Personal Growth Plan
4.The Importance of Personal Growth Plans
Like professional athletes, effective leaders must continuously stretch and grow their leadership
skills. In college ministry, personal development is not only about building strengths it is the
commodity of the community. Despite living and working among educators and students for over
twenty years, it still surprises me how much more engaging students, faculty, and administrators are
since I began this program; clearly personal growth is the currency that moves the machine.
Capacity for Leadership
Recently, I had the privilege to hear Russell Maryland, former Dallas Cowboys star, speak to a
group of students at Tarrant County College. Discussing the importance of continued personal
growth, he...show more content...
From the local ministry to a national conference, the core value is to engage people; students,
volunteers, and staff; in relationships that stretch and prepare them for continued growth. Simply
urging others to grow is insufficient, we must also furnish them with practical tools; resources,
opportunities, and personal experience (Wilson, 2013). If we have embraced this culture of
personal development, we already have the resources at our disposal; we need only make this list of
books or podcasts available to others. While opportunities for personal growth will involve relevant
retreats and conferences, but should also include mission trips and service projects that encourage
them to live outside their comfort zone. Finally, personal experience entails both inviting the student
to observe the leader as well as releasing responsibilities to the faithful and prepared student. Our
investments to support the personal growth of students is one way we can communicate how much
we value others, an essential responsibility of leadership (Eims,

Essay on Personality and Personal Growth
Personality and Personal Growth
"An integral being knows without going, sees without looking and accomplishes without doing" –
Lao Tzu
The text book definition of Personality is an individual's unique pattern of thoughts, feelings and
behaviors that persist over time and across situations. I agree with this idea that a personality is
what makes all of us who we are. I believe that a personality is a combination of innate
characteristics that everyone is born with and the sum of total life experiences. I believe that a
personality is a portrayal of an individual's reality. The way that an individual walks, talks, speaks
and even the career path that they choose to go on is all a reflection of their personality. I believe that

Like my niece teaching me to slow down and look at life more open minded and less judgmental, I
also teach her about the responsibilities of life, I guess you could say that we teach each other to
find a happy medium.
My beliefs can be summarized as follows 1. You mustalways live your life to the fullest, 2. Make
mistakes because that is the only way that you are going to learn, and grow 3. In order to find
happiness one must first suffer to discover what is in front of them. These are only three that I found
but in my opinion there are many more.
I believe that an individual's growth is determined on the way that they choose to live their life. All
beings are given a choice, a fork in the road to follow. Once you have chosen the road to take then
the lessons that you come upon are the ones that you are meant to learn. My mom always says to me
when I get frustrated that I made the choice to live the life that I am living. The problems that I
encounter during this lifetime are the ones that I have to encounter in order to find true happiness. I
was once told that when any person is about to come to earth they sign a contract stating that they
have different lessons to learn in order to find true happiness, if they do not learn the lessons that
they are meant to learn then the challenges to teach them will follow them through to the next

My Personal Growth And Development
I am making the assessment upon my personal growth through the course of Personal Growth and
Development.
From the 40 Questions Assignment, I take 5 words that describe me are Integrity, Compassion,
Fighter, Caring and Friend. I maintain integrity in any given situation as part of character. I also
have compassion toward others, especially the ones who have less favorable conditions. When I
fight, I do not stop neither I quit. I finish what I start. I care for many things maybe I a little more
care than I should. And a good and loyal friend I am, that is maybe the reason I do not have a true
friend toward myself. People tend to enjoy my friendship and forgotten about their role to function
as a friend in return. And my personality says "I am a simple yet complex character, at first
impression people may catch what they don't like about me until they care enough to know me
more personally and they will find the true friend means." The list of my strengths as my valuable
assets is I am multi–talented person and possess many skills up to the level of mastery. Most of the
skills and qualities I have were attained in self–taught process. Some people said that I am close to
genius but I look at myself more to diligent in study and attention to detail person. I tend to be too
aggressive, although people may think differently because of my size. The two sides of my
personality, caring but at the other time I can be so cold. The biggest conflict in my personality is

Personal Growth Through Learning Essay
I've made it my passion to be a life–long learner to sharpen my skills, abilities and God–given talent.
When an individual doesn't make a conscience effort to expand their minds, then they are actually
making a decision to begin to digress. Being an older college student, my desire is to learn
everything that I possibly can with the aid of Victory University. It was fascinating reading about
Rene' Descartes who grew up in France. Descartes was also a life–long learner. He was the thinker
and writer who coined the phrase, "I think, therefore I am" (Gluck, Mercado, & Myers, 2014, p. 7).
Although Descartes existed during the time of the Renaissance, his theory that the eyes were
significant to stimulating other parts of the body, such...show more content...
Many individuals play themselves down because they are not fully aware of their capabilities. A
focused and intentional person can accomplish a lot in a day if they put their minds to it. The
strength of the mind with faith and belief plays a very crucial role in a successful person's life. Dr.
David Schwartz in The Magic of Thinking Big states, "Believe, really believe, you can move a
mountain, and you can" (Schwartz, 1959, p. 9). My heart's desire is to become a better student
each year by applying the things that I learned previously. However, in order to do this, it is
imperative that I create a plan in my schedule to focus on reading the material in advance prior to
the instructor's lecture. By doing this, I'm able to grasp the material a little easier by already
being informed of the terminology and phrases that are common to that particular class. I enjoy
reading; however, sometime I can view it as a chore. Nonetheless, the most productive way for me
to accomplish my reading schedule is to become desensitized to by reading and studying according
to my schedule. Knowing that the more that I do something like this, then the more likely it will
become habit. At that time, I will be doing it mostly without thinking much about it. I will be in a
much better position to allow generalization to occur. By generalizing, I will transfer my past
learning to new situations and problems (Gluck et al., 2014, p. 209).

