2. This Lesson Plan is designed for 1st Grade of Primary
Education. For this reason, it is important to adapt a
specific methodology for our students in order to meet the
three stages in learning (MMM):

• Making the language your own

4. In this Lesson Plan students will:
• Identify and recognise the main parts of a
flower (flower, petals, pollen, stem, leaves
and roots).
• Follow instructions to label a flower.
• Listen to and to sing a song (The parts of a
flower song).

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
-In the last lesson we introduced the new vocabulary.
-We read a book “Parts of the plant” by Wiley Blevins.
-We listen to and sing a song.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
-To identify and recognize the parts of a flower.
-To follow instructions to label a flower.
-To listen to and to sing a song “The parts of a flower song”.
-To practice the language using Total Physical Response.

ASSESSMENT:
-Initial assessment: Through revision of flashcards, TPR
activities, games, vocabulary brainstorming, oral short

6. LESSON DEVELOPMENT: 1h and 30 min Lesson
1st Activity: Routines (10 min)
Focused on knowing different ways of greeting and other useful vocabulary to enable the children to follow daily
routines, a conversation or instructions:
-Greeting “Hello”, Good afternoon”.
-Singing the Hello song.
-Asking and responding to the question “How are you today”? and What’s the weather looks like today?
-Naming the days of the week.
-Writing the date on the board.

2nd Activity: Parts of a flower song (20 min)
This is an opening activity to review and sing the key vocabulary.

Materials: Flashcards and the digital board.
3rd Activity: Flower Flip Book (35 min)
First, cut the Flip Book. Fold flip book in half. Have students color their flower first, then cut on the dotted lines.
Label the three parts inside, then have students write the main parts of the flower ( flower, petals, pollen, stem,
leaves and roots) inside the flip book.
