Helen asks…

Sperm question..Can you get pregnant?
Ok…So I have been reading all sorts of stories on yahoo and researching all on the internet
about sperm and it being in contact with the vagina. I am a virgin. So I have never had sex. I
understand you have to have interourse (kinda). Well..I came on my period DEC.3 and I took
the Fertility calculator and put in when I had started my period and etc. IT said I would
ovulate(I guess release an egg) between the 13th and the 23rd of DEC. Well, On the 11th I
spent the night over my bf house and took some of his sperm and inserted it in me. This has
been done before but I never got pregnant . I dont want to be naive but Im starting to think that
intercourse is the only way becasue, His sperm has been in contact with my vagina and aint
nothing ever happen. So basically I stayed their on the 11th of Dec. and they say sperm stays
alive in the body for 5 days which techinically means when I was ovulating the sperm was in
their..Does that mean It could of touched an egg?

By the way..I just took some of his sperm and put it in me…I dont think anything is wrong with
me..,. I mean I feel fine and I bet you Im still going to come on my period on the 3rd of
January.Plus I have read other stories where girls have done that or similar and yes I had his
consent to do that.
also…I know it dies within a couple of minutes of so in the air but As soon as he came I took it
and put it in me.. .thats why Im asking. But I feel fine and I havent thrown up or n e thing now I
understand some ppl dont have symptoms but I do want children ..I can have sex yeah but I just
wanted to see if the whole sperm coming in contact was true because, My mom says dont let
guys play with you down there. I had my fingers go as deep as I could With the sperm and I was
still wet at the time and from the articles That I read the sperm has to be in a moist enviornment
for it to still live and I was pppppppretty …..moist!Its not a big deal if Im not pregnant I just
wanted to see

                                                                                           1 / 10
Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:

Susan asks…

Pregnancy question, desperate for advice? What choice should I
make if this happens?
I am a college student getting my degree in Psychology right now. I have been in a relationship
with my boyfriend for 4 years, we live together. I MIGHT be pregnant, have not yet taken a test I
am about to take it but am thinking a lot before I do. I was on birth control for the last year but
stopped taking it 2 months ago because I was getting so nauseous all the time I needed to
change birth control methods. In the last month my boyfriend and I have had sex only once (I
have been way too scared to have sex without another form of birth control other than
condoms)

We used a condom and this was the day my period was ending (most women can only get
pregnant within 5 days from ovulation which isn’t until 2 weeks after the period) The condom
BROKE..my boyfriend and I hadn’t had sex in a month and it happened really fast and neither
of us knew it had broken until after. I called the doctor and also went online to do fertility
calculators which told me the day I had sex was NOT on a day I could get pregnant. This
calmed my nerves and I wasn’t worried.

                                                                                            2 / 10
Now, my period is 1 week late, no PMS symptoms, no pregnancy symptoms either but I need to
figure out what I am going to do. I feel SO IRRESPONSIBLE for not getting the morning after
pill like I knew I should of I just am scared to take such a new pill that messes with my body but
look what I have done now. I am a very mature young woman and NOT someone who should
be in this position and feel horrible that I have put myself here it is completely my fault.

Inside I feel like i CANT have a baby right now, my life is on such a good track I am about to get
my degree and then get my masters and I am so motivated and so sure of what I am going to
do and this would ruin that, my dream is to be a mother of course but not now! I am considering
abortion as an option but am of course not sure. I would not consider adoption and I am sure
many of you would yell at me and call me selfish and do so if you’d like but I would keep it
before even considering putting it up for adoption.

I am basically pleading for any advice to just give me a better idea of what I should do.I know it
is crazy coming on yahoo answers for this but I need some kind of outlet right now. It is crazy
because I work every day helping girls who are in much tougher life positions than I and live for
helping young kids and teens and now I feel hopeless and that I am the one in need of the help
and advice!

Thanks in advance.

Or . . . .

If you go to a Planned Parenthood clinic that has a low-income program it can be as cheap as
100$. If you tells them you have no job, no money and no support they will likely have you pay
the minimum for the procedure and get donations to cover the rest. 1-800-230-PLAN
(1-800-230-7526) to find the Planned Parenthood clinic nearest you.

You have the choice between the pill (which can be taken up to 11weeks, at home or at a
friends house) or the vacuum method (in clinic procedure). Personally I used the pill method so I
could be at home with my husband but some women want to have the surgical, so it’s done
and over with when they leave the clinic.

