My Writing Experience Essay
Overall, I enjoy writing. Preferably, I find comfort in writing without expectation or criticisms. I
am familiar with the areas of my writing that need improvement, but my apprehensions stem from
lack of time, discipline, and focus. It is undeniable that I enjoy writing as a free form of
expression to keep secrets or share, it is a leisure for me. So, I will not take the time necessary to
hone my skill set any further than what required of me during my academic career. When it comes
to discipline and focus I find myself passionately articulating and editing my thoughts when I have
an interest in what I am writing. Yet, when the subject matter is not captivating I do not put in
nearly as much effort as I would if my heart was in it. Writing

Reflective Essay: Free Rewriting
Freewriting
Freewriting is something I never do, I was always afraid of it. This was because English classes,
have never been easy for me. So when we first started class this semester, and Mr. Knox asked us to
free write for a few minutes, I was sure it was not going to go well. But he asked us to do one thing I
had never done, just keep writing, and don't stop, even if it's off subject keep the ideas flowing.
Normally I would start out by staring at the paper for most of the assignment time then in the last bit
of time write down a couple of thoughts, but this time his advice it really worked. Whenever I felt
stuck, I just wrote about feeling stuck then all of a sudden a new idea on the right subject would
pop in my head and id be back on

How Education Has Changed My Life Essay
These past four years have really been a life changing experience. From a childish freshmen not
only at school but at home too, to a still sometimes childish senior, one who knows when and how
to control himself. This school and its teachers have taught me so many lessons that will not be
forgotten any time soon. You can probably imagine how nervous and maybe even a little timorous
I was, my first day at Barstow High. It was not very simple to get accustomed to, coming from
Hinkley School, which contained approximately four hundred and fifty students at most, to a big
crowded hall ways of Barstow. I still remember how nervous I was that first day; my upper lip was
shaking as I asked a hall monitor where the five hundred row was located....show more content...
He first started with a lecture followed by a worksheet or two. For the visual learners after the
worksheets he would show short videos about that same subject. Most of those videos were
documentaries which were interesting if you paid attention. Another class that I enjoyed was
English 2 taught by Mrs. Smith. Yea some people think she is though on her students, that's
because she is but I think that it has a purpose. She gives some challenging assignment that
nobody wants to do but somehow she motivates us to complete them. I remember two projects
that were fun and effective, not only as school work but to help sharpen our people skills. One of
those projects was to write a children's story book based on an activist from the civil rights
movement. Once we completed our book we took part in a field trip to two elementary schools
here in Barstow, once there we assigned to a five person groups and we also received a list with
the room numbers that we were to visit. We read our books to first as well as to second graders.
After we I finished I had some of the children write their named on the back of my book. The
second project we were assigned that year and that I enjoyed was to research two authors from the
1800s or so, in collaboration with a partner that we got assigned to. For the first author we had the
option to either create a power point presentation or create our own website about that particular
author. My partner and I choose to build our

Best Ways To Study Essay
Three Best Ways to Study For many students studying for an exam or a test can be very stressful.
For a lot of them studying is very hard because sometimes most of the materials they study, they
don't remember on the actual test or exam. However there are more than one way to study and
most theses studying methods can be very helpful and very reliable. A Lot of students tend to cram
all the studying two or the night before the test and according to UCLA professor of psychiatry
Andrew J. Fuligni (2012) cramming and trying to get as much information in your head two or a
night before the test is very counterproductive. How to study properly Although there are many ways
and methods of studying whether it be scientific or a family belief ,...show more content...
A second method of studying is by studying in an appropriate setting (Chadron State College).
Studying in an environment where distraction is very easy to find is very difficult. Studying in a
quiet setting with a lot of space away from distraction can help you study and can help memory
performance. With this setting it's also helpful to be consistent with the studying, studying at the
same time and same place is very effective especially when this is done 2 –3 weeks prior to the test
quiz or exam. With the proper setting, proper setting is also necessary. " Your study desk or table
should be equipped with all the materials you might need to complete the assignment, e.g., pencils,
pens, erasers, paper clips, stapler, dictionary, snacks, and liquid refreshments, etc." – Chadron State
College. Adding items that can help you study and removing things that might distract is also need
for effective studying. The third and final method of studying that is effective is studying while
listening to music. According to Goodwin (2015), studying with music before a test can improve
attention and can help lessen depression and anxiety. The "Mozart effect" is known to be helpful
but of course today the effects will be very different since students don't tend to listen to Mozart.
The type of music played also plays a pig role of studying. Studying with music that has lyrics is not

What Is Writing Like Me
Writing. Writing is a no. I do not like writing. It does not like me. I have very little good
experiences with it. Maybe even none. The only good writing I can do is outside of school. When
I attempt it in school, I forget words, how to spell them, and how to phrase them. Its like being in
Kindergarten again. I have no motivation to start if I can even find an idea. Me and writing are like
Zordon and the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Thinking about it there's probably a better
analogy out there like, I don't know, Batman and Joker if you wanna be boring. Or I could bring up
something insensitive 'cause bringing up my writing can lead to great offense. Don't talk about it. If
I wanted to bring up any experience I've had with writing, they would

