5. Background EcoDisc. History. The EcoDisc was invented in 2006 in an effort to create a new DVD medium with its impact on the environment in mind. The focus was to engineer a product which was lighter, uses less energy, dispenses with the need of the harmful toxic bonder and is altogether greener than common media.