If you are underage you may want to check this site out to see about parental consent laws and
whatnot. Http://www.sexetc.org/state *Even if it says you need parental consent, you don’t. Call

Some state medicaid program do pay for it, use this link and figure out if your state covers it. If
they do, you can go to “welfare” office and get emergency coverage and the state and taxes

Pain on lower abdomen due to ovarian cyst or ovulation?
For about 3 to 4 days I’ve been having this pain on my lower abdomen, usually on the left side
but from time to time it switches to the right. I can have the pain on my left side and with a
matter of minutes it switches to the right. The first day I got the pain it was pretty bad but
nothing unbearable. As the days have gone by the pain has been less and less and less

                                                                                             4 / 10
frequent as well. I was thinking maybe it was because I was ovulating but I don’t really know
when I begin to ovulate, according to this ovulation calculator it says :High fertility, begin
significant fertility 11/25/09 and then it says ovulation end significant fertility 11/30/09. The
pain started on the 25th but I don’t know what those dates mean or anything, I don’t know how
to read the whole thing and I don’t remember ever having pain on my ovaries like this before
due to ovulation. I’ve been having more discharge lately, it’s a white color. And I sometimes
tend to get PMS symptoms 2 weeks early, so I thought maybe they are just cramps. I’ve also
been feeling a bit nauseous. But this girl told me that it is an ovarian cyst. So from what I have
described what does everybody think?
I’ve read on many websites that pain during ovulation is normal and that there is something
called mittelschmerz, a German word that means “middle pain.”
Also I don’t know if this means anything but 3 almost 4 months ago I took a Plan B pill since I
had an accident with my boyfriend, I know I’m not pregnant, I’ve taken 3 pregnancy test(took
one today in the morning) all of them came out negative and I’ve had 2 blood test done also
and my doctor didn’t tell me anything about being pregnant. I know that the pill can mess with
your system so could this have some part in it as well? The pain that I got was somewhat similar
to menstrual cramps, but the pain is pretty much non existent anymore, I only get mild pain at
least twice a day, and the longest it last is 2 to 4 minutes.

Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:

Ovarian cyst can cause a lot of pain on ovulation. Most women have a real sharp pain for a
couple of hours or so and then it goes away. So I don’t think this is what you have. I suggest
you talk to your doctor or nurse.

                                                                                           5 / 10
should i ask for a paternity test?
my girlfriend was on the pill and we had sex at the beginning of her period, i left town for work
and she decided to go off the pill the day after i left. that was june 20, i didnt see her until july
14, around the 5 of august she told me she was pregnant, the doctor said he thinks she got
pregnant around july 5 and the due date should be around april 5 today was the first ultra sound
i couldnt go cause of work, she said that shes 7 weeks 2 days pregnant according to the ultra
sound, according to the pregnancy calculator shes 9 weeks 2 days, im guessing cause the
date of pregnancy and conception are 2 weeks apart, it places her fertility window between
june 29 and july 9, her estimated conception date is the 4 of july, i was 1000 miles away,
according to the calculator the due date is march 26 and the dr said april 9, the dr and the
calculator are within 2 weeks of eachother so i believe they are accurate, i know that a girl can
get pregnant up to 3 days after sex and it takes 3 or 4 days to concieve (when the egg attaches
it self to the wall) but even with a weeks grace either way i cant figure how i got her pregnant, i
really dont want to ask for a test cause it will harm our relationship but i dont wanna be with a
cheater either, she swears she wouldnt cheat but weve all heard that before and when i ask
questions about the dates she gets mad and accuses me of not trusting her, which kinda makes
me wonder if i should, when i ask she sayd does it really matter? were having a baby, please
help i care for her alot and id love to have a family with her but im not accepting a child thats
not mine and im deffinetly not staying with a cheater

Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:

If her due date is April 5th, then her conception date is July 14th. You are already considered 2
weeks pregnant when you conceive. If the ultrasound said she is 7 weeks, two days, that
means 5 weeks and two days ago you got her pregnant. Ultrasounds in the first trimester are
highly accurate.

Don’t worry, you are the Daddy. Good luck!

Lizzie asks…

Was it meant for me to have only one child!!!?
March 2, 2007 was the first time getting my cycle since November 2006. Does this mean I did
not ovulate during that time, & that I may not have a normal ovulation cycle? I have a hard time
calculating ovulation because the longest cycle on the ovulation calculator is 40 days & wont
calculate any further.