My Free Rewriting Process
Freewriting has been a strategy for me in previous classes as well as on my own. When I start to
write a paper or an essay, I like to write down everything I know about the subject first, my own
thoughts and information I have stored away. In order to choose certain ideas, I compare what I
have already learned about the subject versus information I conduct research on. I tend to brainstorm
as well and pick out the major ideas to the subject I'm writing about, so the reader can understand my
concept. However, throughout the freewriting process, I've already set in my mind how I will write
my paper or

Pros And Cons Of Rewriting A Memory
The Pros of Rewriting a Memory
Nearly everyone possesses a memory that they wish they could change, whether they make the
wrong decision, or just commit some embarrassing action. Although these memories typically hold
little significance on daily life, severe emotional recollections truly shape one's life, and impact those
around he/she. To rewrite amemory, one can either remove painful emotions, or increase the amount
of emotions, depending on which option creates a bigger and more beneficial effect. In "The Glass
House," "Partial Recall," and The Things They Carried, Chris Adrian, Michael Specter, and Tim
O'Brien argue that rewriting a memory improves the recollection and creates a more impactful
memory.
Chris Adrian in "The Glass House"...show more content...
In "The Glass House," Adrian uses Frenchy's photographs to illustrate how rewriting the deaths of
the soldiers improves their legacy. Through his pictures, Frenchy allows for the soldiers to receive
the recognition and appreciation that they deserve. Similarly, in "Partial Recall," Specter utilizes
both Schiller's and Foa's research to display how removing painful feelings from a memory can help
the person cope with their traumatic experience; this benefits the person's life, and gives he/she the
capability to recall that event without the paralyzing fear the comes with it. Likewise, O'Brien shows
how rewriting the truth in his memories increases their effect, creating a more intense and emotional
memory. He structures his whole novel around telling rewritten memories that better represent the
emotions of the war. All three texts demonstrate how a rewritten memory creates an improved
recollection that holds a more significant

How I Have Improved On My Writing Essay
1)I have improved in numerous ways during this semester in Composition 1. I have enhanced my
writing skills such as being able to write proficiently, and being able to form an essay in a set
amount a time similar to the 50 minute essay tests in class. This course has taught me to broaden my
vocabulary throughout my essays in order for them stimulating and captivating. While writing
essays and creating the works cited pages, I have learned to accurately cite websites, books, and
articles. I have also learned to suitably place and refer to where I found the material used for the
essays within, and at the beginning of, paragraphs. When writing my essays I have learned to
transition smoothly, however, I still struggle with it every once in a while, the writing I do
continues to enhance. My speech has also improved from standing in front of the class and
presenting a group project along with fellow classmates. I now know what it is like and what to
expect the next time I do it. I have improved in many ways during this course and I feel, overall, the
portfolio represents my progress greatly.
2)I chose to present my self–evaluation in this manner because I am going to major in photography
and I am currently in Art Foundations. I thought it would be appropriate that I connect my passions
in a creative way. I chose the spiral sketch book because we are using this type of sketch book in
my Art Foundations course. I also believe that the spiral sketch book is easily maneuverable and

Writing Vs Rewriting
Have you ever read a book and felt the plot was all over the place, or the characters were
inconsistent? Maybe the climax wasn't strong enough or the story was missing that obvious inciting
incident. Hell, have you ever started a book and just didn't like it?
We all love the idea that our first version is the best version–hey, it's straight from the heart and on to
the page, what's better than that?
The answer: Your next draft.
And then the one after that, and the one after that.
Writing is grueling, and that's because such a large part of writing is the rewriting. Revising makes
the story stronger, better. It's filling in the gaps you didn't realize were missing at first. It's making
sure your characters have grown, that the sub plot contributes...show more content...
This is why. A developmental editor immerses themself in your story. They soak it in; let it
consume them for the days/weeks/months that they work on it. They are as close as they can be
with your story without actually being the one who created and wrote it. When I edit or critique
a manuscript, I usually gather all my thoughts and notes, type them up as if they are ready to send
and then wait a couple days before sending off. Just because I "finished" doesn't mean my work is
done, and it definitely does not mean I've stopped thinking about it. Even doing this and being
certain I've said all I can, I still find myself emailing a client a few days later with another idea that
came to mind. Or a client may have additional questions later and want to bounce ideas around.
Being immersed in the story means an editor is invested, and don't you want to know your editor is
invested in your story as much as you are?
A developmental editor understands your vision.
This is your story, your book, your writing. The right editor knows this and does not try to change
this. They understand what you are hoping to accomplish (and if they don't, tell them) and they will
help you accomplish that. Do you have a specific theme to your story? An editor will help you stick
to it. Is your intended audience single parents, young adults, or realists? An editor will make sure
your story captures the audience you want. The same goes for genre. An editor

