the Parliament’s openness
We help to establish MPs’ communi
cation with voters and local authorities.
This is done through the Model District
Project, which strengthens cooperation
between MPs and voters for addressing
problems of importance to the district.
Participants in the Project include
seven MPs of Ukraine – from majority
districts as well as those elected under
party lists – that represent different factions
of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
Through the conduct of Town
Halls – meetings of urban community
representatives at which important
problems are discussed and resolved.
– Educational campaigns
– Videos highlighting the functions and work of the
Parliament and the MPs
– The educational game “AGORA: a democratic
procedure for law adoption at the Verkhovna Rada
of Ukraine” that imitates the legislative process in
Ukraine, and educational films for students
– TV programs “Expensive MPs” and “RE:forma”
– Daily educational work on interaction with the MPs
and the VRU through OPORA consultants in all
oblasts of Ukraine
– Trainings of the Program for public activists on
interaction with the Parliament and involvement in
the legislative process

This is a consortium of Ukrainian nongovernmental
organizations consisting of East Europe Foundation,
Civil Network OPORA, Internews Ukraine NGO,
and Agency for Legislative Initiatives NGO
• Participation in the creation and examination of a
parliamentary reform roadmap, parliamentary ethics
issues
• Through the Training Center of the USAID RADA
Program – advanced training of VRU staff
• Training of MPs and their aides – at the Training
Center of the USAID RADA Program
• The only official Youth Internship Program at the
Parliament
• Information and Research Center at the VRU, respon
sible for preparing analytical materials concerning
formation of state policy and legislation
• Searching, analytical and exploratory activities
concerning sectoral policies and law of foreign states
• Regular meetings of representatives of technical
assistance projects with Committees’ secretariats
for establishing cooperation and developing joint
initiatives
• E-Parliament: e-agenda for meetings of VRU

monitoring the work of majoritarian MPs for three years

Committees, thus promoting accountability and openness
of their work
• Platform “Portal for public discussions of draft laws” which
enables ordinary citizens and experts to get involved
in commenting on draft laws being discussed in the
Committees
