• KZ is the 9th largest country by size in the world
• It’s a huge place with a very small population:17 million people
• KZ translates as “Land of the Wanderers”
• The people who live in KZ represent more than 120 nationalities

• Proud to became a independent country:
Highest law of Kazakhstan: The Constitution was
approved by referendum on 30 August 1995

World Heritage List
The Mausoleum of Khawaja Ahmed Yasawi is an
unfinished mausoleum in the city of Turkestan, in southern
Kazakhstan from 1405
Tamgaly is a petroglyph site in the Semirechye, KZ
The petroglyphs are from the Bronze Age, b the Iron Age &
the Medieval
Saryarka — Steppe and Lakes of Northern KZ is a part of
the Uplands
The two reserves contain wetlands, which serve as
important stop-over points for migrating birds from Africa,
Europe, and South Asia

Koylek, Saukele & Kupe
1. Koylek: made by folding an integral piece of fabric in half and sewing the sides laterally
from the armpits to the bottom hem
2. Saukele: wide dressing gown with long sleeves while a wedding gown is often a saukele
made of expensive red fabric
3. Kupe: is warm women's clothing typically made of fox fur, and is rarely made from goat
skin

1. Kuurdak is one of the main and oldest dishes in Central Asian Cuisine. It is is usually
made from mutton
2. Shelpek is a traditional Kazakh flatbread commonly consumed all over the country
3. The main ingredients are: flour, milk, sugar, butter, sour cream, baking soda, salt and
vegetable oil
4. Kazakh Manti is normally ground lamb (sometimes beef or horse meat), spiced with
black pepper, sometimes with the addition of chopped pumpkin or squash