My Journey : My Educational Journey
My Journey I began my journey of writing on May 7, 2017 when I began taking English 1301 at
Texas State Technical College. When entering the course, I did not feel that the course was relevant
to complete my educational journey. Writing was not one of my strongest points, so this journey
was a difficult one. During the course I learned how to better prepare myself for writing and
composing assignments, how to construct an outline, proper sentence structure, and punctuation. I
feel this journey will better prepare me for continuing my education and help me to communicate
better as a professional. The first essay I wrote was a composing process essay. In this essay, I had to
write an essay about my personal writing preferences and the...show more content...
This essay taught me that I needed the composition course to help better prepare me for future
college writing. I realized that I was not prepared. After completing this essay, I was not sure I
could be a successful writer. The third essay that was written was a critical argument. This
assignment required me to choose two articles from the school library and write an essay stating
my opinion on a particular subject. The topic I chose was medical marijuana. This topic was
interesting to me, so it made the assignment fun. On this essay I had fewer mistakes than in
previous essays. I continued to struggle with APA citation and the use of commas. When I
looked at the feedback from this essay, it gave me confidence. I felt that I was learning and my
writing skills were improving. During the last month of the course, I was given the opportunity
to go back over my essays and revise them. I was also asked to make a digital portfolio to display
my final drafts. After careful review of the essays and feedback from my instructor, I chose to
rewrite the essays. I knew that my entire class could see the work I had done, once the essays
were posted into my portfolio. This pushed me to rewrite my essays to the best of my ability.
When I completed the essays, I felt good about the work that I had done and I was more confident
about my writing ability. I then began to work on my portfolio that would display my journey through

The Benefits Of Free Rewriting
Emily this is a genius comment. That moment when you mentioned freewriting as a way of
releasing stress made me realize something. While freewriting is a great brainstorming technique
we could also try and see it in a different light. How about freewriting as a hobby? Think about it,
you are bored you type out whatever comes into mind. You express yourself and everything through
freewriting. It could be a very useful tool releasing us from our stress as well as adding value to our
writing skills. The more we are able to express urselves, we grow and our writings becomes solid. I
have a new way and a new reason to use freewriting. I would use it as a hobbie as and when i

The Importance Of Rewriting
Thank you, but I do not think that will do much help because I obviously do not know APA like I
thought I did. Rewriting week one paper, writing week four, and doing the extra credit is a lot to
have turned in in one week, not to mention the week 3 paper I turned in will probably be wrong like
the week one paper. So, if I already have one offense that you reported week 3 would make two, and
I cannot risk getting kicked out of Bethel for something that needs to be re taught to me all over
again. I talked to my advisor today and I decided it will be best for me to drop the class and get the

Winger moving on I finally started talking again. I still don't say much, but I can talk now. But it
will never be like before. Every time I open my mouth, I can see Joey: alone in the woods and
screaming for help. He didn't deserve to die. Joey was my best friend. He always will be. But life
moves on. So, I started talking again. Only to Annie at first, but I moved forward. Now, I can talk
to my friends again, just not without picturing Joey. I still have Annie with me. Doc Mom too.
They help me survive. They help keep the dark thoughts in my head at bay. But sometimes, even
they can do nothing but watch. When I feel like nothing in the world is worth living for, I sit
down and write. Just write. All my thoughts come out as words on the page. After all, there is a
certain soothing calm to writing. I can write what I never had the guts to say. I can write about
Joey, my best friend. I can write about all the things we did, but never without remembering how
he died. I used to want to change. I wanted to make something out of my life. And now, things
have changed. But, now I know that change is not always good. Because now, I've lost my best
friend. Things have changed, but not for the better. My world will never be the same again. Joey's
gone. I still can't get over it. I don't think I will ever be able to. Every time I look at Pine Mountain

Romeo And Juliet Rewrite
The Rewrite This week was starting off great. I barely had any homework at all. This changed on
Wednesday when I walked into english and sat down. I love english class, so I didn't really mind
my teacher, Ms. Barber, giving us a project to do. We had recently finished Romeo and Juliet, and
have spent a day talking about it. When the sheet came around with our options on what we could
do, I read through it. I found what I wanted to do, a complete scene rewrite however we wanted.
When I went home that day, I had no clue how I wanted to rewrite the scene's dialogue. I sat at
home, just trying to figure out what I would want to do for the rewrite. My thoughts were spinning
around in my head. I shot down my ideas faster than I was making new ones. Suddenly the
whirlwind stopped. I heard someone downstairs. It wasn't a real person talking, it came from our
TV. It didn't matter to me that he was talking. It mattered to me how he was talking. One or all my
family members was watching a...show more content...
Barber, who laughed so hard that she nearly cried. I wrote like a champ that night, fueled by the fact
that this project will be the best one I have ever done. This rewrite would be something that I could
be proud of. I don't like presenting in front of people, but if I know what I wrote, as well as the
quality of what I wrote, I would be a lot less nervous. This being said, I remember a time when I was
partnered up with someone a few years ago. We were assigned to do a project in a science class.
That person and I made a fun little newscast on the weather. That was when I discovered that I
would be fine in front of people if I was in a video. This led to me offering to help people who were
making videos on a scene. I ended up making an appearance in most, if not all, of their videos. I was
in a few fights for them, as well as playing romeo in one of them. One of those days I had two or
three different changes of clothes on me, one for each video. I loved

