Chapter 17.6: Endings, Beginnings, and
Celebrations

2. When we last saw the Squeaky Clean Legacy, our genera7on nine heiress
Elaine Goodytwoshoes had just become engaged to Ian Legacina, a
substan7al improvement from her first fiancée, Angus Pleasant.
(It has been a long 7me since my last update. Apologies. If you need to
catch up on who is whom and what has been going on, may I recommend
reading the last couple of updates?)

3. Before we get back to the Goodygirls Sorority, we have to turn to some
Romans. This is partly because I love Romans, and partly because I need to fix
said Romans up roman7cally, and partly because Romans invariably mean
Simselves, even if the Simselves are very badly behaved. I don’t know why Cait
decided to pick a fight with Greg, and yes, Greg counts as a Roman.

4. De, for instance, is an honorary Roman. At least Cassius thinks she is.

5. Please try not to poke anybody or pick any fights, okay, Lily?

6. Marcus and Greg were together in my old neighborhood, but they need to get
together again here. I never get 7red of Marcus.He’s probably one of my
favorite grandchildren, if only because he’s Popularity and took over his
Grandpa Flavius’s old superhero business.

9. The real purpose of playing the Romans, though, is geTng Duodecimus
hooked up with RoseFyre, the simself who seems to like him best,
though that can vary.
All seemed well, so Duodecimus asked Rose on a date to the former
Bluewater Baths and Salon, now owned by Achilles and named Curl Up
and Dye.

10. She seems pleased, yes? Interested in what he has to say?

11. Or maybe more interested in what Bluewater townie Unconvincing Floral
Accessory has to say?

12. Or perhaps a liWle bit less than thrilled with Duodecimus?

13. RoseFyre: Ew, garlic breath.

14. She seems to get over her temporary revulsion just fine.

15. ‐‐ long enough to ditch him and jump into the hot tub with Achilles and
Brutus, who is gay and has been married to Dante Gabriel for years.
I think it’s all a sneaky trick so that Duodecimus has to ask her on a third
date. A third date! Doesn’t she realize that Sims are supposed to fall in
love on the first date or the second at most? What happened to
consul7ng the player’s convenience? SHEESH.

16. Rose got her way, of course, because there did have to be a third date.

17. ‐‐ and this 7me she didn’t raise any awkward objec7ons.

18. And thus he fell in love‐‐

19. ‐‐and proposed to her‐‐

20. ‐‐and she admired the shininess of the engagement ring‐‐

21. ‐‐and also got 5000 aspira7on points.
He didn’t get any aspira7on points, because he is a Fortune Sim, so I bought
him some expensive garbage. And they prepared to live happily ever a^er.

22. At Goodygirls, not a whole heck of a lot is going on.

23. There’s Molly and Skyler going on dates–

24. –and singing karaoke, which Molly likes and Skyler does not–

25. Plus a lot of smooching–

26. Followed by falling in love, and Skyler having the good sense to leave a
large screen television suitable for the amusement of the en7re house.

27. Clearly, Molly takes her responsibili7es as a sorority member seriously.
Molly: What good is a boyfriend if he doesn’t leave electronic entertainment?

28. She’s perfectly serious about studying with her older half brother
Telemachus, so she can watch as much television as she wants.

29. Lenore spends a lot of 7me geTng hit by lightning while she’s trying to
weed things.

30. But mostly, there is a whole lot of this as I try to get them up to the final
semester of senior year.

31. (Note Skyler’s contribu7on just behind Elaine.)

32. Finally everyone graduated, and nobody was par7cularly excited about
it. There were no 25,000 aspira7on points to be gained here.

33. Molly’s the only Sim in the house who is remotely likely to roll that, and
she’s nowhere close to gradua7on.

34. Elaine is Romance. She has other priori7es.
“Why yes! I would love to have a Roof Raiser party before I graduate!”

35. Molly: I didn’t know you were so excited about gradua7ng.
Elaine: It’s the party I’m excited about. The gradua7on, not so much.

