Emeritus professor and former chairman of Internal Medicine, Cairo University. Authored 45 chapters in 30 textbooks on kidney diseases, and published close to 200 papers with about 2000 citations. Main research interests are schistosomal nephropathies, tropical nephrology, and epidemiology of kidney disease. Founding Editor of Kidney Forum, guest editor for Artificial Organs, and served as associate, section or advisory editor for 18 international journals and reviewer for 35 periodicals.