Summary Of Joseph Harris's Revising
In Joseph Harris's chapter "Revising" which was originally published in his book, Rewriting: How
to Do Things with Texts in 2006, Harris emphasizes the importance of the revising process, how to
revise and improve effectively, and informs us about the fact that revising is overlooked and rushed
by writers today. He shares tips on how to effectively revise and demonstrates using excerpts within
his chapters.
Harris argues that revision is overlooked and undervalued because, as readers, we see texts in their
final form and do not see the "hesitations, repetition, digressions...and flat–out mistakes of earlier
drafts" (442). He then supports this idea when he demonstrates in a draft, by a student named Abhijit
Mehta, the difference between editing and revising. He comments, "at the mundane level, he...show

He also states that it is important to track the revision changes made throughout the evolution of the
draft. The act of tracking can show how much you have changed due to revision and can give you a
clearer view of how the thought process changed (445–447, 457). Harris's purpose through making
these arguments about the lack of proper revision and giving advice on how to revise at a mature
level are to help writers rewrite instead of merely editing and making small, localized changes.
According to Harris, many writers mistake editing for revising and fix small mistakes which is
actually the process of editing. He also emphasizes the fact that revising takes time and a writer
will never have their work ready in one draft; it will take many drafts which will be revised for
clarity and cohesion. The draft itself could evolve into something different than was originally
planned and writers should know, that is

Reflection On My English 101 Experience
Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your
mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and done. However, you rarely get successful. The
truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in
the middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can
explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my essay, and identify my weaknesses.
Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before
taking this class, I use to always skip the pre–writing step considering that it is just an easy and
unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing, and most importantly I
struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to
the deadline that I do not have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class
that learned that pre–writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it holds the base of the
whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for
navigation to explain the importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I
have learned outlining before, but part of the pre–writing that I was fortunate enough to learning in
English 101 is the writing triangle. Even before outlining, the topic, purpose, and audience of the

Reflection Of My Life Essay
One's dream and aspirations to supersede in life must be stronger and greater than limitations set
forth by others. The experience that were bestowed to me during my short life has elevated me to
the woman I am today. Please walk with me as I give you the opportunity to see the world from my
eyes:
To be the person that I am now, I had to reflect and accept accountability of my past actions. My
past is one that many would love to erase from their memory, a past, which remained dormant,
until I found myself. The steps involved in regaining myself encompassed letting go of my anger
and self pity. I had to look within myself and see my self's worth, which lead to my belief that I ran

Put education first and everything else will fall into place." I didn't realize how true these words
were, until I came face to face with my past.
My last year in college, changed the whole course of my life. Near the end of my junior year, I
befriended a guy, who never would become my boyfriend. I knew he was infatuated with me, so I
lead him on. He ended up stalking me and making several death threats. I never understood the
phrase "in fear of your life", until then. Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) got involved but there
wasn't much they could do except file a police report and wait. This was a very frightening time
in my life and consequently I became very disconnected with life. I never provided TPD with my
stalker's name, in fear that he would kill me if I did. I moved to a different apartment complex
across town, thinking that it would make all my problems go away. He ended up finding me and
making more serious death threats against me and my family if I didn't leave Tallahassee.
I had a mental breakdown after the last death threat and I left Florida State University my senior year,
I went back home to deal with my traumatic ordeal. I quickly transferred to Florida International
University and graduated the following year with my graduating class at Florida State. Graduation
day should have been one of the happiest days of my life, but instead I was terrified

Rewriting American History Summary
In "Rewriting American History," Frances FitzGerald claims that "each generation of children reads
only one generation of schoolbooks," and those children only have a particular version of America
based on the textbook they read in schools. FitzGerald is correct in her claim that children read only
one generation of schoolbooks; however, children do not get a particular version of American history
based on their schools' textbooks. Students should realize that American history is constantly
changing, and they cannot only depend on historians' opinions on historical events. Instead, they
should be open–minded to multiple perspectives of history and understand why people interpret it
differently. FitzGerald supports her claim of how textbooks evolve over time by contrasting
textbooks from the fifties to modern–day. According to FitzGerald, people in the fifties had the
belief that "America was perfect: the greatest nation in the world," (778) and they...show more