36. Molly: Oh well, in that case, congratula7ons on the last Roof Raiser
party.

37. Obvious guests on the list: Ian; Penelope, Elaine’s mother; and assorted
boyfriends.

38. Elaine: Mother, could you try not to be such a bitch to my fiancé?

39. Penelope: Excuse me?

40. Elaine: You know exactly what I mean, Mother. You keep going up to Ian
and picking fights with him and poking him. And he doesn’t like that kind
of thing at all. I want us all to get along together, and we all have to live
together, so I’d really like you to make an effort.

41. Penelope: So, Ian– I’m drawing a blank here.

42. Ian: I can see that. I appreciate the thought, though, so I’ll try not to poke
you back, okay?

43. Nausicaa: Congratula7ons on geTng engaged!

44. Elaine: Congratula7ons on geTng engaged!

45. Gawaine: Congratula7ons on gradua7ng!

46. Elaine: Congratula7ons at figuring out how to get into an essen7al shot,

47. And it’s an exci7ng moment, as my very last heiress prepares to go
home and bring in the last genera7on‐‐

49. Lenore: I hear Candy Mountain is nice at this 7me of year.

50. Parsifal: There’s not too much going on over here.
At the boy’s fraternity, everyone is also preparing to graduate.

51. Albert congratulates Bunthorne on becoming a big Sim on campus.

52. Bunthorne takes this as his cue to propose to Dusty Broke.

53. Bunthorne: And as soon as we’ve graduated, we can go steal some
jewelry for the honeymoon.

54. Marcus: Congratula7ons! You guys both deserve it.

55. WriterTina: That was fabulous.

And while we are speaking of Gawaine. . .

56. It doesn’t maWer how honest you are about that, Ethan, that is never

59. Drum kits make a lot of the boys happy.

60. But what really makes Gawain happy, happier even than a drum kit, is
making a lot of new friends.

Yeah, most of them graduated, and the only one who rolled any aspira7on
points for it was Albert, who didn’t graduate.

64. Gawaine: There’s s7ll 7me for one last party before gradua7on? Well,
how could I say no to that?

65. Gawaine: I’m s7ll the eldest, and that means I’m s7ll the leader.

66. Dinadan: We are so proud of you.

68. A gradua7on party means a chance for the whole family to catch up.

69. Including Uncle Ulysses, who can’t visit at all in the day7me.

70. Ulysses is also easily sidelined by the OCD that goes along with being a
vampire.

71. Molly: Clearly earning a degree didn’t make you any smarter.

72. Everyone has an absolutely splendid 7me, both the fraternity members‐‐

74. In fact, everyone seems to be having a good 7me, except perhaps for
Gawaine, or why else would he have chosen to take a shower right now?
Gawaine: Why are you taking a photograph of me right now?

75. Bunthorne: Please grow up into something hilarious.

76. Gawaine: “Oh, I’m a lumberjack and I’m okay. . .”

77. Gawaine: And s7ll the leader, and s7ll awesome.

I’m Popularity, so I’d like to, but we just had a gradua7on party.

81. Palomides is the third brother to graduate and grow up, and Bunthorne
doesn’t want to miss a single one of these.

92. It takes a while to get Ian seWled in. He actually wanted to make friends
with his future mother‐in‐law, and she’s a tough cookie, so I had to
sentence them to remedial chess.

93. Killick: Which I **&*&*’in miss Ruby, but the gardener gal ain’t bad.

94. He capped his first night staying with the family by panicking over one of
the trees in the backyard.

95. But Elaine was happy enough about his moving in that she was able to
devote herself to one of the family’s tradi7onal du7es.

96. Elaine: Am I ready for this? Will I be a preWy bride? Will the guests say
so? Will Ian think so?

97. Elaine: I look great! I feel great! I’m geTng married and I FEEL GREAT.

98. And Ian seems to think she looks great too, which is a bonus.

99. Elaine: You’re not really supposed to see the bride before the wedding,
though.
Ian: I’m glad I did. You look beau7ful.

100. Penelope: I remember exactly what that felt like.

we’ve got a wedding to get started.

127. Ian: Of course I’m on board with your family’s tradi7ons. I wouldn’t have
said that I was if I wasn’t.
Elaine: Don’t take it too far.
Ian: I wouldn’t worry about that. The next part is also tradi7onal, from
what I understand.

