3. Final Assignment Details
Create a composition using your favorite meal (food) that
best represents you. Arrange a real-life meal that you love to
eat and draw it using color pastels.
Materials: minimum size 18 x 24 inches, quality drawing paper
or canson mi teintes paper, color pastels
Artist Statement: Students will learn how to write an artist
statement and write about their final drawing. Artist
statement is due at the same time as the final drawing.
4. COMPOSITION
Composition: horizontal or vertical orientation, placement on page,
scale of objects in relation to page, negative and positive space
arrangement
6. VALUE
Value: aspects of dark and light observed from life, consider
lighting when arranging your still life, use a lamp or natural lighting
situation
7. • Color: naturalistic, expressive, or arbitrary use of color using
techniques like hatching, blending, pointilism or scumbling