Personal Growth In Academic Environment
Personal Growth in Academic Environments
School is generally perceived as a strictly academic environment. Students think of this setting as a
learning center for subjects like math, history, science and English. However, when taking a closer
look, it is easy to see that school teaches students much more. School teaches students a multitude of
life lessons, such as personal development. Often, school helps students grow personally, rather than
academically.
Students grow in many ways throughout their years of schooling, and they learn several qualities
that help them mature. These qualities include respect, perseverance, and integrity. Students learn to
persevere through difficult social situations and seemingly worthless curriculum. They demonstrate
integrity through their academic honesty or lack thereof. Lastly, students learn to show respect for
teachers, peers, and themselves, regardless of the circumstances.
One quality many students develop in school is respect. Academic environments teach students to
respect teachers, peers, and even themselves. Despite their cruel discrimination, Mark Cotharn
respected his teachers.
Unlike the teachers at my old school, the teachers at my new school did not give any special
treatment for athletes. [...] I had gotten good grades up to this point, and I had no reason to think
that the situation would change. Even so, my teachers' preconceived ideas upset me (Cotharn 295).
Although his teachers did not treat him with respect, Cotharn

College Admissions Essay: My Personal Growth
My personal growth is a significant aspect of who I am, moreover, this continues to be a trait I
strive to develop. To understand how far I've come as a person, you need to see where I came from
and what motivated me to change.
Growing up, I hated father's Day.
When the other kids snipped away to Hallmark history with neon safety scissors and half–dried glue
sticks, I sat in indecision, unsure how to proceed. That's when Ms. Kats thoughtfully said I could
make two cards, I was left reeling. In the eyes of an anxious five–year–old, her kind consideration
felt like an accusation.
Now, seventeen years and counting, I wouldn't change the cards I've been dealt. But, that isn't to
deny that growing up in a same sex parent household was challenging. When inquisition became
ignorance, and quiet looks became gawking stares – growing to...show more content...
Looking back, I can call out my egregious perception of the past for what it is – a desperation for
someone to blame. Some fall–guy for my childhood insecurities. It just so happened that I picked the
empty role of Mother as a scapegoat. Now, as an advocator for equal rights and a member of the
LGBTQ+ community myself, I realize that my insecurities were only a symptom of a societal
condition. The real cause of my reluctance to accept my parents wasn't because my family dynamic
was wrong (there's nothing, for me, that feels more right). The real cause is a lack of positive
representation. When kids in my situation turn an eye outward, they rarely, if ever, find a familiar
reflection staring back. I learned this – when I no longer looked to schoolyard prattle as fact, instead

Personal Statement On Personal Growth Essay
Introduction I believe that the majority of personal growth comes from surrounding oneself with
people who are different, so for my interview, I consulted my Hispanic male friend, Alberto. My
reason for doing so was I expected his identity to contrast with my own of many different levels. I
had high anticipation to the responses I would receive from him due to his different identity. In
retrospect, I was surprised by my findings and how they related to my teachings and my personal
perception. Race When I sat down with Alberto, I questioned him on the awareness of the role his
race played in his life. His response was similar to my personal experiences in which he felt as
though he didn 't encounter much racism on a social level. He elaborated by saying that he
experienced notable racism only in the workforce. Alberto says that he never had much trouble
locating a job because whenever people say his race that would offer him work based on the
grounds that he was a "hard worker". When Alberto spoke of this I could hear the irritation in his
voice. "People would often hire me because they said my race meant I was a hard worker, but
truthfully I work as much as anyone else" (personal communication, July 21, 2016). When Alberto
said this I immediately thought of the definition of a micro–aggressor. Alberto gave another example
of a common microaggressor he encountered. Alberto goes to an HBCU and people often ask him
"where are you from?", to which Alberto would reply with the

Personal Growth in College Essay
So far, the college experience has made me a changed person. College changed me into a better
person on many occasions. I have learned to be more responsible, when it comes down to getting
work done. In college you must be responsible. I have also changed my attitude. Moving from high
school to college is a big step; if you don't change your ways for the better then you might not be
successful in college. When you reach college then is the time that you become an adult.
First off, the college life has changed me for the better. I am much more responsible in many
different ways. I had to change my study habits, or should I say I have to get study habits. I high
school I never studied, because everything came so easy to me and I could just...show more content...
That's just one example, there are many more. Another reason college is a big step is because you're
on your own, and you don't have nobody to tell you what to do, you make your own decisions when
it has to deal with getting up early in the morning to go to class, you have your parents or anyone to
wake you up, it's a big step, you just have to stay focus.
Third of all, you have to change your attitude toward school. You have to want to finish school;
you have to think about the money you are spending to go to school. For example you are paying
for every class you take and if you fail a class then you are paying for the same class again. College
is a major step from high school. I personally wasn't ready for college, but this being my second
year I understand what I have to do to finish school. I understand more and more why education is
a major issue in life, especially a college education. Entering college you have to change your game
plan to get where you want to be in life.
In conclusion, the college experience has made me a changed person. It has made me a changed
person for the better. I have learned a lot, I have learned responsibility. Without responsibility in
college you will not make very far. You must get your work done, and be punctual. You must make
the right decisions, don't let peer pressure get to you, try to avoid it. Don't let college change you for
the worst, take advantage of

