The roles of a teacher are so many and so varied that it is impossible to list them all, but one of the
most important is preparing students to learn, not only in the classroom, but everywhere, and for
the rest of their lives. Learning is not a skill that is necessarily instinctual or easy, and therefore
different approaches must be used to make learning easier and more fun for students. Teaching is
not a skill that can be memorized or made repetitive, and so teachers must continue to challenge

It 's good for the mind and body to have a break, get some sleep, be with friends, eat some food,
etc.; sometimes I just get so excited and focused on going above and beyond that I neglect other,
equally important things. This has always been a problem in my life throughout high school and
college and various jobs I have worked. I was always an Astudent and a dedicated athlete and a
devoted employee – I have even received feedback from employers at times telling me to not work

To be a professional teacher, it takes skill to train young minds. Education is extremely important to
go through. Teachers have many different philosophies to choose from when teaching in a
classroom. Out of the five philosophies, I ranked the highest in Essentialism and Progressivism. Both
of these philosophies are taught entirely different from each other. Essentialism is teacher–centered
learning and expresses the teaching by the core curriculum. Progressivism is student–centered
learning and expresses the teaching by doing group work. I believe that a classroom should be

During my high school years, there were several teachers that I encountered. However, there was
one teacher whom I shall never forget. In fact, he would be very difficult to forget, even if he
were only remembered for his size, for he was an enormous man. His name is Anthony Sweeney
of "Sugar Butty" my third form math teacher. To this point, I never knew the exact reason for
such name but all students referred to him in such manner. He was six feet five inches tall and
towered over us like a giant and he weighed over three hundred pounds. I never discovered his

class, and the next he would shout violently at some timid student who was merely looking through

As I begin my teaching career and the years prior to it, many ideas and decisions will take place.
Being that I plan to teach elementary school and deal with small children, I plan to be excessive on
classroom accessories. Children have a limited attention span and a dull, plain room would not be
appealing to them. The adjustment of leaving "mommy" will be hard enough for them anyway. I

Becoming a teacher can be an exciting and challenging experience for anyone. It can be quite
difficult to put four years of knowledge into their teaching and into a classroom environment. And
while it may seem challenging at first it does become easier over time.
A teacher is not only someone who teaches, but they are a symbol of learning.
A teacher is a person who plays the most important role in the development of any student. The future
of those students depends on the qualities and the dedication of that teacher. It is the teacher who
creates an interest in students to develop and to progress. It is the teacher who helps the students
achieve whatever aims they set for themselves.

The curriculum then becomes more relevant, therefore the motivation for the students to accomplish
the tasks increases.
The subject matter not only has to be relevant but it also has to be stimulating to the students'
curiosity. If a student is bored with the content, they are not going to want to learn it.
The classroom also has to be seen as a caring and supportive place with a sense of belonging. Every
student must feel respected, valued and heard. Giving children the support for learning by
welcoming their questions and encouraging exploration is very important for teachers to do.
Extrinsic motivators are sometimes used when teachers have a student or class who feels like they
have earn't something for their hard work. This could be things such as stickers or stamps on their
homework and tests. Or it could be receiving verbal or written praise. It could be just the thing that
motivates certain students. But not all students need to be extrinsically motivated. Teachers need to
find out which type of motivation works best for which student to help them succeed.
Classroom teaching is more likely to be effective when it is informed by an understanding of how
students learn. Constructivism is the current approach to learning in Australian schools today.

into Concordia College I was already positive that education was going to be the major I was
going to study and pursue a career in. With the motivation of my aunt, whom is a teacher, I
always looked up to her. The only aspect I wasn't sure of was what grade I would want to teach. I
have always loved kids, which is way I have always been leaning towards teaching within
early–childhood grades. Within this course I was given the opportunity to sit and observe
classrooms of grades of my choice. I decided I would sit within a kindergarten class, a third grade

A Day in the Life of a Teacher I hear the sound of my alarm clock at 6:30am. Time to get up! I
wish it was Saturday, no school! No, I'm not a child, nor a student, but a teacher! You don't think
we enjoy everyday at work, do you? No. That's rubbish. Let me continue with my story of a day in
the life of a teacher.. As I force myself out of bed, a chilling thought comes over me. It's
Wednesday. This means I still have three whole days to get through until the weekend. Better get

I make my way to class avoiding the students and setup and wait in the class until the bell goes at
half past 8. Outside the kids are eagerly waiting to be let inside, like a pack of puppies waiting for
you to open the door just so they can jump all over you with their muddy paws. What do they eat,
must be something like froot–loops. Which would explain not just the sugar rush but a for a few
others something else too. As soon as we are all in class, which doesn't take long, I give
announcements and ask the class to take their chairs to assembly. When we arrive I round up my
class, and once everyone is seated its time to go home. I wish! Though it is about 20minutes later.
At the beginning of every assembly we stand and sing the national anthem. Which doesn't sound
like an anthem at all. Instead of sounding like we are proud and free, it's sung in a droning tone.
When we sit down I shush all the chatters and the assembly begins. As a teacher it's our duty to
listen to what is happening around the school while also keeping a small eye, quite like a hawks,
on the class. We all usually sit back, act interested and see all the small things that go on. Like the
two kids who like each other keep pretending to 'look around the room' but are really trying to catch
