and their experiences as learners in the art making process.
  • 3. Author asked each classroom teacher to nominate 3-4 students for small group interviews. Children were nominated based on their interest in art making and likely interest in talking about art. Author said, she learned more about children’s art making and willingness to participate in interviews, author was select some children for individual interviews, making an effort to have a diverse group. There are several group that represented the school’s diversity. Some were avid artist who worked intensively on art projects whenever possible, while others were less interested in art and did little more than complete school assignments. 3. EVALUATION - The author was succeeded to prove that children’s art making are meaningful and can be used as a reference or example in the certain part. It is because children’s art making are have their own value and meaning, which is not all adult will Understand with the drawing they do. By making art, author found that children can generate their mind and throw out the expression inside them. - The data presented are based on the survey, intensions were restricted to the artistic motivations that demonstrated what children were doing or trying to do in their art making. The reasons such as ‘i had nothing to do’ and ‘the teacher asked us to do it’ were not included in this analysis. Author was observed independently of the reasons that children engaged in art making at a given moment. - The study did not find any significant methodological weakness in the study to find the answer. - The method used by the author is a method which is in accordance with the nature of the child where environmental conditions will affect the learning process of children. Adults is also one of those things that animated it, including in terms of behavior and attitudes. - In my opinion, We should provide opportunities and space for children to develop

So then, children’s art making can be improved from time to time with having the instructor or guidance. Besides that, always providing encouragement if they are interested to know more in the art. 4. DISCUSSION OF IMPLICATION According to the author, by reaching out to children and deepen their hearts, adults can experience what it is like presented by the child. drawing activities either individually or in groups and let them draw freely without the constraint is one of the smart and effective way to groom the child. It also can built self confident among children when their artwork was criticized in a positive direction and adults should not have said what they did was wrong and not right, this is because they do have their own explanation with their art making. Adults also have no right to say what the children produce is not attractive, it is because beauty is a subjective and difficult to interpret. I’m strongly agreed with the author because she said, children should be given the opportunity to develope their art making and idea. Children were seen making art in ways that made it a meaningful activity for them and a meaningful way to connect to their culture. They were also found to be making meaning through their art in the sense that they used art materials to investigate, represent and transform that important ideas that they encountered in their world. Based on the current issues, the development of children’s art making should be at serious note and given a new lease of life in art and culture among children, and indirectly the sheathing for the future. Every school should spend at least two hours a day to do art activities and people must change their mind set which is art among children just a waste and nothing to do with art when they are grow up.
  • 5. I think, Children have their own approach to making art & develop the idea based on their observation from surrounding. As an adult, as adults, we should support them to continue doing the artwork and do not give up, it's because the art will evolve over time and change their age. do not be angry with them if the artwork is made not to be as expected because adult children on stage they just do the work of art based on imagination. We can't underestimate the artwork of children because they also can produce a good result of the art manufacturing. By produce art, children can expand their minds not to be restricted and can grow well.