My Personal Goals Essay
As a child and even as a teenager one tends to make dreams and set goals for life. On occasion these
goals are far stretched and sometimes even fairy–tale like, we tend to see life through a rose–colored
glass, not taking into account the many sidetracks life throws our way. At that stage in life our goals
tend to be less focused and somewhat unreachable. However, the process of growing up, or
maturing, tends organized and center our goals, we learn to make compromises and set goals for
our goals. There are different types of goals, short term and long term. I have learned to separate the
many goals I have into three main categories: family, professional and personal.
First, my family goals include how I see myself and how I see my...show more content...
I have planned monthly individual date nights with my children, so that they can have my undivided
attention for a certain period of time.
The second family short term goal takes into account my marriage. In order to raise happy and
healthy children, a happy and healthy relationship with one's spouse is paramount. In order to
achieve this goal my husband and I have decided to also dedicate more time for the two of us. For
the next year we have made an agreement to take at least one vacation together, so that we may
increase the bond that brought us together. We have also decided that for the next three year we
will spend Holidays as a family so that we may create our own family traditions, we will do
whatever is in our power to spend Holidays together, that includes not working or making other plans
with the rest of our immediate families.
On many occasions my personal goals have come before my professional aspirations. A career in
the medical field has always been something I have looked forward to. As a child I wanted and
dreamed of being a doctor, however due to the choices I made in life and the priorities that I had
not thought of, I have come to realize that my childhood dream may not come true. Yet, I was
able to compromise and make short and long term goals that will lead me into a career in the
medical field. My long term goal is to enter the medical field world and be a respected contributor
to it. I want to be able to help others in the time of need. In

Personal Growth Analysis
I experienced a great deal of personal growth over the weekend that I spent in Morgan Monroe.
Firstly, I experienced a growth in my own inner confidence. Growing up, I was a shy child. I was
very insecure with myself and that led to me being nervous and introverted around people,
something I still sometimes struggle with. Over the years, it has gotten somewhat better. I've
attended various leadership camps and took charge of many different events or clubs around my high
school. However, none of them were able to push me out of my comfort zone quite like this class
was. The class was full of unfamiliar people. I was, and am, still new to college, to Bloomington, and
to Indiana. I was definitely not at easy during the first couple of classroom sessions. I was nervous
going into the weekend because I only had one friend who I had known for all of a couple of weeks.

I had done some long day hikes as well as other strenuous outdoor activates, but I had never done
anything as physically taxing as backpacking. I definitely struggled the first day. The pack was a lot
heavier then I had originally thought, especially when we began to walk uphill. When we had
stopped for the night, I was certain that by Saturday night I would be so sore that I wouldn't be able
to move. By the second morning I was certain that my fears had been confirmed–the pack was
definitely causing some pain in my hips. However, once we really got started, I forgot all about
the sore muscles and the bruises. The weather was much too nice to worry about anything. Every
time I took the pack off I worried about the same thing, but every time I put it back on it felt
lighter. My mind kept focusing on things other than the heavy pack. By the time we settled for the
night, I knew that could survive backpacking. I probably couldn't go out for a week right now, but
with a little practice and a little more time spent backpacking, I for sure could

A Journey of Personal Growth
Becoming a college student has always seemed so far away; an eternity would pass before I grew
up and became more mature. Yet here I am, a Running Start student who was given the
opportunity to experience college at a younger age than is standard. Being able to start a little bit
earlier has indeed been beneficial. At first, it was definitely intimidating, for it is such a different
pace than what I have become used to; a slow paced kind of education. I have noticed that I am a
fast learner, so taking my education slow was not really an option for me. That is why I took the
challenge of more complex learning at a community college. After investing much time and effort,
my writing skills have improved tremendously Coming fresh into college, there are a lot of basic
classes that everyone needs to take. One of them is English 101, a class that is required for every
degree that is offered here at Highline. I knew that it would not be easy, especially for me. I was
never a good writer, for there was always something that I was struggling with, such as not going
deep enough, or the writing being very bland. I put some of the blame on my past teachers;, their
way of teaching how to be an effective writer was not effective. What they taught was very
structured and did not leave much room for a student to grow.
As we come to a closing in this English 101 course, I can confidently say that I am leaving with
much more knowledge than when I first

The Importance Of Personal Growth
Personal growth and change are compatible, in which they share the same concept. Life is constantly
altering and evolving. Being a subset of change, the definition of personal growth is enhancement to
individual's life in various aspects. It circles around the mental, physical, social, emotional,
economical, and spiritual growth that allows a person to live life to their standards. This can range
from the feelings about oneself, healthy self– esteem, to developing talents, and means of
employment. Personal growth can be achieved by counseling, therapy, interventions, ideas skills, and

we have little experience at making crucial life decisions and we need to accept more

Reflection On Personal Growth
Personal Growth Reflection This course was enlightening, it helped me to open my eyes to new
issues of concern in my community and our culture and it addressed large issues that specifically
affected the quality of education starting with the quality of teachers. The class allowed me to step
out of my comfort zone and to see things from other perspectives while challenging me to consider
different concepts and new ways of thinking. I learned to look at things from the larger picture, both
Macro and Micro levels of an issue and to consider all factors that influence or affects a situation or a
person. After taking the class my perspective on many issues has changed due to the information that
I was presented with that suggested that my view was incorrect and in a few cases biased. I am
happy that I took this course and I found it to be very intriguing, it has pointed me in the right
direction and brought me closer to becoming culturally competent. Early on in the course we were
introduced to common myths, misconceptions, and stereotypes when it relates to one's race,
ethnicity, or culture, more specifically those regarding Immigrants. The "Myths and facts about
immigrants" assignment provided a lot of valuable information about misconceptions and racial
prejudice that our culture has accepted as facts, which negatively affects individuals of the Latino
community. After completing the assignment, I realized that this was a much larger issue than I had