She presumes that children only rely on textbooks to learn about history, and this is not true. Today,
kids learn about historical events through multiple media channels such as movies, articles, and
books. Because of this, they are exposed to multiple perspectives and how historians interpret each
event. When students study different perspectives, they become more open–minded and understand
why each generation has different beliefs based on historical events. Although FitzGerald claims
that history texts now are blunt about events and can be unpleasant, children exposed to those harsh
details apply their common knowledge based on perspectives of why those events occurred and
have a better understanding of history. (778) Therefore, it is false that children only have one
specific version of America; instead, they are exposed to different perspectives, and that can help
them grow into open–minded, mature

New Evidence Of Rewriting History
YES. History is constantly changing because new evidence is always being discovered. Ryan
Malone stated in his article," Rewriting history is admirable when it is done in search of greater
historical accuracy in light of new evidence, new facts, or facts that had been ignored because they
disagreed with social and cultural interpretations of years past." Old historians are known for not
telling the full truth and sugar coating the real story. Today, most historians are more focused on
telling the truth, good or bad. Since history teachers are changing the way they teach it is acceptable
to rewrite history. Real world events and the topic of rewriting history are surprising very similar.

Rewrite My Essay

  • 1. My Writing Experience Essay Overall, I enjoy writing. Preferably, I find comfort in writing without expectation or criticisms. I am familiar with the areas of my writing that need improvement, but my apprehensions stem from lack of time, discipline, and focus. It is undeniable that I enjoy writing as a free form of expression to keep secrets or share, it is a leisure for me. So, I will not take the time necessary to hone my skill set any further than what required of me during my academic career. When it comes to discipline and focus I find myself passionately articulating and editing my thoughts when I have an interest in what I am writing. Yet, when the subject matter is not captivating I do not put in nearly as much effort as I would if my heart was in it. Writing Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Reflective Essay: Free Rewriting Freewriting Freewriting is something I never do, I was always afraid of it. This was because English classes, have never been easy for me. So when we first started class this semester, and Mr. Knox asked us to free write for a few minutes, I was sure it was not going to go well. But he asked us to do one thing I had never done, just keep writing, and don't stop, even if it's off subject keep the ideas flowing. Normally I would start out by staring at the paper for most of the assignment time then in the last bit of time write down a couple of thoughts, but this time his advice it really worked. Whenever I felt stuck, I just wrote about feeling stuck then all of a sudden a new idea on the right subject would pop in my head and id be back on Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. How Education Has Changed My Life Essay These past four years have really been a life changing experience. From a childish freshmen not only at school but at home too, to a still sometimes childish senior, one who knows when and how to control himself. This school and its teachers have taught me so many lessons that will not be forgotten any time soon. You can probably imagine how nervous and maybe even a little timorous I was, my first day at Barstow High. It was not very simple to get accustomed to, coming from Hinkley School, which contained approximately four hundred and fifty students at most, to a big crowded hall ways of Barstow. I still remember how nervous I was that first day; my upper lip was shaking as I asked a hall monitor where the five hundred row was located....show more content... He first started with a lecture followed by a worksheet or two. For the visual learners after the worksheets he would show short videos about that same subject. Most of those videos were documentaries which were interesting if you paid attention. Another class that I enjoyed was English 2 taught by Mrs. Smith. Yea some people think she is though on her students, that's because she is but I think that it has a purpose. She gives some challenging assignment that nobody wants to do but somehow she motivates us to complete them. I remember two projects that were fun and effective, not only as school work but to help sharpen our people skills. One of those projects was to write a children's story book based on an activist from the civil rights movement. Once we completed our book we took part in a field trip to two elementary schools here in Barstow, once there we assigned to a five person groups and we also received a list with the room numbers that we were to visit. We read our books to first as well as to second graders. After we I finished I had some of the children write their named on the back of my book. The second project we were assigned that year and that I enjoyed was to research two authors from the 1800s or so, in collaboration with a partner that we got assigned to. For the first author we had the option to either create a power point presentation or create our own website about that particular author. My partner and I choose to build our Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Best Ways To Study Essay Three Best Ways to Study For many students studying for an exam or a test can be very stressful. For a lot of them studying is very hard because sometimes most of the materials they study, they don't remember on the actual test or exam. However there are more than one way to study and most theses studying methods can be very helpful and very reliable. A Lot of students tend to cram all the studying two or the night before the test and according to UCLA professor of psychiatry Andrew J. Fuligni (2012) cramming and trying to get as much information in your head two or a night before the test is very counterproductive. How to study properly Although there are many ways and methods of studying whether it be scientific or a family belief ,...show more content... A second method of studying is by studying in an appropriate setting (Chadron State College). Studying in an environment where distraction is very easy to find is very difficult. Studying in a quiet setting with a lot of space away from distraction can help you study and can help memory performance. With this setting it's also helpful to be consistent with the studying, studying