Welcome to the 2014 International HRD Congress on “Key to Sustainable Growth: Human 
Resource Development”. It is a pleasure to host you here in Islamabad, the capital of 
Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The idea behind this mega International HRD Congress has 
been that of fostering an efficient knowledge exchange between policy makers and experts 
and guide the developing world especially South Asian countries in grooming highly skilled 
and technically qualified human resource base for maintaining their economic growth rates. 
A stimulating program with dedicated development sector's key players and policy experts 
on Human Resource Development encompassing sustainable growth will be on agenda of 
this Congress. 
The Pakistan Development Expo on the sidelines of the congress is yet another august 
forum to peep into the successful models and future strategies of the Government of 
Pakistan, International Donor community and Development Agencies for a progressive and 
dynamic Pakistan.

HRDN at a Glance: 
HRDN is a prestigious network of more than 150 National and International Development 
Agencies working in Pakistan and around 850 individual professionals, vying for competent 
human resource to achieve professional excellence towards sustainable development by 
enhancement of individual and institutional competencies through facilitating capacity 
development and evidence based policy advocacy. The network has its Secretariat in 
Islamabad and its membership is based in 26 Countries. HRDN was founded back in year 
1998 and registered under Society Registration Act 1860. 
International HRD Congress: 
The quality of human resource of the nations determine their competitiveness and only 
well-equipped human resource enables individual, national and global development 
through improved performance. In today’s global scenario appropriate policies and 
practices of skills development occupy a dominant place in the development discourse. The 
countries of the Asia-Pacific region including Pakistan have geographical, socio-economic, 
cultural and developmental diversity that impacts every aspect of life including 
employment, labor force, education and training. The developing countries need to 
recalibrate their growth models to consolidate their positions by grooming highly skilled and 
technically qualified human resource base to maintain their economic growth rates and 
need to respond to the challenges posed by the ascent of knowledge economies. 
The core purpose to host this international congress is to bring national and international 
dignitaries, experts and stakeholders together to deliberate on developmental challenges 
and set path for policies and strategies for future development of Pakistan and South Asia. 
The Government of Pakistan has recently lunched “Vision 2025” that elucidates sustainable 
growth while keeping in view the importance of vision 2025 and priority areas set to reach 
the ultimate goal. HRDN decided to organize the Congress of 2014 on “Key to Sustainable 
Growth – Human Resource Development”. The Congress will mainly focus on one priority 
area of Vision 2025 i.e. SOCIAL CAPITAL, while reviewing the Government of Pakistan’s 
emphasis to discourse all areas of precedence.

Pakistan Development Expo: 
Development is quite a complex phenomenon of 
today's developing world necessitating its key 
actors to learn, exchange and adopt the successful 
models to support their burgeoning economies.

A stimulating program with dedicated development sector's key players and policy experts on Human Resource Development encompassing sustainable growth will be on agenda of this Congress. The Pakistan Development Expo on the sidelines of the congress is yet another august forum to peep into the successful models and future strategies of the Government of Pakistan, International Donor community and Development Agencies for a progressive and dynamic Pakistan. Human Resource Development Network HRDN at a Glance: HRDN is a prestigious network of more than 150 National and International Development Agencies working in Pakistan and around 850 individual professionals, vying for competent human resource to achieve professional excellence towards sustainable development by enhancement of individual and institutional competencies through facilitating capacity development and evidence based policy advocacy. The network has its Secretariat in Islamabad and its membership is based in 26 Countries. HRDN was founded back in year 1998 and registered under Society Registration Act 1860. International HRD Congress: The quality of human resource of the nations determine their competitiveness and only well-equipped human resource enables individual, national and global development through improved performance. In today’s global scenario appropriate policies and practices of skills development occupy a dominant place in the development discourse. The countries of the Asia-Pacific region including Pakistan have geographical, socio-economic, cultural and developmental diversity that impacts every aspect of life including employment, labor force, education and training. The developing countries need to recalibrate their growth models to consolidate their positions by grooming highly skilled and technically qualified human resource base to maintain their economic growth rates and need to respond to the challenges posed by the ascent of knowledge economies. The core purpose to host this international congress is to bring national and international dignitaries, experts and stakeholders together to deliberate on developmental challenges and set path for policies and strategies for future development of Pakistan and South Asia. The Government of Pakistan has recently lunched “Vision 2025” that elucidates sustainable growth while keeping in view the importance of vision 2025 and priority areas set to reach the ultimate goal. HRDN decided to organize the Congress of 2014 on “Key to Sustainable Growth – Human Resource Development”. The Congress will mainly focus on one priority area of Vision 2025 i.e. SOCIAL CAPITAL, while reviewing the Government of Pakistan’s emphasis to discourse all areas of precedence.