It is my personal opinion that life is about growth. Personal growth, as well as professional growth,
is important to me. I also believe that to experience growth you have to be open to change. In this
class, we have discussed many topics related to human relations. We have explored areas such as
communication, self–awareness, self–acceptance, motivation, trust, self–disclosure, and conflict
resolution. The purpose of this paper is to discuss what I feel are the most important concepts for
me to carry forward and how I will utilize what I have learned to enhance both my personal and
professional life and have success in both areas. If I said it was possible to choose one or two
concepts and deem them most important for personal and professional success, I would be

When I Grow Up..
"Being 'grown up' isn't as fun as the idea of growing up."
–AmberGrace Seguin
Remember when we were young and all we could think of was growing up and getting to do
'grownup' things? We spent our whole childhood thinking of what we would do when we finally
'grew up', and here we are, almost completely grown up and we still haven't made up our mind of
what it is we will do when we grow up. We've painted this pretty little picture in our head of what
it'll be like when we eventually do grow up, and when it finally comes for the picture to be taken off
the wall and put into action, it's not nearly as fun as creating the painting.

As we continue to grow up, we learn that being grown up is not as we imagined it. We once
convinced ourselves that growing up was the goal to achieve, and life would be much better once
we were in fact grown up. When we in fact do grow up, we think back at our youth and laugh
because we thought growing up was the most wondrous thing to accomplish, but now, more than
ever, we crave for our youth; for the days we would sit in the grass and daydream of what we are to
become when we grow up; and finally for the days when life was simple and we could imagine it
any which way we wanted it and no one could do a thing about it.

Personal Growth
Throughout my life and experiences at school we are always told to stand up and be a leader. I am
alway told that leaders volunteer, share their opinions, and get the job done. I have also been told
that when it comes to working in a group that does not participate, not to take complete control,
however that is easier said than done when in certain situations.
One of my biggest challenges throughout working in groups has been during my time in Faulkner
County YouthLeadership during Sophomore year. When I was assigned my group, we decided to
work on putting on the graduation ceremony at the end of the year. We were responsible for the
programs, gifts, requesting food, and meeting with the venue. However, the challenging part...show

Since our group only had three members that would participate, it was very hard to get things

do the best I could and I could rely on myself. When it came closer to graduation date, I realized I
really needed to have some of the members help out a little more. When we had meetings I would
ask if anyone could pick up the programs, or help with our proposal and I would get little to no
response. So I just decided to take on the tasks my group would not help me do. Naturally, I am an
introvert and before this experience I did not think I was very good at talking to people. After
having to talk to several people in charge of different aspects of our event, I found that it was not
as scary and hard as I thought, building my confidence. I want whatever I am working on to best
the best I can make it and that is why I am very thankful for that situation. It helped me discover
that when I need to, I can be a great leader that gets the job done even if I have to do it by myself
and that some people will not always help me. However, after this experience I know to try harder
to get the members of the group to help out. It also helped me realize that good leaders also have
to be the follower sometimes. I assessed my group situation and realized that I had to be the leader
this time, and maybe that is why some of the others took more of a quieter

Many people work very hard in their life but they do not seem to be able to achieve something
worthwhile (Personal Goal Setting, 2013). Successful people on the other hand, know what they
want and create plans to help them achieve these goals. They will establish a step by step plan, and
will continue to follow that plan until their goal is achieved. These people tend to be proactive
rather than be reactive. Personal planning is really important because it helps you not only to
achieve your goals but to tell you how you can achieve them. Without a personal plan, it will be hard

Or you may want to have a positive monthly cash flow of $500 dollars to be put in the savings
account, so then you will need to plan on how you should lower your expenses to reach the monthly
cash flow you want.
Goal setting is therefore really important in our everyday personal life. However in my case, I have
difficulty managing my time for schoolwork and personal finances.
For schoolwork, I always finish my schoolwork in the last minute or study right before quizzes or
tests. A reason for this may be due to I never planned a schedule for how and when will I study for
a test or for a project. I usually forget about having a test or is just lazy to start studying for it. This
is why when I start studying the night before the test or exam, I have a hard time trying to figure
what should I study first and what I should study last. Then, a lot of time is wasted on deciding how
I should start studying. I usually tend to wait for things such as exams and schoolwork to appear
before addressing them.
In order to be better at personal planning and become more successful, a specific strategy must be
implemented relating to goal–setting and time management. Studying for exams require a lot of
time and hard work to achieve good grades. The first task to do if you want to be successful at
school is to set a goal about getting good grades. Without this goal,

