3. Influences The look of Art Nouveau was inspired by Asian Art which arrived in Europe as a result of increase trade between Europe and Asia. In the late 1800s Europe had fascination with anything Japanese. Artifacts and art from Japan streamed in Europe in large quantities and influenced many artists. 5. Influences Jules Cheret plays an important role as “a father of the modern poster” Trained as a lithographer he invented over-size posters. Most of his posters were life-size, printed on 2 pieces of paper.
