these racist incidents have taken place on American University's campus within the past year, and I
can't say a thing against them.
The Eagle, AU's student–run news organization on campus, has an ethics code that prohibits their
staff members from expressing their opinions online. This would be fine if the opinions we want to
express were about overarching political parties, but when it comes to consistent and consecutive
acts of extreme racial harassment, we need to have the ability to voice our solidarity with our
fellow classmates. As a student at AU, I am affected by these acts of white supremacy on campus
and I worry about the well–being of my classmates of color. The least I can do for them, to show my
solidarity and support, is to post a Facebook status or a tweet condemning these racial incidents.
However, as a staff member of The Eagle, I am not allowed to show any form of bias online.I
understand that they are a news organization that are trying to be unbiased, but above all else, they

This essay will review the literature to critically explore the value and purpose of reflective practice.
There has been a rapid increase in the ides of critical reflective practice over the last few decades,
(Gould, 2004). Before we look at the value and purpose of reflective practice, it is important to take

During the course of the quarter, I feel that I have progressed somewhat. I've gained a lot of
knowledge on rhetorical strategies and how to present arguments effectively. In the writings I have

course goal in revising my writing and using feedback to help facilitate this. In this paper alone, I

I was crazy enough to involve Pedro in my destiny. Overall, the concept of it, just felt right, I
thoroughly thought about our relationship for the future. I came to a realization, if I ever wanted

The art museum is truly a work of art in itself. I enjoy trips to places of culture, be it a play,

that my work shows this.
During my HRM I did learn a lot of theory related to people on how they cope up with their daily
lives and their work. The seminars that I have attended the past couple of weeks have really helped
me in writing and presenting what I learnt with better ideas. I have learned how to write various
understandings of humanity in different forms and different fields. I feel confident that I could talk
and write about resourcing about any particular company without hesitating or not believing my

I definitely learned a great deal from our discussions about this book. I really did not like it at all
until the class sat down and analyzed the many levels Conrad addressed in his story. I thought the
endless paradoxes in the book, once brought to light, were actually very interesting. My favorite
section, however, was the poetry unit. I really enjoyed the poem ?The Blues? by Billy Collins the
most because of my respect for music. I think Collins really makes a point in his poem about just
how important music is and how it allows people who are very different to connect on many
levels. I also loved ?Love Calls Us to the Things of This World? by Richard Wilbur. The imagery
in this poem was absolutely amazing, and I adored how he made the ordinary things seem mystical
with his words. I loved how the laundry became angels. If only we could look at the world from

Stress is something we are all familiar with. Some of us experience it more than others, but we all
know the terrible feelings that accompany stress. I kept a stress log for two weeks, which helped
me lower my amount of daily stress. I was able to notice patters about what caused my stress, what
coping skills I was using, and what changes I could make to help lower my levels of stress.
First, one thing that became very clear to me was how most of my stress was revolved around

effect procrastination had on my stress. The more I procrastinated doing school work, the more
stressed out I got. The stress and worry of not being able to get the work done in time lead me to

Reflexivity
When an ethnographer examines a group of people, she is influenced by her position and
understanding of her own culture. Before an ethnographer even begins her research, her opinion is
effecting the process of selecting a topic. For instance, Anthropology's most commonly known
researcher Bronslow Malinowsky wrote the Argonauts of the Western Pacific. He did not choose to
study a culture similar to his own because of the interest he had in the 'exotic'. His preferences told
him to pick a more remote group of people, the Trobriand Islanders. There has been a history of

Resaldo realizes that by including personal events he may come out sounding less professional.
However, I feel it is more professional [especially to this discipline] to be honest about how one
concludes regarding an aspect of culture. His acknowledgment of the natural emotions that surround
rituals gives the reader a more comprehensive and complete account of events. To leave out such
emotions from ethnographies is to " . . . remove potentially key variables from their explanations
(p.12)." I feel it is worth the use of personal events to base explanations on –even when the risk
looked down upon is prevalent. Ruth Behar supports this idea in The Vulnerable Observer:
Anthropology that Breaks Your Heart.
Behar addresses the critics of reflexive anthropology who think that because personal experience
cannot always be believed or seen as factual (Behar: p.169). Scott Michaelson and David Johnson
are her two targets in the speech she has included in her writings. She argues that though Michaelson
and Johnson impose their critique of Resaldo's vulnerability and discussing his feelings regarding
his wife's death, they never make themselves vulnerable (p.169). The vulnerable state that Resaldo
put himself in by telling the way in which his wife died and how it effected him does not