My Personal Goal As A Future Teacher
My personal goal as a future teacher is to encourage and challenge students as they develop their
learning skills. Teaching young intellects is a significant undertaking and cannot be taken
unconscientiously. It is filled with many frustrations, challenges and responsibilities. However, it
is a job that is very rewarding one that is filled with pleasure, admiration and excitement. Every
child is capable of learning and will do so in their distinct style. As a result, it is imperative to
learn each student 's learning style, likes, dislikes, hobbies and interests. Building relationships
with every student is important. By learning more about them individually I am able to provide
suitable opportunities for authentic learning experiences. I want to teach students in a
straightforward, direct interaction but also give students the room to grow and expand on their
own. At the beginning of the school year, it is understandable that I will lead class discussions,
but towards the end of the year, students will pose their own questions and will answer them
independently. I feel it is beneficial for students to some times work for the answer rather than
being told because it stretches their knowledge and teaches them how to find information in a
variety of ways. I also feel a key to success is for the class to work on projects to help others. As an
educator, it is important not only to help the students that you are teaching but also give them
direction to help others. I also

Personal Growth Essay

  • 1. Personal Growth Plan 4.The Importance of Personal Growth Plans Like professional athletes, effective leaders must continuously stretch and grow their leadership skills. In college ministry, personal development is not only about building strengths it is the commodity of the community. Despite living and working among educators and students for over twenty years, it still surprises me how much more engaging students, faculty, and administrators are since I began this program; clearly personal growth is the currency that moves the machine. Capacity for Leadership Recently, I had the privilege to hear Russell Maryland, former Dallas Cowboys star, speak to a group of students at Tarrant County College. Discussing the importance of continued personal growth, he...show more content... From the local ministry to a national conference, the core value is to engage people; students, volunteers, and staff; in relationships that stretch and prepare them for continued growth. Simply urging others to grow is insufficient, we must also furnish them with practical tools; resources, opportunities, and personal experience (Wilson, 2013). If we have embraced this culture of personal development, we already have the resources at our disposal; we need only make this list of books or podcasts available to others. While opportunities for personal growth will involve relevant retreats and conferences, but should also include mission trips and service projects that encourage them to live outside their comfort zone. Finally, personal experience entails both inviting the student to observe the leader as well as releasing responsibilities to the faithful and prepared student. Our investments to support the personal growth of students is one way we can communicate how much we value others, an essential responsibility of leadership (Eims, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Essay on Personality and Personal Growth Personality and Personal Growth "An integral being knows without going, sees without looking and accomplishes without doing" – Lao Tzu The text book definition of Personality is an individual's unique pattern of thoughts, feelings and behaviors that persist over time and across situations. I agree with this idea that a personality is what makes all of us who we are. I believe that a personality is a combination of innate characteristics that everyone is born with and the sum of total life experiences. I believe that a personality is a portrayal of an individual's reality. The way that an individual walks, talks, speaks and even the career path that they choose to go on is all a reflection of their personality. I believe that ...show more content... Like my niece teaching me to slow down and look at life more open minded and less judgmental, I also teach her about the responsibilities of life, I guess you could say that we teach each other to find a happy medium. My beliefs can be summarized as follows 1. You mustalways live your life to the fullest, 2. Make mistakes because that is the only way that you are going to learn, and grow 3. In order to find happiness one must first suffer to discover what is in front of them. These are only three that I found but in my opinion there are many more. I believe that an individual's growth is determined on the way that they choose to live their life. All beings are given a choice, a fork in the road to follow. Once you have chosen the road to take then the lessons that you come upon are the ones that you are meant to learn. My mom always says to me when I get frustrated that I made the choice to live the life that I am living. The problems that I encounter during this lifetime are the ones that I have to encounter in order to find true happiness. I was once told that when any person is about to come to earth they sign a contract stating that they have different lessons to learn in order to find true happiness, if they do not learn the lessons that they are meant to learn then the challenges to teach them will follow them through to the next lifetime Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. My Personal Growth And Development I am making the assessment upon my personal growth through the course of Personal Growth and Development. From the 40 Questions Assignment, I take 5 words that describe me are Integrity, Compassion, Fighter, Caring and Friend. I maintain integrity in any given situation as part of character. I also have compassion toward others, especially the ones who have less favorable conditions. When I fight, I do not stop neither I quit. I finish what I start. I care for many things maybe I a little more care than I should. And a good and loyal friend I am, that is maybe the reason I do not have a true friend toward myself. People tend to enjoy my friendship and forgotten about their role to function as a friend in return. And my personality says "I am a simple yet complex character, at first impression people may catch what they don't like about me until they care enough to know me more personally and they will find the true friend means." The list of my strengths as my valuable assets is I am multi–talented person and possess many skills up to the level of mastery. Most of the skills and qualities I have were attained in self–taught process. Some people said that I am close to genius but I look at myself more to diligent in study and attention to detail person. I tend to be too aggressive, although people may think differently because of my size. The two sides of my personality, caring but at the other time I can be so cold. The biggest conflict in my personality is the qualities I Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Personal Growth Through Learning Essay I've made it my passion to be a life–long learner to sharpen my skills, abilities and God–given talent. When an individual doesn't make a conscience effort to expand their minds, then they are actually making a decision to begin to digress. Being an older college student, my desire is to learn everything that I possibly can with the aid of Victory University. It was fascinating reading about Rene' Descartes who grew up in France. Descartes was also a life–long learner. He was the thinker and writer who coined the phrase, "I think, therefore I am" (Gluck, Mercado, & Myers, 2014, p. 7). Although Descartes existed during the time of the Renaissance, his