at the same time and same place is very effective especially when this is done 2 –3 weeks prior to the test quiz or exam. With the proper setting, proper setting is also necessary. " Your study desk or table should be equipped with all the materials you might need to complete the assignment, e.g., pencils, pens, erasers, paper clips, stapler, dictionary, snacks, and liquid refreshments, etc." – Chadron State College. Adding items that can help you study and removing things that might distract is also need for effective studying. The third and final method of studying that is effective is studying while listening to music. According to Goodwin (2015), studying with music before a test can improve attention and can help lessen depression and anxiety. The "Mozart effect" is known to be helpful but of course today the effects will be very different since students don't tend to listen to Mozart. The type of music played also plays a pig role of studying. Studying with music that has lyrics is not recommended Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. What Is Writing Like Me Writing. Writing is a no. I do not like writing. It does not like me. I have very little good experiences with it. Maybe even none. The only good writing I can do is outside of school. When I attempt it in school, I forget words, how to spell them, and how to phrase them. Its like being in Kindergarten again. I have no motivation to start if I can even find an idea. Me and writing are like Zordon and the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Thinking about it there's probably a better analogy out there like, I don't know, Batman and Joker if you wanna be boring. Or I could bring up something insensitive 'cause bringing up my writing can lead to great offense. Don't talk about it. If I wanted to bring up any experience I've had with writing, they would Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. My Free Rewriting Process Freewriting has been a strategy for me in previous classes as well as on my own. When I start to write a paper or an essay, I like to write down everything I know about the subject first, my own thoughts and information I have stored away. In order to choose certain ideas, I compare what I have already learned about the subject versus information I conduct research on. I tend to brainstorm as well and pick out the major ideas to the subject I'm writing about, so the reader can understand my concept. However, throughout the freewriting process, I've already set in my mind how I will write my paper or Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Pros And Cons Of Rewriting A Memory The Pros of Rewriting a Memory Nearly everyone possesses a memory that they wish they could change, whether they make the wrong decision, or just commit some embarrassing action. Although these memories typically hold little significance on daily life, severe emotional recollections truly shape one's life, and impact those around he/she. To rewrite amemory, one can either remove painful emotions, or increase the amount of emotions, depending on which option creates a bigger and more beneficial effect. In "The Glass House," "Partial Recall," and The Things They Carried, Chris Adrian, Michael Specter, and Tim O'Brien argue that rewriting a memory improves the recollection and creates a more impactful memory. Chris Adrian in "The Glass House"...show more content... In "The Glass House," Adrian uses Frenchy's photographs to illustrate how rewriting the deaths of the soldiers improves their legacy. Through his pictures, Frenchy allows for the soldiers to receive the recognition and appreciation that they deserve. Similarly, in "Partial Recall," Specter utilizes both Schiller's and Foa's research to display how removing painful feelings from a memory can help the person cope with their traumatic experience; this benefits the person's life, and gives he/she the capability to recall that event without the paralyzing fear the comes with it. Likewise, O'Brien shows how rewriting the truth in his memories increases their effect, creating a more intense and emotional memory. He structures his whole novel around telling rewritten memories that better represent the emotions of the war. All three texts demonstrate how a rewritten memory creates an improved recollection that holds a more significant Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. How I Have Improved On My Writing Essay 1)I have improved in numerous ways during this semester in Composition 1. I have enhanced my writing skills such as being able to write proficiently, and being able to form an essay in a set amount a time similar to the 50 minute essay tests in class. This course has taught me to broaden my vocabulary throughout my essays in order for them stimulating and captivating. While writing essays and creating the works cited pages, I have learned to accurately cite websites, books, and articles. I have also learned to suitably place and refer to where I found the material used for the essays within, and at the beginning of, paragraphs. When writing my essays I have learned to transition smoothly, however, I still struggle with it every once in a while, the writing I do continues to enhance. My speech has also improved from standing in front of the class and presenting a group project along with fellow classmates. I now know what it is like and what to expect the next time I do it. I have improved in many ways during this course and I feel, overall, the portfolio represents my progress greatly. 2)I chose to present my self–evaluation in this manner because I am going to major in photography and I am currently in Art Foundations. I thought it would be appropriate that I connect my passions in a creative way. I chose the spiral sketch book because we are using this type of sketch book in my Art Foundations course. I also believe that the spiral sketch book is easily maneuverable and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Writing Vs Rewriting Have you ever read a book and felt the plot was all over the place, or the characters were inconsistent? Maybe the climax wasn't strong enough or the story was missing that obvious inciting incident. Hell, have you ever started a book and just didn't like it? We all love the idea that our first version is the best version–hey, it's straight from the heart and on to the page, what's better than that? The answer: Your next draft. And then the one after that, and the one after that. Writing is grueling, and that's because such a large part of writing is the rewriting. Revising makes the story stronger, better. It's filling in the gaps you didn't realize were missing at first. It's making sure your characters have grown, that the sub plot contributes...show more content... This is why. A developmental editor immerses