COURSE DESCRIPTION
B2+ in English (CEFR)
 Around 120 hours
 105 minutes + 30 minutes
every two weeks
 From 3rd October 2017 to 8th or 10th May
2018
 Tuesdays and Thursdays and approx. one
Friday a month.
 Class on Fridays:

2nd March

 Develop communication in many situations and
functions (expressing opinions, agreeing and
disagreeing, emphasizing, giving advice, solving
problems, suggesting, persuading, narrating and
describing, complaining, presenting a topic,
reviewing).
 Speak and improve fluency and accuracy
 Read texts (authentic books, internet, newspapers)
 Listen (interviews, YouTube, radio, news, TV,
documentary extracts)
 Write ( a "for and against" composition, expressing an
opinion, articles, narrating stories, summarizing,
informal and formal letters (complaint letters, job
applications), book and film reviews and reports, use
of discourse markers to link ideas)
 Review grammar (tenses, modals,
pronouns, prepositions, articles, types of
sentences (conditional, relative, contrast,
result, reason, purpose, etc.),
complementation patterns in sentences,
gerunds and infinitives, passive voice.
 New grammar: inversion, cleft sentences,
distancing strategies.
 Review and learn vocabulary (new idioms
and phrasal verbs, metaphors, synonyms
and collocations).

 At least, one authentic book from a selection
of a list you can find on the wiki:

  One book review will be done about it:
to be handed in by 15th
February 2018.
1) Oral presentation (5 minutes related to any
topic from a list you can find on the wiki)
It will be done in the small oral groups at the
end of the class.
2) Article, entry, review, etc. for school
magazine (voluntary)

class, written assignments, oral tasks, etc.
2) EXAMS
 Mock exam in February: first week.
 Prueba de Certificación (May) (to be announced).
 Prueba de Certificación extraordinaria
(June), (to be announced).
 The exams will test each of the following four skills
Each skill must be passed (60%) to pass the course
BUT, if you get a minimum of 13 in a maximum of two skills
and the total averages 60% or more, the course will also be
passed.
 In June, only the skills that haven’t been passed must be
retaken.

  • 21.  Please don’t leave us!  In October: “permuta”, look for another student who wants to change with you (there is a list on a notice board, steps to 1st floor) then go to Secretaría and talk to the teachers  Later: talk to the teacher of the class you want to change to and go to Secretaría.