theory that the eyes were significant to stimulating other parts of the body, such...show more content... Many individuals play themselves down because they are not fully aware of their capabilities. A focused and intentional person can accomplish a lot in a day if they put their minds to it. The strength of the mind with faith and belief plays a very crucial role in a successful person's life. Dr. David Schwartz in The Magic of Thinking Big states, "Believe, really believe, you can move a mountain, and you can" (Schwartz, 1959, p. 9). My heart's desire is to become a better student each year by applying the things that I learned previously. However, in order to do this, it is imperative that I create a plan in my schedule to focus on reading the material in advance prior to the instructor's lecture. By doing this, I'm able to grasp the material a little easier by already being informed of the terminology and phrases that are common to that particular class. I enjoy reading; however, sometime I can view it as a chore. Nonetheless, the most productive way for me to accomplish my reading schedule is to become desensitized to by reading and studying according to my schedule. Knowing that the more that I do something like this, then the more likely it will become habit. At that time, I will be doing it mostly without thinking much about it. I will be in a much better position to allow generalization to occur. By generalizing, I will transfer my past learning to new situations and problems (Gluck et al., 2014, p. 209). • 5. Personal Growth In Academic Environment Personal Growth in Academic Environments School is generally perceived as a strictly academic environment. Students think of this setting as a learning center for subjects like math, history, science and English. However, when taking a closer look, it is easy to see that school teaches students much more. School teaches students a multitude of life lessons, such as personal development. Often, school helps students grow personally, rather than academically. Students grow in many ways throughout their years of schooling, and they learn several qualities that help them mature. These qualities include respect, perseverance, and integrity. Students learn to persevere through difficult social situations and seemingly worthless curriculum. They demonstrate integrity through their academic honesty or lack thereof. Lastly, students learn to show respect for teachers, peers, and themselves, regardless of the circumstances. One quality many students develop in school is respect. Academic environments teach students to respect teachers, peers, and even themselves. Despite their cruel discrimination, Mark Cotharn respected his teachers. Unlike the teachers at my old school, the teachers at my new school did not give any special treatment for athletes. [...] I had gotten good grades up to this point, and I had no reason to think that the situation would change. Even so, my teachers' preconceived ideas upset me (Cotharn 295). Although his teachers did not treat him with respect, Cotharn Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. College Admissions Essay: My Personal Growth My personal growth is a significant aspect of who I am, moreover, this continues to be a trait I strive to develop. To understand how far I've come as a person, you need to see where I came from and what motivated me to change. Growing up, I hated father's Day. When the other kids snipped away to Hallmark history with neon safety scissors and half–dried glue sticks, I sat in indecision, unsure how to proceed. That's when Ms. Kats thoughtfully said I could make two cards, I was left reeling. In the eyes of an anxious five–year–old, her kind consideration felt like an accusation. Now, seventeen years and counting, I wouldn't change the cards I've been dealt. But, that isn't to deny that growing up in a same sex parent household was challenging. When inquisition became ignorance, and quiet looks became gawking stares – growing to...show more content... Looking back, I can call out my egregious perception of the past for what it is – a desperation for someone to blame. Some fall–guy for my childhood insecurities. It just so happened that I picked the empty role of Mother as a scapegoat. Now, as an advocator for equal rights and a member of the LGBTQ+ community myself, I realize that my insecurities were only a symptom of a societal condition. The real cause of my reluctance to accept my parents wasn't because my family dynamic was wrong (there's nothing, for me, that feels more right). The real cause is a lack of positive representation. When kids in my situation turn an eye outward, they rarely, if ever, find a familiar reflection staring back. I learned this – when I no longer looked to schoolyard prattle as fact, instead choosing Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Personal Statement On Personal Growth Essay Introduction I believe that the majority of personal growth comes from surrounding oneself with people who are different, so for my interview, I consulted my Hispanic male friend, Alberto. My reason for doing so was I expected his identity to contrast with my own of many different levels. I had high anticipation to the responses I would receive from him due to his different identity. In retrospect, I was surprised by my findings and how they related to my teachings and my personal perception. Race When I sat down with Alberto, I questioned him on the awareness of the role his race played in his life. His response was similar to my personal experiences in which he felt as though he didn 't encounter much racism on a social level. He elaborated by saying that he experienced notable racism only in the workforce. Alberto says that he never had much trouble locating a job because whenever people say his race that would offer him work based on the grounds that he was a "hard worker". When Alberto spoke of this I could hear the irritation in his voice. "People would often hire me because they said my race meant I was a hard worker, but truthfully I work as much as anyone else" (personal communication, July 21, 2016). When Alberto said this I immediately thought of the definition of a micro–aggressor. Alberto gave another example of a common microaggressor he encountered. Alberto goes to an HBCU and people often ask him "where are you from?", to which Alberto would reply with the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Personal Growth in College Essay So far, the college experience has made me a changed person. College changed me into a better person on many occasions. I have learned to be more responsible, when it comes down to getting work done. In college you must be responsible. I have also changed my attitude. Moving from high school to college is a big step; if you don't change your ways for the better then you might not be successful in college. When you reach college then is the time that you become an adult. First off, the college life has changed me for the better. I am much more responsible in many different ways. I had to change my study habits, or should I say I have to get study habits. I high school I never studied, because everything came so easy to me and I could just...show more content... That's just one example, there are many more. Another reason college is a big step is because you're on your own, and you don't have nobody to tell you what to do, you make your own decisions when it has to deal with getting up early in the morning to go to class, you have your parents or anyone to wake you up, it's a big step, you just have to stay focus. Third of all, you have to change your attitude toward school. You have to want to finish school; you have to think about the money you are spending to go to school. For example you are paying for every class you take and if you fail a class then you are paying for the same class again. College is a major step