I came from a family from which my grandmother had 12 children, 5 girls & 7 boys. All 5 of the
girls & 2 of the boys have only 1 child! 2 boys have no children, one boy have 3 & one boy have
2 children! Maybe this means nothing, but it’s just kind of strange to me, & I did not want to give
up hope, but I am the only child & I do not want my son to be an only child! He will be 7 years
old this year & I have been trying to concieve since 2004.
Does anyone know of any over the counter fertility pills? Have anyone ever tried FertilAid? I
was also reading something about clomid, but I did not like the sound of the fatal side effects.
Also, how effective are the fertility monitors?

                                                                                            7 / 10
Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:

I know the feeling of wanting a child and feeling like you will never get one. I just recently had a
baby (he is now 6 months old) and my husband and I tried for 4 years with no hope. I too come
from a large family ( I am the oldest of 10). I felt like my mother can have 10 and I can’t even
have one. I didn’t have regular cycles because of PCOS. I went to the doctor and she did a
whole bunch of test and found the PCOS and that I was a diabetic. She put me on clomid and I
started a diet to loose weight and only after one treatment I was pregnant. I couldn’t believe it
and still to this day I can’t believe that I am a mother. She said that it was the fastest she had
ever seen it work. I have not had a period since I had my son and I have started to gain all of
the weight back. I am sure that it will be a long hard time to conceive again but I am going to try
my hardest when that time comes. I have never taken the fertilaid. I hope that you don’t give
up. That was the hardest four years of my life but it was all worth it. Just because you have one
child does not believe that you shouldn’t feel this way. I feel that any woman who wants a child
deserves one. I know the feeling. Good luck you have my prayers.

Jenny asks…

two and a half years and still not getting pregnant? advice needed
please.?
I have a daughter of nearly 3 years old now, ever since i had her ive not once used any
contraception, i love kids and would like a big family. Ive been trying for near on 2.5-3 years
now. After a year of not getting pregnant i looked into all the ovulation calculators and the timing

                                                                                             8 / 10
of ovulation i even read up about certain things that help boost fertility such as exercise, good
diet, no caffeine etc etc. I was slightly over weight too only by around a stone so lost the weight
to give myself a good chance at getting pregnant. I started getting symptoms of pregnancy
every month with alot of pain about 1-2 weeks before my period. I then found out after going to
the doctors and having scans that i have a cyst on my wall, it is about the size of a ten pence
piece. My doctor told me that this will not affect me conceiving a baby (not so sure that’s 100%
true) and my consultant from the hospital decided that there was no need to remove it. So
basically its still there. About six months ago I tried some herbal tablets that are meant to help
women conceive etc etc i also got some herbal tablets for my other half that helps produce
healthier sperm, my partner is 42 this year i am 22 he has had 3 kids already his last one being
5 years ago, I have one little girl of nearly three years old, my partner in all honesty is quite fit
gets plenty of exercise eats very healthy doesn’t drink alcohol neither do i, the only thing he
does enjoy is his odd hot bath now and again which he’s started to lay off of. I really want a
baby, ive been backwards an forwards to my doctor and he doesn’t help me at all just tells me
to wait, ive been waiting 3 years, i don’t know whether that’s me being impatient but it seems
like forever especially when I keep getting told at 22 im at a great fertile age. I conceived my last
child in 4 months of trying so whats going wrong now? Ive been thinking of trying IVF because I
don’t know any other solution I have ran out of ideas. If anyone can give me advice please do. I
have explained everything I can, at the moment i’m beginning to feel like im infertile, and I have
done the thing of just let it happen now im beginning to feel slightly annoyed with my body, I
have done everything i can. Any advice on anything i have said will be a bonus. Any ideas why
I’m not getting pregnant? Could my cyst be causing the problem and my doctor is wrong? I
don’t know, any ideas? anyone?

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:

If you have been trying for 3 years and have not been successful, then its way overdue for you
to see a fertility specialist.

Ask your doctor to refer you.

Honestly, he should not be telling you to wait longer. In North America, it is recommended to
see a doctor after 1 year of trying without success.

Your doctor is wasting your time. Ask for a referral or go to a differnet doctor to get one.

