2. Outlines
• What are the components of circulatory
system?
• What the circulatory system do ?
• What is systematic circulation?
• What is pulmonary circulation ?
3. Objectives
• At end of the presentation the audiences
will understand what is the circulatory
system in general and the importance of
the system .
4. Circulatory system
• The circulatory system refers to how the body
keeps blood moving through the body
(circulating).
5. What the Circulatory System Do?
• It supplies oxygen and nutrients to our bodies.
• It helps carry waste and carbon dioxide out of
the body.
7. Veins and Arteries
• Arteries Carry oxygenated blood from heart
to all body organs .
• Veins carry deoxygenated blood from all body
organs to the heart .
9. Capillaries
• They connect arteries and veins .
• Enable the exchange of water ,oxygen ,carbon
dioxide, nutrients and chemical substances .
Capillaries are narrow with thin walls
11. Heart
• Is a muscular organ .
• Its function is to pump the blood.
• Heart is divided into the right and the left
side .
12. Heart is Located in thoracic cavity
between lungs towards the left side of the
chest .
13. The human heart have four chambers :
1. Right atrium .
2. Right ventricle.
3. Left atrium.
4. Left ventricle.
14.
15. The human heart have four valves :
• Aortic valve.
• Tricuspid valve .
• Pulmonic valve .
• Mitral valve .
The heart contains valves to prevent the blood
flowing backwards.
16.
17. Heart layers
•Each layer has a different function, which primarily
aids the pumping action of the heart which allows the
blood to flow around the body.
18. The major blood vessels that branch
out of the heart are:
• Aorta
• Superior and inferior vena cava
• Pulmonary arteries
• Pulmonary veins