from high school. I personally wasn't ready for college, but this being my second year I understand what I have to do to finish school. I understand more and more why education is a major issue in life, especially a college education. Entering college you have to change your game plan to get where you want to be in life. In conclusion, the college experience has made me a changed person. It has made me a changed person for the better. I have learned a lot, I have learned responsibility. Without responsibility in college you will not make very far. You must get your work done, and be punctual. You must make the right decisions, don't let peer pressure get to you, try to avoid it. • 9. My Personal Goals Essay As a child and even as a teenager one tends to make dreams and set goals for life. On occasion these goals are far stretched and sometimes even fairy–tale like, we tend to see life through a rose–colored glass, not taking into account the many sidetracks life throws our way. At that stage in life our goals tend to be less focused and somewhat unreachable. However, the process of growing up, or maturing, tends organized and center our goals, we learn to make compromises and set goals for our goals. There are different types of goals, short term and long term. I have learned to separate the many goals I have into three main categories: family, professional and personal. I have planned monthly individual date nights with my children, so that they can have my undivided attention for a certain period of time. The second family short term goal takes into account my marriage. In order to raise happy and healthy children, a happy and healthy relationship with one's spouse is paramount. In order to achieve this goal my husband and I have decided to also dedicate more time for the two of us. For the next year we have made an agreement to take at least one vacation together, so that we may increase the bond that brought us together. We have also decided that for the next three year we will spend Holidays as a family so that we may create our own family traditions, we will do whatever is in our power to spend Holidays together, that includes not working or making other plans with the rest of our immediate families. On many occasions my personal goals have come before my professional aspirations. A career in the medical field has always been something I have looked forward to. As a child I wanted and dreamed of being a doctor, however due to the choices I made in life and the priorities that I had not thought of, I have come to realize that my childhood dream may not come true. Yet, I was able to compromise and make short and long term goals that will lead me into a career in the medical field. My long term goal is to enter the medical field world and be a respected contributor to it. I want to be able to help others in the time of need. In Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Personal Growth Analysis I experienced a great deal of personal growth over the weekend that I spent in Morgan Monroe. Firstly, I experienced a growth in my own inner confidence. Growing up, I was a shy child. I was very insecure with myself and that led to me being nervous and introverted around people, something I still sometimes struggle with. Over the years, it has gotten somewhat better. I've attended various leadership camps and took charge of many different events or clubs around my high school. However, none of them were able to push me out of my comfort zone quite like this class was. The class was full of unfamiliar people. I was, and am, still new to college, to Bloomington, and to Indiana. I was definitely not at easy during the first couple of classroom sessions. I was nervous going into the weekend because I only had one friend who I had known for all of a couple of weeks. ...show more content... I had done some long day hikes as well as other strenuous outdoor activates, but I had never done anything as physically taxing as backpacking. I definitely struggled the first day. The pack was a lot heavier then I had originally thought, especially when we began to walk uphill. When we had stopped for the night, I was certain that by Saturday night I would be so sore that I wouldn't be able to move. By the second morning I was certain that my fears had been confirmed–the pack was definitely causing some pain in my hips. However, once we really got started, I forgot all about the sore muscles and the bruises. The weather was much too nice to worry about anything. Every time I took the pack off I worried about the same thing, but every time I put it back on it felt lighter. My mind kept focusing on things other than the heavy pack. By the time we settled for the night, I knew that could survive backpacking. I probably couldn't go out for a week right now, but with a little practice and a little more time spent backpacking, I for sure could Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. A Journey of Personal Growth Becoming a college student has always seemed so far away; an eternity would pass before I grew up and became more mature. Yet here I am, a Running Start student who was given the opportunity to experience college at a younger age than is standard. Being able to start a little bit earlier has indeed been beneficial. At first, it was definitely intimidating, for it is such a different pace than what I have become used to; a slow paced kind of education. I have noticed that I am a fast learner, so taking my education slow was not really an option for me. That is why I took the challenge of more complex learning at a community college. After investing much time and effort, my writing skills have improved tremendously Coming fresh into college, there are a lot of basic classes that everyone needs to take. One of them is English 101, a class that is required for every degree that is offered here at Highline. I knew that it would not be easy, especially for me. I was never a good writer, for there was always something that I was struggling with, such as not going deep enough, or the writing being very bland. I put some of the blame on my past teachers;, their way of teaching how to be an effective writer was not effective. What they taught was very structured and did not leave much room for a student to grow. As we come to a closing in this English 101 course, I can confidently say that I am leaving with much more knowledge than when I first Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 14. Reflection On Personal Growth Personal Growth Reflection This course was enlightening, it helped me to open my eyes to new issues of concern in my community and our culture and it addressed large issues that specifically affected the quality of education starting with the quality of teachers. The class allowed me to step out of my comfort zone and to see things from other perspectives while challenging me to consider different concepts and new ways of thinking. I learned to look at things from the larger picture, both Macro and Micro levels of an issue and to consider all factors that influence or affects a situation or a person. After taking the class my perspective on many issues has changed due to the information that I was presented with that suggested that my view was incorrect and in a few cases biased. I am happy that I took this course and I found it to be very intriguing, it has pointed me in the right direction and brought me closer to becoming culturally competent. Early on in the course we were introduced to common myths, misconceptions, and stereotypes when it relates to one's race, ethnicity, or culture, more specifically those regarding Immigrants. The "Myths and facts about immigrants" assignment provided a lot of valuable information about misconceptions and racial prejudice that our culture has accepted as facts, which negatively affects individuals of the Latino community. After completing the assignment, I