I am basically pleading for any advice to just give me a better idea of what I should do.I know it is crazy coming on yahoo answers for this but I need some kind of outlet right now. It is crazy because I work every day helping girls who are in much tougher life positions than I and live for helping young kids and teens and now I feel hopeless and that I am the one in need of the help and advice! Thanks in advance. Pregnancy Advisor’s answers: Try the Vitamin C I recommended. Http://www.sisterzeus.com/Hsp1shlp.htm Or . . . . You have the choice between the pill (which can be taken up to 11weeks, at home or at a friends house) or the vacuum method (in clinic procedure). Personally I used the pill method so I could be at home with my husband but some women want to have the surgical, so it’s done and over with when they leave the clinic. For about 3 to 4 days I’ve been having this pain on my lower abdomen, usually on the left side but from time to time it switches to the right. I can have the pain on my left side and with a matter of minutes it switches to the right. The first day I got the pain it was pretty bad but nothing unbearable. As the days have gone by the pain has been less and less and less 4 / 10
  • 5. frequent as well. I was thinking maybe it was because I was ovulating but I don’t really know when I begin to ovulate, according to this ovulation calculator it says :High fertility, begin significant fertility 11/25/09 and then it says ovulation end significant fertility 11/30/09. The pain started on the 25th but I don’t know what those dates mean or anything, I don’t know how to read the whole thing and I don’t remember ever having pain on my ovaries like this before due to ovulation. I’ve been having more discharge lately, it’s a white color. And I sometimes tend to get PMS symptoms 2 weeks early, so I thought maybe they are just cramps. I’ve also been feeling a bit nauseous. But this girl told me that it is an ovarian cyst. So from what I have described what does everybody think? I’ve read on many websites that pain during ovulation is normal and that there is something called mittelschmerz, a German word that means “middle pain.” Also I don’t know if this means anything but 3 almost 4 months ago I took a Plan B pill since I had an accident with my boyfriend, I know I’m not pregnant, I’ve taken 3 pregnancy test(took one today in the morning) all of them came out negative and I’ve had 2 blood test done also and my doctor didn’t tell me anything about being pregnant. I know that the pill can mess with your system so could this have some part in it as well? The pain that I got was somewhat similar to menstrual cramps, but the pain is pretty much non existent anymore, I only get mild pain at least twice a day, and the longest it last is 2 to 4 minutes. Pregnancy Advisor’s answers: Ovarian cyst can cause a lot of pain on ovulation. Most women have a real sharp pain for a couple of hours or so and then it goes away. So I don’t think this is what you have. I suggest you talk to your doctor or nurse. Ruth asks… 5 / 10
  • 6. should i ask for a paternity test? my girlfriend was on the pill and we had sex at the beginning of her period, i left town for work and she decided to go off the pill the day after i left. that was june 20, i didnt see her until july 14, around the 5 of august she told me she was pregnant, the doctor said he thinks she got pregnant around july 5 and the due date should be around april 5 today was the first ultra sound i couldnt go cause of work, she said that shes 7 weeks 2 days pregnant according to the ultra sound, according to the pregnancy calculator shes 9 weeks 2 days, im guessing cause the date of pregnancy and conception are 2 weeks apart, it places her fertility window between june 29 and july 9, her estimated conception date is the 4 of july, i was 1000 miles away, according to the calculator the due date is march 26 and the dr said april 9, the dr and the calculator are within 2 weeks of eachother so i believe they are accurate, i know that a girl can get pregnant up to 3 days after sex and it takes 3 or 4 days to concieve (when the egg attaches it self to the wall) but even with a weeks grace either way i cant figure how i got her pregnant, i really dont want to ask for a test cause it will harm our relationship but i dont wanna be with a cheater either, she swears she wouldnt cheat but weve all heard that before and when i ask questions about the dates she gets mad and accuses me of not trusting her, which kinda makes me wonder if i should, when i ask she sayd does it really matter? were having a baby, please help i care for her alot and id love to have a family with her but im not accepting a child thats not mine and im deffinetly not staying with a cheater Pregnancy Advisor’s answers: If her due date is April 5th, then her conception date is July 14th. You are already considered 2 weeks pregnant when you conceive. If the ultrasound said she is 7 weeks, two days, that means 5 weeks and two days ago you got her pregnant. Ultrasounds in the first trimester are highly accurate. Don’t worry, you are the Daddy. Good luck! Lizzie asks… Was it meant for me to have only one child!!!? March 2, 2007 was the first time getting my cycle since November 2006. Does this mean I did not ovulate during that time, & that I may not have a normal ovulation cycle? I have a hard time calculating ovulation because the longest cycle on the ovulation calculator is 40 days & wont calculate any further. I came from a family from which my grandmother had 12 children, 5 girls & 7 boys. All 5 of the girls & 2 of the boys have only 1 child! 