2. PROJECT: FACEBOOK OFFICE INTERIOR DESIGN
LOCATION: NEW YORK, NY
CLASS: STUDIO 2
BY: RENEE BLUNDON
This office interior design is utilizing the concept of expanding and contracting volumes to create a space that is open
and connected.
The public reception area is intimate upon entry and opens up to a public area for Facebookers. There are grass stairs
for relaxing on and for updating your status. A full height Facebook screen to view and a restaurant café equipped with
interactive tables. You can see two capsules in the reception area, inside there is the executive offices and boardroom.
The capsules are designed with two layers of glass with metal supports between This material will allow executives the
privacty they need while still having a sense of the social network beyond.
The full composition of the expanded and contracted volumes makes for an intriguing façade which is viewable on
three sides.
Floating conference boxes are solid on the floor and ceiling and glass on the sides to create an intimate yet open and
connected experience.
In order to emphasize the expanded and contracted vspaces I am working with both solid and transparent materials;
white concrete, dark grey concrete, glass, walnut and copper as well as mirror to reflect the office layout and expand
the perception of the space.