realized that this was a much larger issue than I had originally thought Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The purpose of this paper is to discuss what I feel are the most important concepts for me to carry forward and how I will utilize what I have learned to enhance both my personal and professional life and have success in both areas. • 18. Essay Growing Up When I Grow Up.. "Being 'grown up' isn't as fun as the idea of growing up." –AmberGrace Seguin Remember when we were young and all we could think of was growing up and getting to do 'grownup' things? We spent our whole childhood thinking of what we would do when we finally 'grew up', and here we are, almost completely grown up and we still haven't made up our mind of what it is we will do when we grow up. We've painted this pretty little picture in our head of what it'll be like when we eventually do grow up, and when it finally comes for the picture to be taken off the wall and put into action, it's not nearly as fun as creating the painting. "The day the child realizes that all adults are imperfect, he becomes an adolescent; the day he forgives them, he becomes an adult; the day he forgives himself, he becomes wise." –Alden Nowlan As we continue to grow up, we learn that being grown up is not as we imagined it. We once convinced ourselves that growing up was the goal to achieve, and life would be much better once we were in fact grown up. When we in fact do grow up, we think back at our youth and laugh because we thought growing up was the most wondrous thing to accomplish, but now, more than ever, we crave for our youth; for the days we would sit in the grass and daydream of what we are to become when we grow up; and finally for the days when life was simple and we could imagine it any which way we wanted it and no one could do a thing about it. • 19. Personal Growth Analysis Personal Growth Throughout my life and experiences at school we are always told to stand up and be a leader. I am alway told that leaders volunteer, share their opinions, and get the job done. I have also been told that when it comes to working in a group that does not participate, not to take complete control, however that is easier said than done when in certain situations. One of my biggest challenges throughout working in groups has been during my time in Faulkner County YouthLeadership during Sophomore year. When I was assigned my group, we decided to work on putting on the graduation ceremony at the end of the year. We were responsible for the programs, gifts, requesting food, and meeting with the venue. However, the challenging part...show more content... Since our group only had three members that would participate, it was very hard to get things done. At the time, I had just decided to take on a lot of the responsibility because I knew I would do the best I could and I could rely on myself. When it came closer to graduation date, I realized I really needed to have some of the members help out a little more. When we had meetings I would ask if anyone could pick up the programs, or help with our proposal and I would get little to no response. So I just decided to take on the tasks my group would not help me do. Naturally, I am an introvert and before this experience I did not think I was very good at talking to people. After having to talk to several people in charge of different aspects of our event, I found that it was not as scary and hard as I thought, building my confidence. I want whatever I am working on to best the best I can make it and that is why I am very thankful for that situation. It helped me discover that when I need to, I can be a great leader that gets the job done even if I have to do it by myself and that some people will not always help me. However, after this experience I know to try harder to get the members of the group to help out. It also helped me realize that good leaders also have to be the follower sometimes. I assessed my group situation and realized that I had to be the leader this time, and maybe that is why some of the others took more of a quieter Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. Personal Development Essay Many people work very hard in their life but they do not seem to be able to achieve something worthwhile (Personal Goal Setting, 2013). Successful people on the other hand, know what they want and create plans to help them achieve these goals. They will establish a step by step plan, and will continue to follow that plan until their goal is achieved. These people tend to be proactive rather than be reactive. Personal planning is really important because it helps you not only to achieve your goals but to tell you how you can achieve them. Without a personal plan, it will be hard to attain any objectives you want to complete. Whether it is a short–term goal or a long–term goal, there must be a strategy on how to reach it. Having goals at...show more content... Or you may want to have a positive monthly cash flow of $500 dollars to be put in the savings account, so then you will need to plan on how you should lower your expenses to reach the monthly cash flow you want. Goal setting is therefore really important in our everyday personal life. However in my case, I have difficulty managing my time for schoolwork and personal finances. For schoolwork, I always finish my schoolwork in the last minute or study right before quizzes or tests. A reason for this may be due to I never planned a schedule for how and when will I study for a test or for a project. I usually forget about having a test or is just lazy to start studying for it. This is why when I start studying the night before the test or exam, I have a hard time trying to figure what should I study first and what I should study last. Then, a lot of time is wasted on deciding how I should start studying. I usually tend to wait for things such as exams and schoolwork to appear before addressing them. In order to be better at personal planning and become more successful, a specific strategy must be implemented relating to goal–setting and time management. Studying for exams require a lot of time and hard work to achieve good grades. The first task to do if you want to be successful at school is to set a goal about getting good grades. Without this goal, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 21. My Personal Goal As A Future Teacher My personal goal as a future teacher is to encourage and challenge students as they develop their learning skills. Teaching young intellects is a significant undertaking and cannot be taken unconscientiously. It is filled with many frustrations, challenges and responsibilities. However, it is a job that is very rewarding one that is filled with pleasure, admiration and excitement. Every child is capable of learning and will do so in their distinct style. As a result, it is imperative to learn each student 's learning style, likes, dislikes, hobbies and interests. Building relationships with every student is important. By learning more about them individually I am able to provide suitable opportunities for authentic learning experiences. I want to teach students in a straightforward, direct interaction but also give students the room to grow and expand on their own. At the beginning of the school year, it is understandable that I will lead class discussions, but towards the end of the year, students will pose their own questions and will answer them independently. I feel it is beneficial for students to some times work for the answer rather than being told because it stretches their knowledge and teaches them how to find information in a variety of ways. I also feel a key to success is for the class to work on projects to help others. As an educator, it is important not only to help the students that you are teaching but also give them direction to help others. I also Get more content on HelpWriting.net