2 boys have no children, one boy have 3 & one boy have 2 children! Maybe this means nothing, but it’s just kind of strange to me, & I did not want to give up hope, but I am the only child & I do not want my son to be an only child! He will be 7 years old this year & I have been trying to concieve since 2004. Does anyone know of any over the counter fertility pills? Have anyone ever tried FertilAid? I was also reading something about clomid, but I did not like the sound of the fatal side effects. Also, how effective are the fertility monitors? 7 / 10
  • 8. Pregnancy Advisor’s answers: I know the feeling of wanting a child and feeling like you will never get one. I just recently had a baby (he is now 6 months old) and my husband and I tried for 4 years with no hope. I too come from a large family ( I am the oldest of 10). I felt like my mother can have 10 and I can’t even have one. I didn’t have regular cycles because of PCOS. I went to the doctor and she did a whole bunch of test and found the PCOS and that I was a diabetic. She put me on clomid and I started a diet to loose weight and only after one treatment I was pregnant. I couldn’t believe it and still to this day I can’t believe that I am a mother. She said that it was the fastest she had ever seen it work. I have not had a period since I had my son and I have started to gain all of the weight back. I am sure that it will be a long hard time to conceive again but I am going to try my hardest when that time comes. I have never taken the fertilaid. I hope that you don’t give up. That was the hardest four years of my life but it was all worth it. Just because you have one child does not believe that you shouldn’t feel this way. I feel that any woman who wants a child deserves one. I know the feeling. Good luck you have my prayers. Jenny asks… two and a half years and still not getting pregnant? advice needed please.? I have a daughter of nearly 3 years old now, ever since i had her ive not once used any contraception, i love kids and would like a big family. Ive been trying for near on 2.5-3 years now. • 9. of ovulation i even read up about certain things that help boost fertility such as exercise, good diet, no caffeine etc etc. I was slightly over weight too only by around a stone so lost the weight to give myself a good chance at getting pregnant. I started getting symptoms of pregnancy every month with alot of pain about 1-2 weeks before my period. I then found out after going to the doctors and having scans that i have a cyst on my wall, it is about the size of a ten pence piece. My doctor told me that this will not affect me conceiving a baby (not so sure that’s 100% true) and my consultant from the hospital decided that there was no need to remove it. So basically its still there. About six months ago I tried some herbal tablets that are meant to help women conceive etc etc i also got some herbal tablets for my other half that helps produce healthier sperm, my partner is 42 this year i am 22 he has had 3 kids already his last one being 5 years ago, I have one little girl of nearly three years old, my partner in all honesty is quite fit gets plenty of exercise eats very healthy doesn’t drink alcohol neither do i, the only thing he does enjoy is his odd hot bath now and again which he’s started to lay off of. I really want a baby, ive been backwards an forwards to my doctor and he doesn’t help me at all just tells me to wait, ive been waiting 3 years, i don’t know whether that’s me being impatient but it seems like forever especially when I keep getting told at 22 im at a great fertile age. I conceived my last child in 4 months of trying so whats going wrong now? Ive been thinking of trying IVF because I don’t know any other solution I have ran out of ideas. If anyone can give me advice please do. I have explained everything I can, at the moment i’m beginning to feel like im infertile, and I have done the thing of just let it happen now im beginning to feel slightly annoyed with my body, I have done everything i can. Any advice on anything i have said will be a bonus. Any ideas why I’m not getting pregnant? Could my cyst be causing the problem and my doctor is wrong? I don’t know, any ideas? anyone? Thank you for taking the time to read this. Pregnancy Advisor’s answers: If you have been trying for 3 years and have not been successful, then its way overdue for you to see a fertility specialist. Ask your doctor to refer you. Honestly, he should not be telling you to wait longer. In North America, it is recommended to see a doctor after 1 year of trying without success. Your doctor is wasting your time. Ask for a referral or go to a differnet doctor to get one. 9 / 10