themself in your story. They soak it in; let it consume them for the days/weeks/months that they work on it. They are as close as they can be with your story without actually being the one who created and wrote it. When I edit or critique a manuscript, I usually gather all my thoughts and notes, type them up as if they are ready to send and then wait a couple days before sending off. Just because I "finished" doesn't mean my work is done, and it definitely does not mean I've stopped thinking about it. Even doing this and being certain I've said all I can, I still find myself emailing a client a few days later with another idea that came to mind. Or a client may have additional questions later and want to bounce ideas around. Being immersed in the story means an editor is invested, and don't you want to know your editor is invested in your story as much as you are? A developmental editor understands your vision. This is your story, your book, your writing. The right editor knows this and does not try to change this. They understand what you are hoping to accomplish (and if they don't, tell them) and they will help you accomplish that. Do you have a specific theme to your story? An editor will help you stick to it. Is your intended audience single parents, young adults, or realists? An editor will make sure your story captures the audience you want. The same goes for genre. • 10. My Journey : My Educational Journey My Journey I began my journey of writing on May 7, 2017 when I began taking English 1301 at Texas State Technical College. When entering the course, I did not feel that the course was relevant to complete my educational journey. Writing was not one of my strongest points, so this journey was a difficult one. During the course I learned how to better prepare myself for writing and composing assignments, how to construct an outline, proper sentence structure, and punctuation. I feel this journey will better prepare me for continuing my education and help me to communicate better as a professional. The first essay I wrote was a composing process essay. In this essay, I had to write an essay about my personal writing preferences and the...show more content... This essay taught me that I needed the composition course to help better prepare me for future college writing. I realized that I was not prepared. After completing this essay, I was not sure I could be a successful writer. The third essay that was written was a critical argument. This assignment required me to choose two articles from the school library and write an essay stating my opinion on a particular subject. The topic I chose was medical marijuana. This topic was interesting to me, so it made the assignment fun. On this essay I had fewer mistakes than in previous essays. I continued to struggle with APA citation and the use of commas. When I looked at the feedback from this essay, it gave me confidence. I felt that I was learning and my writing skills were improving. During the last month of the course, I was given the opportunity to go back over my essays and revise them. I was also asked to make a digital portfolio to display my final drafts. After careful review of the essays and feedback from my instructor, I chose to rewrite the essays. I knew that my entire class could see the work I had done, once the essays were posted into my portfolio. This pushed me to rewrite my essays to the best of my ability. When I completed the essays, I felt good about the work that I had done and I was more confident about my writing ability. I then began to work on my portfolio that would display my journey through Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. The Benefits Of Free Rewriting Emily this is a genius comment. That moment when you mentioned freewriting as a way of releasing stress made me realize something. While freewriting is a great brainstorming technique we could also try and see it in a different light. How about freewriting as a hobby? Think about it, you are bored you type out whatever comes into mind. You express yourself and everything through freewriting. It could be a very useful tool releasing us from our stress as well as adding value to our writing skills. The more we are able to express urselves, we grow and our writings becomes solid. • 12. The Importance Of Rewriting Thank you, but I do not think that will do much help because I obviously do not know APA like I thought I did. Rewriting week one paper, writing week four, and doing the extra credit is a lot to have turned in in one week, not to mention the week 3 paper I turned in will probably be wrong like the week one paper. So, if I already have one offense that you reported week 3 would make two, and I cannot risk getting kicked out of Bethel for something that needs to be re taught to me all over again. I still don't say much, but I can talk now. But it will never be like before. Every time I open my mouth, I can see Joey: alone in the woods and screaming for help. He didn't deserve to die. Joey was my best friend. He always will be. But life moves on. So, I started talking again. Only to Annie at first, but I moved forward. Now, I can talk to my friends again, just not without picturing Joey. I still have Annie with me. Doc Mom too. They help me survive. They help keep the dark thoughts in my head at bay. But sometimes, even they can do nothing but watch. When I feel like nothing in the world is worth living for, I sit down and write. Just write. All my thoughts come out as words on the page. After all, there is a certain soothing calm to writing. I can write what I never had the guts to say. I can write about Joey, my best friend. I can write about all the things we did, but never without remembering how he died. I used to want to change. I wanted to make something out of my life. And now, things have changed. But, now I know that change is not always good. Because now, I've lost my best friend. Things have changed, but not for the better. My world will never be the same again. Joey's gone. • 14. Romeo And Juliet Rewrite The Rewrite This week was starting off great. I barely had any homework at all. This changed on Wednesday when I walked into english and sat down. I love english class, so I didn't really mind my teacher, Ms. Barber, giving us a project to do. We had recently finished Romeo and Juliet, and have spent a day talking about it. When the sheet came around with our options on what we could do, I read through it. I found what I wanted to do, a complete scene rewrite however we wanted. When I went home that day, I had no clue how I wanted to rewrite the scene's dialogue. I sat at home, just trying to figure out what I would want to do for the rewrite. My thoughts were spinning around in my head. I shot down my ideas faster than I was making new ones. Suddenly