Pitch Deck Template

what is missing is the will to execute

The Deck - Purpose
The purpose of your Investor Deck is not to answer all possible
questions or close immediate investment. It is to open investors minds
to your vision and get them excited to know more. The story you craft in
your Deck gets them engaged to start filling in the blanks for
themselves.
You want to give enough information to gain their interest, but not too
much as to overwhelm them or have your story lose clarity & focus.
Give them enough to get excited about, but leave them wanting MORE!
Your deck should be able to stand on its own, without your presentation.
Compelling decks are concise, tell a story, are visual, 10-13 slides,
appropriate for presentations as short as five minutes.
Common Pitch Deck Mistakes
Too long. Too many slides. Too much information (TMI)
“Wordy slides”: To avoid, follow Guy Kawasaki’s *10/20/30* rule
for PowerPoint for slide design: 10 slides / 20 minutes to present
the slides / 30 point font or greater
TOO MANY product details, or too many financial details
Belittling competitors
False/silly assumptions you can’t back up or don’t have data on:
No FACTS
False confidence or arrogance
Deck outline: slide by slide*
1) Title slide: your VISUAL elevator pitch
2) Present the PROBLEM you are solving
3) Present your SOLUTION to the problem: better than your competition
4) How your product WORKS: step by step, show your product in ACTION
5) Start-up TRACTION: use FACTS to illustrate your PROGRESS to date
6) MARKET opportunity: market size, target customer- prove DEMAND exists
7) Your competitive EDGE: what’s the “secret sauce” in your marketing mix?
8) BUSINESS MODEL: may help to create a diagram to show HOW YOU WILL
MAKE MONEY
9) KEY NUMBERS: financials such as pricing, revenue, sales
10) INVESTMENT: what is your ASK/RAI$E. How you will use these funds?
11) Your WINNING TEAM: team members and past accomplishments
12) Conclusion: contains HIGHLIGHTS/take aways (3) and says thank you!

A brief, one-line summary over an image of your
product/service/logo that illustrates your identity and
shares your vision, product or service and the
mission of your company with investors
Keep it SHORT and make it MEMORABLE
Try to hook audience with energy of your vision
Try: making it relatable… as in “We are X for Y”

Use data and/or images to shed light on the problem you
solve. Answer, who you are solving this problem for?
Develop an authentic story based on someone’s real-world
experience which led to your concern with this problem.
Who is already solving this problem (your competition)?
How are they doing it? What are they doing wrong?
What is lacking in your competition’s approach?