128. Elaine: Did you know I grew up in this room? My family used to joke and
call it my turret. I was always inside looking out, dreaming about the day
I would go out and find someone to love me.

129. Ian: You didn’t have to go very far, or try to make someone love you.
Elaine: I know that.
Ian: You let me love you.
Elaine: I let you in. And I’m so happy you’re here. So happy.

132. Elaine is right. Something inside her is quiet and contented now.

133. Elaine: Shh. Don’t wake him.

Max: I concur.

136. Achilles: So let me get this straight. Your mother was geTng a bit beWer,
but you were s7ll worried sick about her, and then she set fire to the
kitchen and had to be rescued by the fire department? And that’s a
posi7ve thing?

137. Max: Naturally, a culinary conflagra7on is not a posi7ve thing in itself.

138. Max: The firefighter who assisted her, however, was kind enough to
ascertain her safety and well‐being on the following day.

139. Max: As you can imagine, my mother has had liHle social interacIon and
few friends aJer her long incapacitaIon.

140. Max: She also felt compelled to demonstrate that she does not in fact
incinerate food on a regular basis.

141. Max: He also appears to be fond of cats.

142. Achilles: WHOA. Back up. Your mom is friends with some fireman named
Sam, pracIcally daIng him, and you don’t have a problem with that?

143. Lucy: Why should he have a problem with that? What’s the maWer with
that?

144. Achilles: I didn’t say I had a problem with it. I think it’s great. I was
asking if Max had a problem with it.

145. Max: No. I do not “have a problem with it.”

146. Max: My mother has been extremely miserable and unhappy for a very
long Ime. I cannot begrudge her anything that makes her happy. Nor
could anyone, if they saw her face.

147. Achilles: That’s good. I wasn’t sure you’d think of it that way.
He’s a lot younger than she is, though, isn’t he?

148. Max: In point of fact, he is somewhat younger than I am.
Achilles: You don’t think that’s too young?
Max: On the contrary. I think he is precisely the right age.

149. Achilles: Hmm.
Max: Hmmm indeed.

150. Lucy decides to show her pleasure and friendly concern in a way unique
to her.

Max: Thank you. I trust all is well with you as well.

152. Lucy: My niece Lenore just graduated from college.

153. Lucy: We’re all preHy happy for her.

154. Lucy: I met her fiancé, and he’s preHy non‐sInky if I have to say so, what
with his monster cred and all. Can’t talk about it, though, because he
gets all cranky and talk about how the baker guy and his husband are his
REAL parents. Whatever.

155. Lucy: Lenore’s dad seems to like him, too.

156. Zane: He said he’d rip my arms off and beat me to death with them if I
was anything like him!
Lenore: Excuse me, swee7e. I think I need to have a liWle chat with him.

157. Don’t bother. He’s too busy being enthralled by Carmilla telling the
Dragon Legend.

158. Max: I did not realize your sister knew the Dragon Legend.
Lucy: She doesn’t.

159. Carmilla: Stanley is hot and so am I.

160. Lucy: She just moved home, but she and Zane want three kids and we’re
hurIng for space.

161. Lucy: Great‐Grandpa Elroy and Great‐Grandpa Whoopie moved down to
Simida.

162. Lucy: They’re having a great Ime. They promised to come back for the
wedding, but they love it down there.

163. Lucy: They love it down there even though Great‐Grandpa Whoopie
overdid it in the sun.

164. Lucy: He said he’s been waiIng his whole life to have a sunburn that
wouldn’t kill him, so he’s sIll happy about it.

165. Lucy: We’re sIll hurIng for space, though, so I said I’d move out, too.
Max: I did not think you and your sister could tolerate a separaIon.

166. Lucy: I sIll don’t think Milly likes the idea. I don’t love the idea.

167. Lucy: But this other pair of twins we met said they did it and it worked
out okay for them.

168. Lucy: They said they missed each other a lot, but that living in different
houses didn’t make them any less close.

169. Lucy: They said they liked having kids and grandkids and that made it
worth it, and they never lost their connecIon.
Max: This would be somewhat lonely for you, I would imagine.
Lucy: It would if I were moving by myself. But I’m moving in with my
boyfriend.

sister.
Lucy: Yeah, well. . .