the whirlwind stopped. I heard someone downstairs. It wasn't a real person talking, it came from our TV. It didn't matter to me that he was talking. It mattered to me how he was talking. One or all my family members was watching a...show more content... Barber, who laughed so hard that she nearly cried. I wrote like a champ that night, fueled by the fact that this project will be the best one I have ever done. This rewrite would be something that I could be proud of. I don't like presenting in front of people, but if I know what I wrote, as well as the quality of what I wrote, I would be a lot less nervous. This being said, I remember a time when I was partnered up with someone a few years ago. We were assigned to do a project in a science class. That person and I made a fun little newscast on the weather. That was when I discovered that I would be fine in front of people if I was in a video. This led to me offering to help people who were making videos on a scene. I ended up making an appearance in most, if not all, of their videos. I was in a few fights for them, as well as playing romeo in one of them. One of those days I had two or three different changes of clothes on me, one for each video. • 15. Summary Of Joseph Harris's Revising In Joseph Harris's chapter "Revising" which was originally published in his book, Rewriting: How to Do Things with Texts in 2006, Harris emphasizes the importance of the revising process, how to revise and improve effectively, and informs us about the fact that revising is overlooked and rushed by writers today. He shares tips on how to effectively revise and demonstrates using excerpts within his chapters. Harris argues that revision is overlooked and undervalued because, as readers, we see texts in their final form and do not see the "hesitations, repetition, digressions...and flat–out mistakes of earlier drafts" (442). He then supports this idea when he demonstrates in a draft, by a student named Abhijit Mehta, the difference between editing and revising. He comments, "at the mundane level, he...show more content... He also states that it is important to track the revision changes made throughout the evolution of the draft. The act of tracking can show how much you have changed due to revision and can give you a clearer view of how the thought process changed (445–447, 457). Harris's purpose through making these arguments about the lack of proper revision and giving advice on how to revise at a mature level are to help writers rewrite instead of merely editing and making small, localized changes. According to Harris, many writers mistake editing for revising and fix small mistakes which is actually the process of editing. He also emphasizes the fact that revising takes time and a writer will never have their work ready in one draft; it will take many drafts which will be revised for clarity and cohesion. The draft itself could evolve into something different than was originally planned and writers should know, that is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Reflection On My English 101 Experience Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and done. However, you rarely get successful. The truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in the middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my essay, and identify my weaknesses. Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before taking this class, I use to always skip the pre–writing step considering that it is just an easy and unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing, and most importantly I struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to the deadline that I do not have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class that learned that pre–writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it holds the base of the whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for navigation to explain the importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I have learned outlining before, but part of the pre–writing that I was fortunate enough to learning in English 101 is the writing triangle. Even before outlining, the topic, purpose, and audience of the Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The experience that were bestowed to me during my short life has elevated me to the woman I am today. Please walk with me as I give you the opportunity to see the world from my eyes: To be the person that I am now, I had to reflect and accept accountability of my past actions. My past is one that many would love to erase from their memory, a past, which remained dormant, until I found myself. My last year in college, changed the whole course of my life. Near the end of my junior year, I befriended a guy, who never would become my boyfriend. I knew he was infatuated with me, so I lead him on. He ended up stalking me and making several death threats. I never understood the phrase "in fear of your life", until then. Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) got involved but there wasn't much they could do except file a police report and wait. This was a very frightening time in my life and consequently I became very disconnected with life. I never provided TPD with my stalker's name, in fear that he would kill me if I did. I moved to a different apartment complex across town, thinking that it would make all my problems go away. He ended up finding me and making more serious death threats against me and my family if I didn't leave Tallahassee. I had a mental breakdown after the last death threat and I left Florida State University my senior year, I went back home to deal with my traumatic ordeal. I quickly transferred to Florida International University and graduated the following year with my graduating class at Florida State. • 18. Rewriting American History Summary In "Rewriting American History," Frances FitzGerald claims that "each generation of children reads only one generation of schoolbooks," and those children only have a particular version of America based on the textbook they read in schools. FitzGerald is correct in her claim that children read only one generation of schoolbooks; however, children do not get a particular version of American history based on their schools' textbooks. Students should realize that American history is constantly changing, and they cannot only depend on historians' opinions on historical events. Instead, they should be open–minded to multiple perspectives of history and understand why people interpret it differently. FitzGerald supports her claim of how textbooks evolve over time by contrasting textbooks from the fifties to modern–day. According to FitzGerald, people in the fifties had the belief that "America was perfect: the greatest nation in the world," (778) and they...show more content...
